My son is shy but they have managed to make him feel comfortable singing his heart out. He loves music and we feel whether it’s as a music teacher or singing in some capacity we’re hopeful that the school of rock gives him the confidence and foundation to pursue music.
He is hyper and all over the place but music gives him something to focus on! We couldn’t be happier with the school. They genuinely care about their students!
I am a self-taught guitar player and was in a rut. I joined the adult program 2 months ago and cant believe the impact this program has had on my playing (skill, confidence, playing live). SoR takes safety seriously but it also feels like a community of music when I’m there. GREAT band directors and they know how to bring out each person’s skills in a pressure-free environment. I really wish I had done this sooner.
Our 15 year old has been playing guitar for 2 years now. He plays until his fingers are raw, he plays until we tell him its too late to blast the neighbors, he plays for our neighbors as they walk their dogs… Where does a kid like this find community? School of Rock has been a great partner so far! We are School of Rock fans!
My son had an awesome time at School of Rock today.
Love School of Rock! The approach of mixing individual lessons with a band of peers and actual performances is perfect for learning and staying motivated. The instructors are great, and the bands have a chance to play venues all over the area. We have been with the school since they opened a few years ago. Our son has moved from guitar and bass to drums, and had a great experience with each instrument. The staff is responsive and friendly, the kids have developed real friendships, and they are playing great music (no hot cross buns played on repeat at this school).
Kind and informative. But not very professional on the phone.

School of Rock provides a fun, safe environment for my daughter to explore her music abilities in fun and unique ways. The staff is always super friendly and supportive and Rachel has yet to meet an instructor she didn’t love. Thanks SofR!
Seriously the best staff & music program for all ages! My daughter absolutely loves school of rock! She looks forward to every session and is inspired by them. School of Rock staff are friendly, knowledgable, & they care. They are flexible and accommodating. The performances are also amazing. As a parent, you can visually see the work that has been put in. You can’t ask for anything more!
School of Rock has dedicated teachers who really care about their students and a fun and inclusive atmosphere.
I appreciate how teachers adjust their plan for individuals as well as the fact that students receive both a solo lesson and a group lesson.
9/10, not enuf jaz

My son did a free trial class and loved it, so we enrolled. Happy to have this as an option right in town!
I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with the Barrington School of Rock adult program. I knew that I just wanted to break out of my comfort zone, actually learn some songs that I could play from start to finish, and perform in public. I have been a self-taught musician with a pretty good grasp of fundamental music theory and only beginner-intermediate acoustic guitar skills. Your program in Barrington has exceeded my wildest imagination and it has been 100% the result of your staff. I could not be happier with their enthusiasm, their continual words of encouragement, their knowledge of music, their talent, their teaching abilities, their sense of humor, their playfulness, and their efforts to fill in gaps in the band when we had shortages of adult students. I could not be more impressed with Stephanie, Danny, and Andrew, in particular. Their personalized interest has been outstanding. I have take the most private lessons from Danny. I have learned a remarkable amount from him over the last year. His listening skills are extremely good. He doesn’t just provide a boring lesson. He listens to what I want to learn and where I struggle, then he tailors the lessons to my needs. The follow-up notes he provides are ridiculously good and very helpful. It is not easy to teach music, but both Danny and Andrew can communicate it in a way that makes sense and wants me to keep going. I have learned more songs in the last year than I thought possible and I look forward to what we will do in the next year. It’s also a great opportunity to make new friendships with fellow musicians. I am honored to be part of the SOR Barrington program.
Great staff…so happy my daughter found this place as her new home for rock n roll! I Highly recommend them! Bring your kids and jump start their careers in music!
Not really impressed with this school. We went for a trial lesson with every intention of signing up for regular classes. The instructor really had nothing to say to me after my son’s class. I had to approach him myself as he was walking away and still he barely said a thing after I inquired about how everything went. Say something man. Anything. The front desk attendant educated me more than the actual teacher. Just left w a bleh feeling. Not signing up.
This school is only for approved white rich people. Horrible experience with the instructors playing favorites. If I could give zero stars I would. All of these five star ratings are from the parents that have been given preferential treatment. Don’t waste your time, and YOUR MONEY if you’re a hardworking middle class family in this school.

SOR Arlington Heights is a great place for your child to discover music and people with similar interests. The owners and teachers are all fantastic and well trained! We can’t imagine not having SOR Arlington Heights as part of our lives.
I can’t say enough good things about the Arlington Heights S.O.R.. My kids have learned so much there both in learning how to understand and play music and also how to appreciate various styles. We’ve seen our shy kids develop into confident performers in front of large crowds. They absolutely love being a part of the School of Rock family.
Overall, there are many programs offered to match different age groups and each individual’s interests. Personally, my son’s guitar teacher has been a perfect match – they even love the same type of music. His teacher encourages and more importantly challenges my son to develop his skills. This is my son’s first time playing with other musicians in a band and he loves the experience!
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

My kids loved the camp. They learned a ton in a week. Definitely a great find in Downers.
My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
So much fun! We had a great time.

School of Rock has been a fantastic place for my son to learn and grow in his love of music. They did an incredible job transitioning to a virtual teaching model and making it fun for the kids! The staff is incredibly kind, responsive and professional. It’s been an awesome experience for the last three years and look forward to many more!
Just finished the first adult program and performance at Hinsdale school of rock. Staff across the schools is top notch and a special shout out to John Nugent for helping us cross the fishing line and making our first adult performance program a resounding success!
I can’t explain how incredibly grateful I am to be a part of the School of Rock community. I found School of Rock when I was stuck, struggling to be a better musician. I hit a roadblock so to speak. I had my first few lessons and my first rehearsal in Performance Group and felt alive again. I was learning, like truly learning, from peers who are more talented and experienced than I am, from instructors who are extremely educated in music, and from people who just genuinely care. I have come so far from having shaky vocals and playing only open chords on a guitar, to having a powerhouse voice and playing lead licks in my performance group as well as making it into House Band, in just over 6 months. Thanks for everything School of Rock!

The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

We have had a wonderful experience at School of Rock! Our children have grown as musicians and performers. The staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
The staff and the shows are great! The kids make friends and learn to get on stage and they build confidence!
Our son has been taking drum lessons at SOR for the past two years. The instructors are great and they create a productive and fun learning environment for the kids. Highly recommend them.

When I walked in all the instructors knew what they were doing, and were very organized.
Their staff is always so happy and excited. Makes the experience out of this world.
My kids have tried all the different sports but it didn’t click. We were getting nervous about which activities they could cling onto and make thier own….then School of Rock in Plainfield came along.
At first, my kids were leery…then after several lessons and group sessions, they “wanted” to go. I am floored at how this school has excelled my kids in their playing, how they perform in a group, and their passion for music. I hear my kids playing in the house together (one plays drums, the other piano), talking about music all the time, playing on their own, etc… it’s just been a wonderful developmental process that the School of Rock team has put together in Plainfield.
It both challenges them and then provides tangible rewards they can feel and build confidence with. Especially, when they get to play on stage at the end of each 3 month session – that is the true pay off for all of them!
I highly recommend this school and the teaching team. I know people have even followed them from other schools. My kids are so excited to go each week, they have created both friendships with the kids and bonds with the teachers.
I am sincere and grateful in saying…..thank you Jason and team for bringing School of Rock to my family. I wish I had this opportunity as a young kid myself.
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.

If you have a teen who wants to improve their singing abilities, ask for Allison at the Mokena School of Rock. Allison has been coaching my 17 year old son for over 2 years now and we could not be more happier with his singing abilities and confidence!
Live this place. Friendly and great to work with.
You can be starting from scratch with an instrument and they will work magic! My son (12) started a few months ago with guitar and I am so impressed with how much he has learned! Skylar is super helpful and organized at the front desk with scheduling and my son enjoys his lessons with Neil. Love this location!
Summer Camp is so much fun for my guitarist! It brings out the little rockstar in her. I love the energy of the teachers and how they inspire the kids to do their best! I would give it 5 out of 5 stars, but the cost is high for lessons and camp.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Awesome music school, especially the performance program. Great community of kids.
My son has been in SOR for several years. He is thrilled with the level of instruction, quality of instruction, support and friendship with the staff and fellow students and the opportunity to play in a group. Great format. We are thrilled.
School of Rock is the best! I recommend this school to anyone with a passion for music.
