I love music. I love concerts. I always imagined myself as a musician, but failed at piano and guitar previously. At School of Rock, their approach worked!
In three months, i went from never having played the drums … to I can play solid basic beats over the whole kit l. Our beginner band even performed a public mini-gig with an audience at a local bistro. A fantastic experience.
Teachers so talented and patient with me. Great equipment to practice on too. Everyone is chill and really supportive. Weekly private lessons and a separate group/band session with other players learning instruments too…awesome and the key to getting better.
Shout outs to my teachers Mandy, Matt and Jordan and owners Jon and Sarah. They are the best.
My 13 year old daughter loves it here! She is guitarist and has been playing/taking lessons for 9 years.
When the studio opened, we thought it’d be a great place for her to grow her knowledge of music. She did a songwriting summer camp and really loved it. Since then, her interest in music has expanded exponentially. She takes guitar and drum lessons here, and also takes performance band (which is seriously the coolest concept ever).
I attribute her passion to the warm, welcoming, and safe environment the owners and teachers have cultivated here. The teachers provide nearly instant feedback when a lesson is finished. The end of the term performances are so fun – it is so amazing to watch the kids learn how to perform fun songs for an audience!
If your kiddo is interested in music, this is the place to be!
Love this place from the owners to the instructors

Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

I been going here for almost 2 months and it just feels so familiar and new and exciting every visit. I have improved in my vocals so much thanks to my teacher Sherry! she’s so enthusiastic, kind, passionate, and educated on her crafts. I am someone with HUGE anxiety but I am telling you coming here you will not feel that sense. I’ve already improved so much it’s honestly scary. Sad that it’s once a week and 30 minute sessions but that’s totally acceptable and appropriate but it’s honestly so dope you’d wanna be here 24/7 cause you learn and have fun at the same time. Covid-19 protocols are in place and safe staff are vaccinated and wear masks. While singing with Sherry we both maintain distance as much as possible and wear clear face shields they have plenty provided as well due to being able to see vocal technique and to hear clearly) so that is not a worry. Not to mention it is a clean space and is affordable for families. I love it here
Best place in town for rehearsal space! Their studio is top notch!
If you’re thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.
Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you’re looking to get into music.

$7 for a show is very reasonable; knowledgeable presenter, great gift shop!
I love the Longway Planetarium!! The Ooky Spooky show is my favorite, and I look forward to it every fall! We have seen other shows here too, and they are always great, and informational. The shop is very cute and has a variety of items you can buy. Everyone is always nice, and the Planetarium is always clean.
Loved the ooky spooky Halloween show! A couple parts I worried would be too scary for my 3.5 year old but he loved every minute of it.
Great for young kids. Starting to show its age.
Great place to come and see a show.
I brought my family here for the Christmas show in the planetarium and we had a good time.
It was easy to buy the tickets online and show the phone with an eticket on it to enter the line wasn’t long and the cashier was very helpful.
My son didn’t like the seating because he is 5 and didn’t have the mass to hold the seat reclining the whole time so me and my wife had to take turns helping him hold the seat back.
The show was OK (holiday music playing with a light show on the planetarium screen).
Overall fun time spent with the family during the holidays.
Nice and clean. We had a good time. Something really different for the kids! A little learning and lots of fun!
It’s a awesome place to go. But they have the same shows over and over it’s been the same ones I know for at least 5 years. I don’t understand why. When everything else down there has been upgraded and added to they can’t even get no more shows to add to a screen smh ♀️. During holidays the same stuff.
Hi Randy,
Thank you for sending this over. I do have a couple questions. Were you just doing the ceremony or were you also hosting the reception there as well? Once I have that in I can call you and grab the down payment.
Thank you,
Olivia
Hello Crescenda,
I am so excited to hear this and I very much look forward to working with you. What time will you be coming in on Friday or will we be doing the deposit over the phone? I just want to make sure I am available.
Have a great day!
Olivia

to me
Hi there! I am at a different building right now. Is it possible I can call you back in about an hour? Also did you have a chance to fill out that contract? I’ll also need that before I can get your down payment
Greetings Olivia,
I hope this email finds you well. This is a follow-up to our phone
conversation regarding the wedding date for Randy and myself;
Saturday, August 10, 2018.
Per our conversation, you were waiting on the outcome of a meeting
with your director regarding us being able to solidify the 10th of
August, as the date due to a prior engagement already scheduled at
Longway Planetarium.
Please let us know the current status of the decision on whether or
not that date is still an option for us. We are in the process of
selecting vendors for the wedding and reception, so we need to have an
answer by the COB on Friday, September 28, 2018.
Thanks for advocating for this date for us!
To whoever responded to this email, please feel free to call me to gain the full details of the emails. You were miss informed and are in breach of a contract that clearly states 8/10/19. Olivia was told by the manager to get us to move our date.
Should have been great….I mean the largest planetarium in Michigan? What’s not to love? I guess the show and everything else. Nothing indicating the history of the planetarium inside at all. Not many people around but we bought tickets for the 3:00 show. The narrator stumbled over his words frequently and spoke in low monotones and after that—-I was asleep. Whoops! I do remember the end, he was excited it could show fireworks. I would skip it unless you REALLY love planetariums.

Excellent talented staff that knows music but and knows how to motivate and coach the kids
My son has been a student at School of Rock 6 years. He is now a teenager and is writing and performing his own music, as well as, studying, performing and exploring many genres of music within the School of Rock individual and group format, but also He plays in bands outside School of Rock. He has met some wonderful students of all ages during his study and is inspired by his mentors there. He has taken vocal, guitar, bass, keyboard and drum lessons at SoR. When it comes to music study and performance, nothing makes him happier than School of Rock. It is an excellent choice for a serious musical student with aspirations to go into the music industry and also for a youngster that is exploring to find out more about their passion for music. It is well worth the investment of your money and your child’s time.
Wonderful supportive environment. Tallulah is fantastic at coordinating. The teachers like Hallie are enthusiastic, positive and I’m impressed wt how well they can work with kids of all ages to come together to put in great performances. Highly recommended .
I am so pleased with the level of instruction, weekly in-depth communication and feedback, and the performance opportunities that School of Rock provides.
The J-RO School of Music
Address: 4084 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085 , Flint , Michigan , United States
My kids have been going there for over a year and they love it. The instructors and good and very friendly too.
We have been so impressed with the variety of music lessons offered for voice and instruments plus skills like songwriting and recording that other places do not offer. It is a very supportive environment and my daughter looks forward to going every week. No matter what the skill level, this is a great place to nurture your talents.
Our experience at The J-RO School of Music has been fantastic. Josh and his associates have really helped our daughter to grow as a musician and gain confidence! Not only has Josh been a huge part of Jane’s musical education, but he has also been very supportive in other ways as well. We are so thankful to have found the J-RO School of Music!
Classes are good but sometimes you can’t hear yourself even with the headphones as some instrumentalist will be playing acoustic instruments
We’ve been attending for several months now, underwhelmed by our child’s progress. Appears to be partially attributable to poor management

This place is great! My daughter took an intro lesson to see what she thought. Being a teen she was nervous at first and hesitant to go. Came out of the building happy and excited. She loves her instructor and what’s she is learning. She would go every day if possible. They are professional, warm, fun, and friendly. My child loves this place!
They have a cool program where you can do lessons on your instrument or voice. And then, if you choose to you can join a band also which meets there weekly. You get to decide what level you sign up for. It’s been a huge hit with my kiddo! Wish I had signed my older child up years ago.
They offer a really great program and we are so happy a friend turned us on to it!
No one asked for this review- we are just that happy about it.
Was really good instructor was patient and no pressure at all will go back.
So I took my son for a trial run with a group of kids at this school last week on a Monday at the Madison Rd location, which he was so excited about, so he went in with (i forget her name..jenny?) and he was just excited about all the instruments, it was only him and another boy. I guess my son was too much for her because she said that he was not really focused on just one instrument and kind of all over the place and recommend Music Therapy because she is a music therapist and that an hour was too much for him, ( I was kind of shock and a little hurt that I didn’t even ask her any other questions, but said ok and left) but she didn’t recommend her services for a personal session or anything, so my husband called the next day and asked about the lady (the music therapist) that did the trial run with Aaron if she can call him back and recommend her services or if she has a referral. its been a little over a week and she has not returned his call. I also did tell them in the beginning he has a vision impairment) I just wish someone would of reached out and recommended something because my son loves music and he is not a bad kid.

We wrote this to our daughter’s vocal coach at School of Rock. We just wanted to let you know that our daughter loves her vocal lessons with you. She looks forward to them every week and she thinks you’re so cool and an amazing singer and piano player!
Although she is not the best singer, we want you to know that you are teaching her confidence (we can hear the confidence with the increasing projection of her voice coming from outside her room each week). Our daughter tends to be on the shy side and has dreams to be a singer one day. To her, these classes are making that dream come true. We want to thank you for making these classes so enjoyable for her.
Diversity of music genres, one on one attention, professionalism of teachers and staff, sense of community.
I love how much fun it is! Being in a band with and being able to let loose once a week is incredible.
My son recently began electric guitar lessons at the School of Rock, and unfortunately, our experience has been somewhat underwhelming. I want to emphasize that my son has a good understanding of musical theory, having previously learned the baritone, which motivated him to pursue the electric guitar.
Despite his prior musical background, we discovered that the program at the School of Rock wasn’t well-suited for beginners in electric guitar. He needed more personalized guidance to fully grasp the specific techniques and intricacies of this new instrument.
Moreover, we were disappointed with the school’s emphasis on memorizing chord shapes without incorporating music theory and note reading into the lessons. We strongly believe that a comprehensive understanding of music theory and reading music notation is essential for any aspiring musician, regardless of their previous experience.
If your child already has musical experience and is seeking a place to refine their skills, the School of Rock might be a suitable option. However, for beginners like my son who require a more structured approach to learning the guitar, I recommend exploring other options that cater specifically to their needs
Red Piano Music Studio
Address: 1049 John R Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307 , Flint , Michigan , United States
I have had a great experience with Red Piano Music Studio. I’m an adult student who decided to start learning to play the violin, and Ben has been a great teacher!
We have been taking piano lessons with Ms. Mackenna for a couple of years. She is does a wonderful job including games and exercises to help keep learning fun and interesting for all ages. I highly recommend lessons at Red Piano Music Studio as well as the camps and programs she offers.
Amazing educators, will sure be a great experience to learn from everyone there.

Neat place, friendly staff. I wish SOR was around when I was a kid.
My 7-year-old enjoyed the summer camp Jock 101 very much. I registered for this summer camp back in April but afraid it is going to cancel. But, the school of rock did not cancel the summer camp even there are only two campers. They not only did not cancel but provide my 7-year-old an amazing experience of Rock. I am so impressed by all the teachers. Thank you.
I go to school of Rock, Wexford Pa for about a year now.
It has been the best time of my life.
I have met so many new friends and do what I love.
Play music.
School of rock is the best.
My kid attends and has enjoyed it so far. We had a few issues with some last minute cancellations from the instructor, but they seem to have worked hard to resolve the issues 🙂
Josh is teaching my 7 year old to sing and Josh jas a lot of patience.
I’ve been looking for about 2 months every day to find myself an interlocutor. I understand that the hardest thing in Pittsburgh is getting your kid to take piano lessons. There is no need for new students in any music school anyway. Nobody answered that phone. Last time a girl opened, I left my e-mail address for registration. It will be about a week, I’m still waiting for your email. there is no hurry, they send an email next year.
Decided to try for My son who has passion for music and has autism. If you know someone with autism, you know firsts don’t always go well. In this case he was having an issue focusing during the first 30 minute drum lesson. The young adult male came out 15 Minutes into my sons lesson and said it wasn’t going to work out because your son just wasn’t focusing or listening. No kidding! Gotta give him a chance. Way to go! I don’t recommend.

Well stocked w/just about everything from lawn & garden to all your grocery needs. Just dont count on many floor clerks to help you find anything. They’re few & far between. When you do find one, they are GREAT!!!
