Absolutely love school of Rock. We tried guitar lessons from other music stores and my son just didn’t stick with it. He loves school of rock. They have a completely different approach. Highly recommend!
amazing music school with great music programs for every age that always has you learning new things and even life lessons!
Eric is an outstanding Director!
Tina is superb Office Manager!
The instructors are amazing and highly knowledgeable!!!!
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

School of Rock is a perfect outlet for creativity and learning.
Nice staff and very accommodating if possible!
My son is so happy at his new music school. School of Rock Chicago is a legacy school that has so much talent and really challenges him. The professionalism and knowledge the instructors/staff have is going to bring him to the next level. Onward and upward at his new home away from home. Rock On!

School of Rock Geneva has been such a gift to our kids. Not only do they get the experience of learning a musical instrument but they also get to experience what it’s like to be supported and encourage by the amazing staff and their peers during performance group. To top it all off they perform live rock concerts to the public. So not only are they getting support and encouragement but also validation of their self expression. This has increased their self confidence and created ease with expressing themselves. The magnitude of positive change I have seen in my kids since starting at SOR is exponential. They have become a part of a community that is a home away from home. They feel safe and they are inspired, doing what they love with people that they love and they are having a blast! We are beyond grateful that SOR has created this amazing program for our kids!
Positive, supportive, and encouraging place to grow in musical skill. This has been a place of welcome and belonging for our child.
My daughter loves SoR-Geneva! The instructors are young and connect with the kids. My daughter looks so forward to her three-hour-one-night-per-week band practice and wishes they could get together more often!
She also enjoys her private coach and even asks to cut our vacation time short so she can get back for her SoR days! SoR is organized and as a parent, I appreciate their daily communication via email. My daughter performed in her first SoR show this past weekend and it truly was the highlight of her 16 years of life! Thank you SoR – Geneva!
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.

I have been attending School of Rock for almost 2 years, and it is a great way to explore different types of music in a fun way. School of Rock Plainfield has a great atmosphere, and the teachers and people there are awesome to work with! Ive learned a lot about my instrument, performance, and much more through this program.
My 2 girls came home excited on their first day. 1 plays bass thebother guitar. They were so proud they could play their favorite song after day one. They love it. The instructors are cool. The communication from the school and staff is Awesome.
I have talked highly about SOR-Plainfield and have recommended this school and I will continue to recommend it. ROCK ON!!
I love how my daughter has grown in confidence and how she has an opportunity to study music and be a part of music. With her ADHD her school restricts her ability to participate in music classes. She has wanted to take music in school since she was in grade school. The School of Rock has finally allowed us to give her the music “class” she has wanted so much. She shines! My daughter is an accomplished singer and can sing in front of an audience with confidence. The support and camaraderie at the school of rock has been such a positive influence on her life. I recommend the School of Rock to any parent with a child that has or a child that doesn’t have ADHD because it is such a positive influence. Positive experience! We Love the School of Rock!
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.

School of Rock has drastically changed my outlook on music and team work. You realize just how much fun it is playing in a group or in front of an audience, and not just in your bedroom. I’m so glad I signed up for vocal lessons, and so glad I got the teacher I did. Everyone here is extremely friendly, and it really feels like a family. I would recommend School of Rock to any musician, aspiring or even professional, purely for the fact that this place makes my day and makes me a better musician.
My daughter has been a student at School of Rock Evanston for going on 2 years and LOVES the time she gets to spend there. The school is filled with teachers, young and oldish, all passing along their love of making music to a younger generation. The community is very welcoming and my daughter feels valued and supported by everyone in it. I HIGHLY recommend giving your kids this kind of experience, mine has benefitted immensely from her time here!
Love this place!!
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

These guys have responded quickly and easily to the challenging times. We got online for lessons as soon as they were available and it has been a great experience! Thanks for keeping us engaged and learning!!
We LOVE School of Rock Highwood. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure my kids have the best experience each week. They have grown so much over the past few years and we love hearing them play with their bands. We love that they have the opportunity to learn their own instrument with amazing teachers and also work with a group each week during band practice. Highly recommend School of Rock Highwood for kids all all ages!
The administration and instructors are really working hard to continue lessons and rehearsals through zoom. I appreciate my daughter continuing her lessons and maintaining that connection with her band.

We love everything about School of Rock! The teachers are fantastic and invested in their students’ growth in all areas of music and performance.
School of Rock’s philosophy of teaching is through songs. It has proven to be a greta way to teach me how to play the electric guitar. I recommend The School of Rock to anyway wanting to learn how to play any instrument!
My son is 13, is pretty introverted. He is mostly into gaming, accept when it comes to going to his lessons and rehearsals at The School of Rock. He sincerely LOVES this place and it has brought out so much personality in him. Music, being a part of a band, the teachers, is helping him come out of his shell- and express himself. I can’t wait to continue this journey and watch him have a great time in this positive environment.

My daughter enjoys every second of her time at SOR Mokena and it has been the bright spot of her week since she started. The staff are extremely accommodating and really have it together despite the challenges this year has thrown their way. Nate is the absolute best guitar instructor and my daughter has already learned so much in her short time at the school. She’s been exposed to a lot of music, both new and old, and her confidence has exploded as her skills have grown. We love it here!
Our really likes that he can learn at his own pace without judgement or pressure.
Love this place. School of rock has done tons for my daughters confidence! Bringing her out of her shell and developing her talents…
The staff makes students feel welcome and comfortable in such a creative environment!
Highly recommended
Summer Camp is so much fun for my guitarist! It brings out the little rockstar in her. I love the energy of the teachers and how they inspire the kids to do their best! I would give it 5 out of 5 stars, but the cost is high for lessons and camp.

My daughter loves the zoom voice lessons and her in person band practices.
My son is shy but they have managed to make him feel comfortable singing his heart out. He loves music and we feel whether it’s as a music teacher or singing in some capacity we’re hopeful that the school of rock gives him the confidence and foundation to pursue music.
He is hyper and all over the place but music gives him something to focus on! We couldn’t be happier with the school. They genuinely care about their students!
I am a self-taught guitar player and was in a rut. I joined the adult program 2 months ago and cant believe the impact this program has had on my playing (skill, confidence, playing live). SoR takes safety seriously but it also feels like a community of music when I’m there. GREAT band directors and they know how to bring out each person’s skills in a pressure-free environment. I really wish I had done this sooner.
My son had an awesome time at School of Rock today.
Love School of Rock! The approach of mixing individual lessons with a band of peers and actual performances is perfect for learning and staying motivated. The instructors are great, and the bands have a chance to play venues all over the area. We have been with the school since they opened a few years ago. Our son has moved from guitar and bass to drums, and had a great experience with each instrument. The staff is responsive and friendly, the kids have developed real friendships, and they are playing great music (no hot cross buns played on repeat at this school).
Kind and informative. But not very professional on the phone.
