This place is awesome. My son loves learning here and joining the weekend jam sessions. I think it’s a great way for kids to learn.
My 8th grade son loves his weekly bass lessons as well as the camp he just attended. It’s amazing how fast the kids learn!
What a remarkable, generous, gifted team of musician mentors at the San Mateo School of Rock!
Pure happenstance brought us to a School of Rock summer camp program in late 2021, the flame was ignited for my seven year old (thanks to Patrick). Entry into Rock 101 brought her just the kindling she needed with the expert guidance of her instructors at weekly lessons (kudos to Chris and Ahmed), combined with the full band rehearsals (applause to Rob). The transformation of a small group of beginners to a performance-ready band (Rock on Mudbloods!) is a testament to the energy, charisma, patience and dedication of these instructors.
Our experience has been exceptionally positive – in a few short months they have managed to ignite a passion for music in my child that astounds us. She has progressed at a remarkable pace due in large part to the environment they create – a place infused with energy for learning, dedication to the craft, emphasizing collaboration and enthusiasm for sharing the love of music through performance.

School of Rock is awesome (and well-worth the cost)! My daughter has gained so much music knowledge and confridence.
My son has found his tribe at SOR Tustin, every lesson or band rehearsal he comes out very open and uplifted. Not to mention the progress in his drumming skills guided by great teachers! He now wants to add another instrument to his skill set and I could not be more pleased!
My son really enjoys the group class and personal classes. He has learned so much since day one. He really looks forward to the theory concepts above all.
All bout this school runs 100 percent business not about teaching and educating , it was my fault expecting too much ! The open day was amazing, but when you starting looks horrible, kids learning in a small and without windows and narrow spaces for class , teacher and kid both feel sleepy , the price are higher three times than normally school. And The school runners attitude are terrible!
This place used to be my home away from home. The new corporate environment made me miserable. The manager didnt do anything when there was bullying and didnt do anything when there was kids crying/breaking down. Some of the teachers also could not teach me my songs. Or they said “pick another song” when I asked to learn a hard song I needed to learn for the band. It was extremely frustrating. Renee (vocal teacher), Silas (guitar instructor) and Jordan (music director) were the best things about the school. So much talent and showed they truly care about the students.
I also witnessed so much bullying at shows and rehearsals, and nothing was done. They have rules saying “no bullying” but dont do anything about it. I just wish that it was a safer environment. Id definitely recommend this place if it was safer for kids and they showed they care for the kid’s mental health before their own image.

Great way to jam with (and get to know) people and play live (well, before Covid19, of course). Exposure to different styles of music, develop skills to play with all sort of players. Song writing exercise forces you to get out of your comfort zone. Speaking about the San Ramon SOR: John B (owner) is just a great guy all around. He runs a good business, and he also treats people right.
Love this “School of Rock.” Ian is the best guitar teacher, always detail-oriented in helping my 15-yr-old nephew learn the guitar. Thank you Ian and School of Rock, San Ramon, Ca!
My son has been with School of Rock for over four years now, performed in countless shows, and has learned so much about playing, singing, and songwriting. His instructors are thoughtful and highly skilled, and their mentorship has meant a lot to our son. School of Rock San Ramon is a safe place for kids to explore their love of music. It’s worth the long commute from our home to see my son’s confidence improving year after year. The support staff goes out of their way to make sure our scheduling needs are met, and communication with instructors is excellent. I highly recommend School of Rock San Ramon.

We are so pleased with our time at School of Rock, Burbank! They create the perfect atmosphere where the kids feel comfortable to open up creatively, explore all aspects of music and get to seriously rock out! They’re making life-long music lovers – just what music instruction should be.
School of Rock has been wonderful for my 6 year old. He is gaining confidence, learning about music, and working on his social skills all at the same time! It’s also very safe and clean, with reasonable covid protocols and accommodations for his severe food allergies. It’s an awesome, supportive environment filled with adults and kids that ROCK!
My son has attended the School of Rock Burbank for about 4 years now and to be able to see him play venues where I have seen professional bands play (i.e. House of Blues, The Mint, The Echo, etc.) is priceless. He has made a lot of friends and the performance aspect of the program has built his self- esteem and confidence to another level. The other parents and staff are amazing and so supportive of the kids. They say “It takes a village to raise a child”… School of Rock Burbank has been a big part of our village.

I can’t say enough great things about the school, the teachers are professional, they are working musicians that are young and the kids work well with that energy…. I have 2 daughters that have been there for over 3 years and it has been a great experience. They have had experiences in music that I could have never dreamt of!
An environment to flourish the natural artistic gifts of a child. This is the music school we all hoped for as an alternative to the harsh 18th century theory methods and tedious practice. My boy loved his songwriting class while for the first time coolaborating with other young artists on a shared project. He learned essential critical thinking and communication skills and was systematically challenged to create new lyrics and music.
The friendliness of the staff, and that my kid really likes going. It’s also in a great location – stuff to do while us parents wait for lessons. I’m fairly new to the school – less than 6 months, and so far I have all good things to say. Phil (the owner) is very open and friendly, and I think it’s his attitude that sets the energy of the place in motion – everyone seems happy and enthusiastic about what they are doing. You can’t put a price on that.

This place is so inspiring for my child. They definitely bring the vibe into music lessons and allow kids to explore. And getting them ready for stage performance!! If your child loves music and wants to learn more about getting on stage and playing an instrument this is the place to go!!!
Just completed our orientation visit and we loved it! So much so that our daughter is practicing the keyboard now and I think I’ll start coming in to brush up on drums.
Very cool school. My granddaughter loves her voice instructor Rachel. Open house tomorrow 2/26/22
Would give zero stars it would let me. Scheduled my 9 year old daughter’s drum lesson over phone. She was very excited! Showed up and they had not Scheduled her, drum instructor was gone for the day, and they had no idea what happened? Unbelievably unprofessional, and worst of all, I had to look at the disappointment on my daughter’s face. I thought this was going to be a positive situation for her, instead they let her down.
My disabled partner was looking for something fun to do in-between speech therapies and physical therapies. He needed something to take his mind off of things, something that may also be therapeutic. So, we decided to schedule a singing lesson at the school of rock. His speech therapist agreed, it was a great idea.
Hi appointment was scheduled for May 27 at 10:30am. They asked us to arrive at 10:15am. We planned the days schedule around the appointment. We showed up at 10:15am, as instructed. When we arrived they told my partner the vocal instructor had called in sick. They had been open since 9am yet they didn’t bother to call or email to cancel. They offered to reschedule for the following Saturday. We agreed.
Again they said to arrive at 10:15am for a 10:30 appointment on June 3rd. Again we planed our schedule around the appointment. However, around noon on the 2nd we received an email saying the appointment had been moved to 11:30am on the 3rd due to a staffing issue. We thought “Okay, well at least they contacted us in advance this time.”
We rearranged our schedule for the day. We arrived at 11:15am for an 11:30am appointment, as requested. Again they said someone didn’t show up, they didn’t have enough staff to cover the appointment.
I asked the person at the front desk why they hadn’t contacted us in advance for either cancellation. Their first response was to pass the buck and say “I don’t know I’m only here on Saturdays.” Perhaps this person isn’t payed enough to take responsibility for anything. Perhaps they aren’t payed enough to put in any amount of effort and make the situation right. I don’t know. I can only speculate. After some disingenuous apologies, an ear full of excuses, and no offer to make the situation right, we left unsatisfied.
The bottom line:
This company hasn’t any semblance of courtesy, consideration, reliability or professionalism. They wouldn’t know customer service if it bit them in their bass.

Fantastic keyboard instruction by Joe. The staff is always enthusiastic and kind, especially Katie. My 12 yr old son is loving it! Highly recommend the Wesrside schoo!!
Love this place!!!!! Raz is the man!!!!
We LOVE everything about the School of Rock program… from the incredible directors who manage the program seamlessly, to the teachers and their post lesson feedback, to the selection of music for performance groups, to the unbelievable opportunities to perform on legendary rock stages! This school has given our son THE most amazing connection to and experience with music. Worth every penny!
Great staff great location great music
Kelly who “runs” the school is absolutely awful. She is unprofessional, combative, lacks follow-up skills, lacks customer service skills, and is incredibly rude and unable to resolve conflict. I would never send my child to a place that is run by a person like Kelly. That said, I pulled my child out of the summer camp.

Amazing instructors who really care about the kids. Performance Group is the best experience ever!!!
We are extremely pleased with this summer camp. Our son thrived. We 100% recommend.
Super awesome staff and both my kids really enjoyed the summer camp. They want to keep playing music which I think was our ultimate goal with sending them to the camp.
Last week, my eight year old daughter attended the song writing camp at the School of Rock in Fairfax. We live in the Bay Area, and travelled down south for my son to attend a filmmaking camp. My daughter is a young musician, and I thought that while in LA, it would be a fun opportunity for her to attend a music camp.
While I am not sure that my daughter actually learned anything she didn’t already know prior to the camp, just being around other young musicians is I think a positive thing. Of the two music teachers, she said that Todd was a friendly teacher and very supportive. However, of the other teacher, Anthony, she said “he was kind of nice, but not really.” Her feelings were hurt when she asked him to write down the chords for one of the songs they’d started creating (so that she could practice in the hotel room) and he responded in a rude tone “do you even know how to play the guitar?” and didn’t write them down. While Chloe has been playing the piano for three years, she only 6 months ago started the guitar, and she’s still learning. Cut the kid a break.
But the thing that really upsets me about this camp is what one of the other employees did (and I am leaving the employees name out in the hope that this review will lead to self-refection and positive changes in their future). For people who are considering sending their child to one of these camps, FYI, they offer to the get the kids a lunch for $10 a day, and I suggest you always send your child with that exact amount. On the first day of camp, I sent my daughter with two $5’s for lunch, and a $20 for emergency. At lunch, she was unable to locate one of the $5’s (which she later realized had simply tightly pocketed itself within the other $5). She went to the employee as they were the person in charge of getting the lunches, and told them that she couldn’t find a $5, but that she had a $20. The employee said that was fine, and then asked my daughter if she would either like her $10 change, or would she rather have the employee keep it and apply it towards the next day’s lunch. My daughter said the employee could apply it to next day’s lunch. But, the next day when it came time for lunch, the employee approached my daughter and asked her for $10. My daughter reminded the employee that she had given her a $20 bill the day before, and that when the employee had told her she could either give her change or apply it to the following day’s lunch, that my daughter had told the employee to apply it to the following day. But, the employee’s response was that they would never do that; that if my daughter had given the employee a $20, they would just give her change, and that my daughter had to give the employee another $10 if she wanted lunch. Unfortunately, the initial $20 transaction had taken place in the small office that the employee sits in, with just the two of them present, so there was nobody to witness what the employee did. Obviously, my daughter wanted to eat, so she gave the employee another $10. This left my daughter believing that one of two things had occurred. She thought either the employee honestly didn’t remember that they’d told my daughter they’d apply to the next day the $10 dollars change owed her (which my daughter found hard to believe because in her words “there were only 8 kids and — is too young to have memory problems”) OR that the employee stole $10 from her.
This was a one week, Mon-Fri camp, and I found about the problem Wednesday morning before dropping her off. I did not feel comfortable addressing this with the employee and then leaving my daughter there. Suffice it to say, I made sure she had exact change for the remaining three lunches. On Friday, I had to send her with ten $1’s and told her to make sure the employee counted them out in front of her. I asked my daughter what she learned from the experience with the employee. She said that she learned you can never trust anybody, especially if you don’t know them. It stinks that my daughter had to learn that from an adult at a music school.

Beautiful new School of Rock! Of course the place is an amazing spot to learn how to be a rockstar but this location specifically is gorgeous! From the flooring to the wall art everything is perfect. Right on the beach too! Aside from the vibe of the place the teachers are of course top notch. The guy who owns this place also owns the one in scripps ranch and it’s run just as well. Love this program! Can’t say enough good things about it!
I love the show programs here!
I canceled my services and they charged my account

The instructor is engaging and helpful. My son looks forward to the lesson every week. He especially loves that he picks the songs they work on rather than simple, repetitive note and scale work.
My daughter loves and thrives in the environment they have provided. She is learning while having fun doing what she loves the most with kids who feel the same way.
Knowledgeable and fun teachers who care about the students and help them put on impressive performances. A great place to grow as a musician and learn how to entertain on stage, plus make like minded friends.
It’s an ok school there can be sassy people if your going into juniors it’s worst if you are a hyper person you will most likely be liked for a little while and then when someone does a mean thing you will probably be mad but there’s the good times to
