My nephew Cameron does guitar lessons with Tommy. He really loves it. Tommy does a great job. Really happy we chose here and got Tommy.
My 13 year old daughter loves it here! She is guitarist and has been playing/taking lessons for 9 years.
When the studio opened, we thought it’d be a great place for her to grow her knowledge of music. She did a songwriting summer camp and really loved it. Since then, her interest in music has expanded exponentially. She takes guitar and drum lessons here, and also takes performance band (which is seriously the coolest concept ever).
I attribute her passion to the warm, welcoming, and safe environment the owners and teachers have cultivated here. The teachers provide nearly instant feedback when a lesson is finished. The end of the term performances are so fun – it is so amazing to watch the kids learn how to perform fun songs for an audience!
If your kiddo is interested in music, this is the place to be!
Love this place from the owners to the instructors

Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

This state-of-the-art facility is efficiently and professionally run and maintained, and all current health and safety guidelines are well in place and practiced. It’s a work space that any artist and technician can walk into with confidence, and know that whatever the goal at hand is, be it lessons or recording sessions, the outcome is bound to be successful.
I have personally played gigs with many teenagers who came out of this program and they play like professionals, with top-notch proficiency and excellent attitudes! I recommend this place more than any other in the Metro Detroit area!
If you’re thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.
Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you’re looking to get into music.

The new Community Music School building is well organized, and the design of the place is colorful and welcoming. It provides good music lessons and a place to practice on percussion instruments. The percussion studio is also much improved.
Great local music school that has private (Suzuki) lessons for violin, piano, winds, etc
Pretty limited parking here, but the Ten Pound Fiddle puts on great concerts here.
It is horibl
Small space, good show
Michigan State University College of Music
Address: 333 W Circle Dr, East Lansing, MI 48824 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Many fine teachers and artists in the college of music. Great concerts.
The percussion room is great! It has a nice 5-octave marimba and multiple other marimbas and instruments. Also, the performance hall is excellent.
I left a message requesting tickets to the Jazz Spirituals concert and was surprised that not only was my message returned after their Holiday break but they offered to mail the tickets to my home! Happy camper.
This is one of the older, traditional buildings in the old part of the Campus. Mostly office and rehearsal spaces, but Cook Recital Hall is the scene of a lot of student and faculty performances.
My Fiance goes here and it seems like her masters program is top notch.
Undergoing a lot of updates and expansion. The facilities are out of date and all need a big update. May increase score to a 5 when the refurb and expansion is complete. The programs they offer are great but like all schools the program you want may or may not be what you want.
My experience with the admissions department was very frustrating and disappointing. I auditioned for the Woodwind Specialist MM program. I received a letter from the graduate school at Michigan State saying I was admitted. I even received the same letter in snail mail. A week later I received a letter from the music department saying that I wasn’t admitted for the Woodwind Specialist program, but they would admit me for the clarinet performance MM if I desired. When I called asking why I received the first letter from the graduate school, the man seemed confused and said I [didn’t] receive a letter because it wasn’t in the records. Why would I make up receiving a letter that I was admitted? He reiterated their policy that the letter from the music department comes first. I said that obviously, their letter had NOT come first. When I emailed a copy of the letter I received from the graduate school saying I was admitted to both the associate director and the director, I received NO response. My problem was NOT with the faculty’s decision. My problem is with the administrative issues. It does not speak highly of the university and does not motivate me to spend 30K on tuition. Simple empathy or an apology of some sort would have gone a long way. Instead, I am sadly writing this Google review to tell you about my experience.
Canton Music Academy
Address: 5880 N Canton Center Rd #425, Canton, MI 48187 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
The owner definitely takes customer service to the next level. Talking to him definitely made me feel a lot better and I gotta say he made my day today. Thanks for the call. Awesome drum teacher.
Katelynn was very helpful. She really made me feel comfortable leaving my kids there. Love this place.
Situation – my 11 year old wants drums for Christmas. DRUMS. I knew lessons were in order and had nothing but google to point me in the right direction (thank you other reviewers!). Here’s a summary of my experience-
– responsiveness – I got a text within 5 minutes of submitting an inquiry, and a phone conversation right after…this is on a Sunday evening.
– knowledge – all my questions were answered before we ever talked about lesson costs (which ended up saving me hundreds, just from that conversation)
– passionate, personable and professional – all around I have a great feeling about Canton Music Academy. I’ll update once my son has a few lessons under his belt to share his experience with his teacher.
2023 update: my son now plays the drum set for his high school marching band as a freshman (pretty rare!). The early experience that CMA provided helped him grow and discover a love for music. Highly recommend!
It was nice the guitar teacher was knowledgeable and kind. Check it out if kids want music lessions
The secretary it’s not friendly at all.

I take my girls for Piano lessons and my son for Drum lessons. Their teachers are so nice and patient. Grosse Pointe music Academy is an amazing place to take your children music lessons. Everyone is so nice and helpful with everything. Love this place and I highly recommend it.
Wonderful place and the teachers are kind and patient, highly recommend. My sons look forward to their lessons every week!
Piano lessons for my GrandSun, Quince Jr.
My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
I attempted to take singing lessons here. Unfortunately, on the day my lesson was scheduled, there was a power outage, so it was postpones. Now obviously this was out of their control, but they told me that they would call to reschedule and never did. We attempted to contact them numerous times about it, and they never got back to us.
The lessons could be the best in the city, but if they’re this difficult to work with…
Interlochen Center for the Arts
Address: 4000 J. Maddy Pkwy, Interlochen, MI 49643 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
An incredible place and a once in a lifetime opportunity for artists to learn from the greatest teachers.
If you can get the tour, you will never forget it. A must see whenever visiting the Crystal Lake area.
Interlochen is currently closed to the public to protect the students, faculty and staff during covid.
I’ve heard of Interlochen before, and know a few people that have attended. This was my first experience going to a concert there. My husband and I got there early to look around. It was really fun, and we enjoyed listening to students practice in the small practice cabins littered throughout the campus.
The Concert itself was great. I saw other people complain about having to bring in a clutch or clear bag instead of a purse. Those rules are stated clearly when you buy the ticket though, nice and big. I brought a clutch and was SO glad I did. The stadium is nice, but the seating is old. So there really isn’t much space for everyone to be bringing in large bags.
Everyone was also great about listening to the music and not taking out your phones to take photos. (Also a rule) it’s the first time in ages I’ve been anywhere were people weren’t taking selfie after selfie the entire time. (People, including me, took out their phones at the very last performance to take photos, and I think that worked best.)
Also, the Tamale Ladies food truck was at the venue! So freaking yummy!
Far from perfect but a great arts camp overall
This is a fine Campground to camp at. Plenty of sites available and nice proximity to Downtown Traverse City. Don’t forget to stop at Bud’s down the Road!
It was horrible here. Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is cheaper and better. Anyways, the cabins leaked, we had a raccoon, and my teacher made our tuba player cry several times. Anyways, Blue Lake has fun teachers, outside pavilion practices, and much more.
Brothers Osborne did a good concert but everything about the venue sucked. From no alcohol to no smoking. Anywhere during the event. Reconsider if your looking to go have fun at a concert!!!
Stood in a very long line to get in. Terrible. Because their new rules about clear purses, we waited about a half an hour walk 50 feet.
I’m not sure I’ll ever come back or recommend this place. People were very upset all through the place. We missed the first band.
The J-RO School of Music
Address: 4084 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Great place with enthusiastic teachers. My daughter really gained not only musical but self confidence! Highly recommended
We have been so impressed with the variety of music lessons offered for voice and instruments plus skills like songwriting and recording that other places do not offer. It is a very supportive environment and my daughter looks forward to going every week. No matter what the skill level, this is a great place to nurture your talents.
I started J-ro in October. My voice has drastically changed since then, in a great way. Everyone there, staff and students, are so nice and accepting. You can tell the teachers there put everything into what they do. Every week I look forward to going to my lesson because I grow so much every week. Thanks J-ro for everything. :))
Classes are good but sometimes you can’t hear yourself even with the headphones as some instrumentalist will be playing acoustic instruments
We’ve been attending for several months now, underwhelmed by our child’s progress. Appears to be partially attributable to poor management
Dixboro Music Academy
Address: 5155 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Only stopped in for a drink but the place is beautiful and this paloma was amazing. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Hope to go back and try dinner soon!
I’m so very happy Dixboro music academy is now open! Great teachers and professional staff. I couldn’t be happier
My children and I had with a wonderful experience at Dixboro Music Academy!
Our teachers, David, Silver, Charlie and Tyler were highly knowledgeable and incredibly inspiring. Their passion for music shone through in every session, created an environment where learning was a joyous experience. Their dedication to their craft and their ability to convey complex concepts in a simple and enjoyable manner truly defines their exceptional teaching skills. Their guidance and expertise not only helped us improve our technical skills but also deepened our appreciation for various musical styles and genres and of course, our love for music. We were encouraged to explore our creativity while fostering a sense of confidence and personal growth within us. We have so much appreciation for the whole team for their outstanding commitment to providing top-notch education and music instruction. Our time with Dixboro has been invaluable, and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend their services to anyone seeking a positive and enriching musical experience.
Interlochen Scholarshop
Address: 4000 M-137, Interlochen, MI 49643 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
I worked at the beautiful arts academy for 5 seasons. Including the scholarship. They have a lot of good deals and all your school needs.
I am going to assume the requested review is on “Interlochen Arts Camp” & not “Interlochen Scholarshop”, which I don’t even know! The Camp itself is amazing with numerous subjects, alright quite expensive. It is a sleepaway camp & has a length of 2, 3 or 6 weeks, I believe. You have to apply & get in after a rigorous selection process.
Very nice and unique. I wish I would have bought the coffee mug that said “# is a sharp not a hashtag”
Nice little store. Has all the necessities for a summer of arts camp. I wish the apparel selection was a bit more up to date, but overall the shop serves its purpose.
Good for getting what you need on camp
University of Michigan
Address: 500 S State St, Ann Arbor, MI 48109 , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
My grandfather, my father and two uncles studied in University of Michigan
I’m going to University of Michigan!
Sometime, i willbe there, thanks
Is this is a public University?
Public school? Hardly. You don’t get kicked out of public schools for not paying. No, it’s a publicly funded PRIVATE school. What’s a word related to “private” kids? That’s right. It’s PRIVILEGE.
Clearly your professor Lipold has no idea about basic history and his antisemetic bias should not extend into the public university. You are not paid to boycott, protest and discriminate. The govt needs to step in and investigate the professors with their blantant discrimination and defund these institutions that discriminate against other countries.
Good school, but no real wolverines…
This is the college that forced one of their professors to resign for the crime of showing Othello by William Shakespeare. I would rate zero stars if i could.
Michigan State University
Address: East Lansing, MI , Kapyl’ski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Great experience!! Awesome under-grad, Political science pre law program!!!
Beautiful place. Good education.
Best years of my life!!
One of the best universities in the world. Such a big campus. Provides all the major courses. Completely student driven college
Didn’t quailify for study
It was very Michigan State-y.. how does one rate a University?
I graduated from MSU. I did not have the best experience. Overpriced, but the campus is nice…that explains tuition and on campus food rates. We’re paying for the campus to look nice. Professors, terrible. I didn’t learn anything my 4 years here.
Disgusted by some of the far left professors at this University, such as Ron Fox, who have been caught harassing their students online who disagree with them about issues such as Climate Change. Teachers shouldn’t be trying to indoctrinate their students! They should be teaching how to think, not what to think. Don’t pay top dollar to send your kids here, it’s not worth it to have them come out hating their country.
Not to stand out like a sore thumb, but my experiences with MSU have never been pleasant. Taking a campus visit I was greeted with rude staff who tried their best to make my day horrible. The students are…how can I say this? Wild animals. The classes are too large for any professor to know you as anything more than a number and the atmosphere is beyond unwelcoming. I’m not sure whether or not I was just caught in a bad day, but as far as I’m concerned I’d rather be studying in Hell. It was THAT bad.
