Both of our children love attending Right At School. Seeing my sons growth in playing drums, as well as my daughters progress with Piano demonstrates the quality on the method of the instructors teaching at School of Rock. The environment is fun and joyful. I would highly recommend School of Rock Elmhurst to everyone.
Great teacher my daughter loves her classes with Bailey she feels super comfortable and enjoyes it
My son loves his instructor at S o R. I really like how how they all start performing right away, too.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. My daughter won’t stop talking about it. Great space, everyone is friendly and I love the vibe.
Wish a few teachers had a little more training in controlling kids. Some kids like to take control of the class and a couple teachers are too gentle in calling them. It effects class time for others.
Very unprofessional.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Skylar and Dr.. Mike at the School of Rock Mokena have been amazing! Skylar always communicates with us and is accommodating. Our boys having only been working with Dr. Mike a short time. He has already made a huge impact on their music ability and confidence.
SORM has been professional and flexible. Would highly recommend them.
Love School of Rock. Great job with lessons and I love the performance shows.
Summer Camp is so much fun for my guitarist! It brings out the little rockstar in her. I love the energy of the teachers and how they inspire the kids to do their best! I would give it 5 out of 5 stars, but the cost is high for lessons and camp.

I like the different choices that are given for the performance groups. I also like that within the performance groups a private lessons is embedded in the cost. The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable and passionate about music.
My two children have been attending School of Rock for a few seasons by now.
I highly recommend it for all children who love music in any form and shape.
The instructors provide state of the art music instruction accompanied by leadership and confidence training.
As a family, we are very thankful for being a part of School of Rock.
We love School of Rock. My son comes out of class every week so excited to tell me what he did in class. The teachers are wonderful!!!
listened at the show at the library, very good.
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.

My daughter has been a student at School of Rock Evanston for going on 2 years and LOVES the time she gets to spend there. The school is filled with teachers, young and oldish, all passing along their love of making music to a younger generation. The community is very welcoming and my daughter feels valued and supported by everyone in it. I HIGHLY recommend giving your kids this kind of experience, mine has benefitted immensely from her time here!
Love this place!!
5 stars
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.
Chicago Summer Music Camp

American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.
My kids loved the camp. They learned a ton in a week. Definitely a great find in Downers.
My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We have been sending all 4 of our kids to SOR Highwood for several years. We have had our kids in classes ranging from ages 7-18. We are so thrilled with the impact that the teachers and the programs have made on our kids. Our kids love playing in bands with other kids – it has really sharpened their musical skills and playing their performances in public settings has built the confidence needed to play in front of others. The teachers are talented, patient and provide good lesson plans for the songs the kids are rehearsing. If your child is looking for fun musical opportunities, we highly recommend SOR Highwood – our kids have certainly been positively impacted and their love of playing and listening to music would not be the same without SOR Highwood.
School of Rock Highwood is AMAZING! We love the teachers and staff. Our kids have learned so much, have made wonderful relationships, and have had incredible experiences performing in cool venues all around the city and suburbs.
I have been coming here for around 5-6 years and I can confirm that all teachers here are amazing. The bands are also great.

I’m so glad I joined School of Rock! The camaraderie of my band mates and the non judgmental attitudes, (especially since I’m doing this for fun and this is my first time) has put me at ease and made me feel very welcome. The staff is great too and want to see me succeed. I always look forward to my band rehearsals and private voice lessons. These are the highlight of my week!
School of Rock’s philosophy of teaching is through songs. It has proven to be a greta way to teach me how to play the electric guitar. I recommend The School of Rock to anyway wanting to learn how to play any instrument!
The staff and the shows are great! The kids make friends and learn to get on stage and they build confidence!

This place is literally amazing, I would never have dreamed that I would playing guitar after only 4 months of lessons, I would perform in one of the coolest clubs in Chicago singing some of my favorite Beatles songs. This School of Rock specifically has given me opportunities I never could have dreamed of getting, such as playing at renowned clubs and venues around Chicago. When I started in March of 2013, I was a total R&B/soul genre type of musician and was solely a vocalist. Now, I love a wide variety of indie, classic rock, modern rock bands, grunge, punk, and even some prog rock. I first picked up a guitar in June, started lessons in August, and can play incredible songs like Band on the Run (Wings) and Knights of Cydonia (Muse). What’s even better about this rock school is the environment we are put into-all the students quickly bond and we all learn from each other. It is an INCREDIBLE program and I cannot thank SoR Hinsdale and Patrick McKenna (general manager and director of House Band) enough for all the professional experience and new opportunities I’ve encountered while here. I learn from the students, the school, the teachers, and the music more everyday.
I love that they are learning multiple instruments in one setting. I love the music they are listening to and how excited they are after class to talk about (and sing about) what they’ve learned. Incredible program, we are so happy there.
My kid loves it! He looks forward to going every week. I love that he is able to try out different instruments without having to necessarily commit. Also, we have gone on several vacations and the office assistant has been great at allowing us to move our weekly lesson to another day of the week as a makeup class. I would highly recommend Hinsdale and Naperville locations.

Staff are friendly and are good with kids. Our boys are proud of what they have learned and can do. We have been coming here for years. Have never been disappointed. 5-stars for Naperville School of Rock.
Naperville School of Rock is awesome. My daughter loves going to her lesson. They make learning exciting and fun. I would and have recommended the school to many.
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!

Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.
Merit School of Music
Address: 38 S Peoria St, Chicago, IL 60607 , Kenwood , Illinois , United States
Merit has been a great experience for both my girls. My oldest met some wonderful instructors and friends And is now in cello performance with Northwester. My youngest has been willing to continue voice lessons that she had loss interest in. The summer program help rebuild her confidence and encouraged her to stick with it. The instructors and students really came at the perfect time for my girls. So happy to have Merit as a program for my girls!
This is a wonderful facility with a staff that truly cares. Their support of the community and their students is excellent.
I am an adult piano student at Merit and am very happy with lessons here. The calibre of teachers and professionals is tops and I witness how they inspire dedication and love for music in their students, which inspires me to keep learning and practicing.
My family loves Merit Music. My daughter studied with Ms. Elena for 12 years. Her instruction was caring and deeply informed; Ms.Elena is an inspiring artists. My nephew and neighbors have enthusiastically attended various classes over the years. I highly recommend Merit.
Best place to learn music
My experience at Merit was awful and honestly disappointing. I attended a summer camp there and many of the music teachers were extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. One of my encounters with a flute teacher (I think her name was Susan Crandall) was particularly harsh. She told me that I “sucked” at flute, and was put into the highest band at my high school because people “felt sorry for me.” Her words were very cruel and discouraging; she was insulting. I told my parents about what this teacher said and they called Merit many times but nobody answered, even though the school promised us an explanation. Obviously Merit had no explanation for what had happened. There had been various encounters before this one, too. This teacher wasn’t the only person who I had seen act unprofessionally. If you/your child is interested in taking music lessons, do not go to Merit. It is a waste of money and time.
Canceled venue for no reason, cost me alot of money…Very Unprofessional!!!
I dont understand the work and its a fast pace like only one subject per lesson how am i going to remember that. It’s uncontrollably boring and i hate staying to the house all day long just sitting there doing work and waiting to the next classconnect. 🙁

Our 15 year old son took an interest in learning guitar. We reached out to Geneva School of Rock and were welcomed right into their community. Chase has made my son’s introduction to guitar such a positive and fun experience. My son felt an immediate connection to Chase and he is progressing along pretty quickly. Chases encouraging, supportive and genuine teaching style has cemented our son’s interest in this new venture. We are so grateful to have found, not only a great instructor but someone who has so positively influenced and validated our sons interest and desire to learn about music and guitar.
My oldest is enrolled in the Rookies program. We were very excited to discover an age-appropriate program that provides an introduction to a variety of instruments and musical concepts and seems to be a fairly unique offering among the music schools in our area. All of the staff members are very friendly and excellent at sharing their enthusiasm for music with their students.
Joe is awesome! Very kind and patient.
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.
