School of Rock NKY is an amazing place. My child has learned so much in her time here and continues to grow both musically and socially. It’s a place that your child is accepted as who they are and allowed a safe space to express themselves.
This is the best place for kids of any age to start or keep learning music. Lessons are available on all rock instruments and vocal. My daughter has had great success here and the atmosphere is so positive and inviting. We are so so incredibly lucky to have this school and this staff and instructors. We give it 10 stars!!
My son has been a student at S of R (both the Cinci & NKY locations) for over 3 years and has loved it. Not only has he become a very good guitarist, he has learned the workings of an actual band, the set up/tear down/sound board of a gig, and has had some awesome experiences both locally and thru touring. Oh – and the staff is beyond wonderful! The time and dedication they put in every day…just fabulous! I highly recommend.
I worked really really hard at this location. It’s a place for kids and teenagers but honestly the staff were the ones with the biggest messes! I took my time , pulled out their desk , which would have piles of popcorn , candy wrappers, sticky were coffee would be all over and they would leave it to dry. very detailed, really gave my all. It was never noticed instead it would be “not happy, along with a pic of a dust ball I missed in a hidden corner. The nit picking continued and I am now without a job. The staff has never been friendly, always negative and seemed to look down , I wouldn’t even go until they were gone so I didn’t have to feel uncomfortable. I def won’t be bringing my son to this location now.

Went here several years for FMC, one of the best experiences I had growing up! All the professors are amazing, with great people skills. You won’t find your typical crabby professor here!

This place is great! My daughter took an intro lesson to see what she thought. Being a teen she was nervous at first and hesitant to go. Came out of the building happy and excited. She loves her instructor and what’s she is learning. She would go every day if possible. They are professional, warm, fun, and friendly. My child loves this place!
They have a cool program where you can do lessons on your instrument or voice. And then, if you choose to you can join a band also which meets there weekly. You get to decide what level you sign up for. It’s been a huge hit with my kiddo! Wish I had signed my older child up years ago.
They offer a really great program and we are so happy a friend turned us on to it!
No one asked for this review- we are just that happy about it.
Was really good instructor was patient and no pressure at all will go back.
So I took my son for a trial run with a group of kids at this school last week on a Monday at the Madison Rd location, which he was so excited about, so he went in with (i forget her name..jenny?) and he was just excited about all the instruments, it was only him and another boy. I guess my son was too much for her because she said that he was not really focused on just one instrument and kind of all over the place and recommend Music Therapy because she is a music therapist and that an hour was too much for him, ( I was kind of shock and a little hurt that I didn’t even ask her any other questions, but said ok and left) but she didn’t recommend her services for a personal session or anything, so my husband called the next day and asked about the lady (the music therapist) that did the trial run with Aaron if she can call him back and recommend her services or if she has a referral. its been a little over a week and she has not returned his call. I also did tell them in the beginning he has a vision impairment) I just wish someone would of reached out and recommended something because my son loves music and he is not a bad kid.

This is not your typical “music lesson”. The instructors/musicians at School of Rock (SOR) have a passion for what they do. I see it on their faces every time they walk out after the lesson with the student and hear it in their voices while the parent is given an overview/update. The staff at SOR are truly vested by way of their dedication, and the offering of their own time to each and every student. I am very pleased the lessons are 45 minutes long. I also value the input from Hayden’s instructor, not just with teaching him theory, but also showing him how to achieve a better sound through adjusting his strings and settings on this amp. It has made a huge difference for Hayden. He is psyched to go to lessons every Wednesday. There’s only so much Hayden can learn from YouTube! I’m so glad we discovered SOR! And, I’m even more impressed with the instructor musicians and their passion for these kids!
My kids love music but were tired of the traditional music school. They love the atmosphere, teachers, and music at SOR! Also, I no longer have to threaten them to practice. They get home from school and immediately run to the music room to play!
My kids have been going to School of Rock nearly 4 years now. There aren’t enough wonderful words in the English language to describe the staff, the children, the sense of family & belonging…
Every instructor we’ve worked with at School of Rock has actual performance experience whether around Charlotte or Nationally (and a couple internationally). They all have a deep rooted passion for music and share that passion through their teaching.
The children are incredible; from the youngest who are just holding a guitar or drum sticks for the first time to the high schoolers, some of who will be the stars you hear about tomorrow. All of the kids are engaged and play songs by artists they know and like.
Simply put, everybody is welcome at The School of Rock. It’s hard to say if it’s the kids that make friends first or the parents and staff. What’s important is when you walk in to the School of Rock, you become family. Just don’t ask me to borrow gas money… Just wondering if you were still reading…
My personal experience, my daughter, who, like myself, tried to stay in the background most of the time, went from playing drums to performing on bass to picking up a microphone and singing in front of a packed house at The Double Door!! That confidence was nurtured by the staff, the friends, the family that is The School of Rock Charlotte.
Booked/scheduled intro lessons for both of my daughters and both were cancelled and rescheduled (for dates and times that accommodated themselves not my daughters) so they could accommodate existing clients. I will take my business elsewhere…

Great found everthing i needed and my grandchildren too.thanks
They moved everything around, think the reason for that is to get you looking at other stuff while trying to find what your looking for.
Only complaint is the same as every other Wal-Mart, they only open 3 lines at a time.
Its Walmart
No matter the time of day they never have enough lanes open
