So excited SoR came to Canton! Love the vibe of the place and how passionate the staff is!
My daughter has been a student with School of Rock, Canton since it opened in 10/2019. She loves the private lessons and group band practices. The best time of all is performing gigs out with the band. She has grown as a musician, singer and performer in a very short time. As a mom, I really appreciate the good people who teach and run the business at School of Rock Canton.
My boys and I love School of Rock Canton — we have a 9 year old in the Rock 101 for keyboard, a 5 year old in the Rookies group (looks like he’s gonna be a drummer) and I play bass with the adult group. From top to bottom: management, staff, instructors, and students are all amazing — felt like a family really quickly!
They were super kind and accommodating but my child seemed to plateau in the rookies class. I fished for information on moving him forward and never got any real answers as to why he wasn’t ready for one on one lessons with one instrument as the focus.
They also restaffed the front desk and the new person doesn’t really know what they are doing. They also double charged me and more or less called me a liar when I informed them of it. I had to provide bank statements showing the double charge because they didn’t believe me. It was really bad customer service. Never got an apology for the double charge.
Between the lack of information and progress and the double charge I ended up ending our contract with them. Which was really sad because like I said they were super nice. Only reason they didn’t get 1 star was for John and Lorelei.

School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

Great atmosphere, the staff really seem to care about music and their students. The Little Wings program is awesome and run by very cool teachers.
School of Rock GR has been fantastic for our preschooler. He especially enjoys his instructor always looks forward to attending weekly classes. Mr. Connor does a brilliant job engaging and (re)directing a room full of energetic kids. He and all of staff are so kind, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about music which is reflected in the way they interact with the students. We really appreciated the opportunity to do a trial lesson before starting classes, it was a great chance to check out the curriculum; the levels and structure of which are really thoughtfully tailored to age and skill level. Certainly for our kiddo it is both challenging and fun and we’ve already seen the impacts of what he’s been picking up in class. We look forward to continuing here as he progresses.
Our daughter was in the Little Wings class and is now in the Rookies class and she loves it here! It amazes me, the things she comes home knowing about rhythm, instruments, and even classic rock artists. We also just held her 6th birthday party there, and WOW, it was incredible. The instructors were very organized (more than my husband and I), and the activities were a hit. They learned a Moana (the bday girls’ party theme) song on Ukeleles, decorated guitars, and played bingo. The best part was that we (the parents) were able to sit back and let the kids enjoy the party rather than stressing out. The communication has been excellent as well for both the classes as well as the party. I can’t say enough great things.

Absolutely the best around! Jason, Sherry, Mike, and all the mentors at DSRP are fantastic. Our son started with their Summer Rocks! summer camp in 8th grade and continued with lessons until graduating from High School. The time and attention that he received from DSRP is invaluable, and Jason even helped us apply for aid from the Live The Music Foundation to assist us in keeping his lessons going when we couldn’t afford it on our own. Today, he is pursuing a career as a professional musician and has many opportunities open to him thanks in large part to the training, mentoring, and connections he received at DSRP.
I can’t say enough good things about them. Thank you Jason, Sherry, Mike and everyone at DSRP! You all rock!
in love.
I been going here for almost 2 months and it just feels so familiar and new and exciting every visit. I have improved in my vocals so much thanks to my teacher Sherry! she’s so enthusiastic, kind, passionate, and educated on her crafts. I am someone with HUGE anxiety but I am telling you coming here you will not feel that sense. I’ve already improved so much it’s honestly scary. Sad that it’s once a week and 30 minute sessions but that’s totally acceptable and appropriate but it’s honestly so dope you’d wanna be here 24/7 cause you learn and have fun at the same time. Covid-19 protocols are in place and safe staff are vaccinated and wear masks. While singing with Sherry we both maintain distance as much as possible and wear clear face shields they have plenty provided as well due to being able to see vocal technique and to hear clearly) so that is not a worry. Not to mention it is a clean space and is affordable for families. I love it here
We love the DSRP!!! My boys have excelled so much since they began taking lessons and joined a band 3 years ago. We drive an hour each week from Grosse Ile and it is definitely worth it!
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp
Address: 300 E Crystal Lake Rd, Twin Lake, MI 49457 , Tsimkavichy , Michigan , United States
Fantastic environment to experience great music, theater, and other performances. Also, a wonderful academic experience. The cosmopolitan setting is hard to find anywhere else; it’s unique and wonderful!
Going to see Momic: Botanica. Very excited. Great map google!
The location is beautiful. The cabins for the overnight campers are very sweet. The whole energy on campus is so welcoming and easy. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store in the next few weeks for my camper.
Far from perfect but a great arts camp overall
This is a fine Campground to camp at. Plenty of sites available and nice proximity to Downtown Traverse City. Don’t forget to stop at Bud’s down the Road!
Nice summer camp! Great concerts! The only thing is I have very limited cellular service on campus. WIFi on campus is also not great.
Was here for Summer Camp as a part of the Creative Writing Program. The cabins were incredibly outdated and dirty (the bathrooms inside the cabins were constantly prone to flooding and were the dirtiest places I had ever been in). Luckily, many of the main campus facilities were much cleaner. The classes were also very enjoyable and were a good place to meet likeminded peers. The living conditions, however, were so atrocious that they took away from the overall experience. The only other thing of note is the school mascot being “The Fighting Blueberries”, which is hilarious. Overall, programs and courses are good, but cabins should be updated.
First I have to say I loved the area and the venue. We went to see a concert and the concert was amazing and it fit the venue very well. In the midst of all of this someone seemed to come up with a series of rules that not only did not make sense, but were enforced by students who were not prepared or mentally mature enough to determine their effect on people. The rules caused confusion and chaos and impacted a significant number of people. I am sure someone thought they were doing it for safety or other reasons, but they did not achieve their goal in a well thought out manner. The volunteers were very helpful and were positive but the actual group of young people in charge were not. I suggest going as this is an amazing place. (My mother went to the school) Be prepared, however, to be treated poorly. Set it aside and enjoy and you might have a good time. (It would be nice too if you could have something besides water when watching a show, not alcohol, but at least something with flavor)
So when I booked it only had one picture of the lake and a deck which was nice. When we got there it is actually located in a summer school academy which I thought was a little weird. The room was small and looked like an old college dormitory. The bathroom was very small and outdated. The shower did not drain well. I almost fell on to the toilet because it was so low to the ground. However the good part of the hotel was the short walk down to the lake where you could sit on a deck, which there were multiple ones and relax. I don’t think I will stay here again as it is not the environment that I expected for a hotel.

Old building, but the people there are beyond awesome! 😀
nice music
If you’ve never been to a MSU College of music concert thou are missing OUT!
My Fiance goes here and it seems like her masters program is top notch.
This is one of the older, traditional buildings in the old part of the Campus. Mostly office and rehearsal spaces, but Cook Recital Hall is the scene of a lot of student and faculty performances.
Undergoing a lot of updates and expansion. The facilities are out of date and all need a big update. May increase score to a 5 when the refurb and expansion is complete. The programs they offer are great but like all schools the program you want may or may not be what you want.
My experience with the admissions department was very frustrating and disappointing. I auditioned for the Woodwind Specialist MM program. I received a letter from the graduate school at Michigan State saying I was admitted. I even received the same letter in snail mail. A week later I received a letter from the music department saying that I wasn’t admitted for the Woodwind Specialist program, but they would admit me for the clarinet performance MM if I desired. When I called asking why I received the first letter from the graduate school, the man seemed confused and said I [didn’t] receive a letter because it wasn’t in the records. Why would I make up receiving a letter that I was admitted? He reiterated their policy that the letter from the music department comes first. I said that obviously, their letter had NOT come first. When I emailed a copy of the letter I received from the graduate school saying I was admitted to both the associate director and the director, I received NO response. My problem was NOT with the faculty’s decision. My problem is with the administrative issues. It does not speak highly of the university and does not motivate me to spend 30K on tuition. Simple empathy or an apology of some sort would have gone a long way. Instead, I am sadly writing this Google review to tell you about my experience.
The J-RO School of Music
Address: 4084 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085 , Tsimkavichy , Michigan , United States
I have heard nothing but good things about this school. I know the owner, he is well manured, patient, kind hearted, and has a passion for his craft. If you are looking for a great teacher and tutor he is your guy.
J-Ro school of music is outstanding. They take a holistic approach to teaching you. I am learning voice and guitar, and I find that they teach me the basics and theory, but mix in enough fun and performance challenge to keep it very lively. The teaching professionals are not just amazing musicians (they can demonstrate anything); they also have excellent patience, a positive attitude, and really care about you and your success. Carey DeWitt
J-Ro School of music is an excellent place, the coaches are top notch! It doesn’t matter what level or musical skills you may have J-Row has a place for you! My daughter has been going for just almost 4 years now and she loves it and the head coach Josh is an excellent teacher and mentor! There are plenty of opportunities to perform and sharpen your skills! My family loves J-Ro and the coaches! I would recommend it to anyone from the casual to the serious singer or musician! NOW HE IS IN A NEW LOCATION ON JOHN R ROAD! The new place has more space for his students to hang out and practice! J-Ro still has a home feel to it and family atmosphere!
Classes are good but sometimes you can’t hear yourself even with the headphones as some instrumentalist will be playing acoustic instruments
We’ve been attending for several months now, underwhelmed by our child’s progress. Appears to be partially attributable to poor management

I’m so very happy Dixboro music academy is now open! Great teachers and professional staff. I couldn’t be happier
My children and I had with a wonderful experience at Dixboro Music Academy!
Our teachers, David, Silver, Charlie and Tyler were highly knowledgeable and incredibly inspiring. Their passion for music shone through in every session, created an environment where learning was a joyous experience. Their dedication to their craft and their ability to convey complex concepts in a simple and enjoyable manner truly defines their exceptional teaching skills. Their guidance and expertise not only helped us improve our technical skills but also deepened our appreciation for various musical styles and genres and of course, our love for music. We were encouraged to explore our creativity while fostering a sense of confidence and personal growth within us. We have so much appreciation for the whole team for their outstanding commitment to providing top-notch education and music instruction. Our time with Dixboro has been invaluable, and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend their services to anyone seeking a positive and enriching musical experience.
Only stopped in for a drink but the place is beautiful and this paloma was amazing. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Hope to go back and try dinner soon!
Canton Music Academy
Address: 5880 N Canton Center Rd #425, Canton, MI 48187 , Tsimkavichy , Michigan , United States
We found GPMA about two years ago. After receiving our free, no-strings-attached guitar lesson, we were hooked! Everything about this place exuded a feel of warmth and professionalism right from the start. Both my daughters take guitar and piano lessons here, and we couldn’t be happier. The instructors invest in getting to know their students, and they make learning how to play an instrument fun. The receptionist is extremely friendly and keeps the place welcoming and organized. The location is also very convenient. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who not only wants to learn music, but who also wants to love music as well.
Grosse Pointe Music Academy in Canton is great for music lessons. Our 10 year old daughter has been going there for a couple years. She is learning to play guitar and loves it. Her instructor, Jon, is excellent and brings enthusiasm when he teaches. We also enjoy working with Katelynn the office manager. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend Grosse Pointe Music Academy for music lessons of any kind.
I did a lot of reasearch and read numerous online reviews before making a commitment to any music school. The Canton Music Academy continued to catch my interest. So I made the call and I can say without hesitation it was the best decision I could’ve made. From day one my experience with the staff was awesome. They’re all so friendly and professional and easy to communicate with. I don’t have much experience with playing drums but I have a strong desire to learn. My drum instructor showed great understanding as to my music goals and prepared a lesson plan to allow me to progress in a way that was easy for me to learn. I’m so happy I chose the Canton Music Academy.
It was nice the guitar teacher was knowledgeable and kind. Check it out if kids want music lessions
The secretary it’s not friendly at all.

Excellent staff. Easy to make appointment for sessions. Clean & warm environment.
Wonderful place and the teachers are kind and patient, highly recommend. My sons look forward to their lessons every week!
I take my girls for Piano lessons and my son for Drum lessons. Their teachers are so nice and patient. Grosse Pointe music Academy is an amazing place to take your children music lessons. Everyone is so nice and helpful with everything. Love this place and I highly recommend it.
My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
I attempted to take singing lessons here. Unfortunately, on the day my lesson was scheduled, there was a power outage, so it was postpones. Now obviously this was out of their control, but they told me that they would call to reschedule and never did. We attempted to contact them numerous times about it, and they never got back to us.
The lessons could be the best in the city, but if they’re this difficult to work with…
Interlochen Scholarshop
Address: 4000 M-137, Interlochen, MI 49643 , Tsimkavichy , Michigan , United States
Excellent staff. Excellent swag! Everyone is super nice
I am going to assume the requested review is on “Interlochen Arts Camp” & not “Interlochen Scholarshop”, which I don’t even know! The Camp itself is amazing with numerous subjects, alright quite expensive. It is a sleepaway camp & has a length of 2, 3 or 6 weeks, I believe. You have to apply & get in after a rigorous selection process.
Beautiful setting for a summer camp for my son.
Very nice and unique. I wish I would have bought the coffee mug that said “# is a sharp not a hashtag”
Beautiful campus with woods, lake and state park. Caring, kind staff. Cabins, dorms, amphitheatres, multiple auditoriums. Convenient parking including handicap.
Awesome real nice people

Always a great time on the campus of Michigsn State University. Beautiful walking paths all across campus to view the ivy covered halls, listen to the Red Cedar, or catch a game at Breslin, Munn, or Spartan Stadium.
Best University in THE WORLD!!!!! GO GREEN!!!!!
Allways a great.
Me and my mother visited this campus today (7/27/18) for their white and green day event. I really enjoyed the event because of the amount of information I gained from the admissions staff, students, and other staff members.
However, MSU has been plagued with a bad reputation ever since the Nassar scandal and the school is slowly trying to do damage control. This scandal might make incoming freshmen wary about coming to the school knowing there has been such an instance.
MSU’s tuition has gone up in the previous years, and I think it’s too high. I like how they offer many extracurricular clubs/activities for people to join (even unusual ones like squirrel watching). I also enjoy how large the dorms are, and the student help you can receive if you’re struggling with a certain subject.
What I don’t like is the construction around the campus because it slows down traffic. I may not be a Spartan right now, but MSU, despite its flaws, is still one of the schools I’m considering to go to. Go green! Go white!
*NOTE I NEVER DID ATTEND THIS UNIVERSITY*
It a good school
Very loud speakers & music..I’d rather hear the band!
I hope they do somthin to help change the culture on
this campus and treating young ladies respectfully.
Starting with Co-ed dorm living..
Absolutely horrible! My daughter went to visit her boyfriend for the weekend… There was a robbery and shooting within blocks and her vehicle was stolen. Lansing police were zero help. You couldn’t pay me to send my child there!
Never sending my kids there

Tom Brady played college football for this school.
Love it here! So many yummy food places and all around great atmosphere!
Best college ever.
Extremely hard classes
tuition goes up every year
As a Spartan, I’d say this is a nice spot in town to drive a wooden stake in the ground. Nice architectural and natural scenery when the local bloodsuckers aren’t talking about how cool their place is. As noted, the place is slightly goth & grunge. GO GREEN!
Too many jersey kids.

Schoolcraft College
Address: 18600 Haggerty Rd, Livonia, MI 48152 , Tsimkavichy , Michigan , United States
I went there to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The set-up was very accommodating and organized.
#Ocelots #HIT I’ve been here half-time since 2012. I’m not sure if I want to leave!
Schoolcraft College has proved to be beneficial and rewarding to the community, College students as well as faculty. We are family
The event was Jazz concert. It was great.
The parking lot does not have letters to remember where you park your car.
I couldn’t remember where i parked my car. I had to have my Niece drive me around to locate my car.
I graduated from Schoolcraft in 2014.
I believe that Schoolcraft College is a great place to start your higher education career. The cost for tuition is great, if you plan to transfer to a four year university in state, the majority of your classes transfer over. The tools in Web Advisor really help you with planning for the future after obtaining your associates degree. Students can take classes according to your own cognizance and you’re not obligated to unnecessary courses to fulfill prerequisite needs, especially if you’re well versed in certain subjects.
Rate my professor is a great tool to get opinions on the professors in at the institution, but a lot of what you experience in these courses depends on your work ethic individually. For example, Professor Abbas teaches Microbiology and he is deemed a poor teacher, based off the Lab Reports, but if you actually do the Labs and follow instruction correctly the lab reports are easy, the directions are clear and he’s actually pretty helpful if you get past the language barrier. Professor Wrone is also an amazing professor and she makes sure that her students absorb the material. If you are a half ass student then I would suggest taking her classes because you will be required to work for your grade.
The fact that the majority of the classes here are offered online is great, it really helps those with full time jobs, children and other responsibilities that prevent fulltime campus attendance.
The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about Schoolcraft was the fact that most professor engage in “group work” and many (not all) of the people who attend Schoolcraft are lazy as hell, so if you’re passionate about your work and your grades depend on you picking up the slack for others, this mostly happens in the online psychology classes. The only other pitfall was that most professors do cumulative exams for Mid Terms and finals, it’s like you’re taking a Michigan standardized test. You’ll notice that, this rarely happens in four year colleges.
Over all Schoolcraft is great – The food on campus is great too (Perks of a culinary college)
I’m taking a class as a guest student to transfer the credits to Kettering university. Let me put it this way, this is a way much better use of your money and you should try to do as many transfer credits here as you can if you’re getting screwed from an expensive college!!
Very dissatisfied! I lost $800 due to your bureaucracy
Financial aid office sucks they act slow , this school is no help and I should’ve went to Henry ford like I was about to lol
The weld program is a joke, the so called teacher/professor coley plays favorites not only that there is no real grading scale for the welds on her objective sheet, if she doesn’t like you, she can deny your weld and say they are bad. The grading system is what fails students and her attitude saying she doesn’t care about the student is what makes this class a joke. School craft, thank you for another wounderful year and a waste of money.
