very based 10/10 would recommend the environment is very friendly and encouraging
School of Rock West Hartford has been an amazing experience for my 11 year old son. He is quite shy but has always loved music and playing guitar. The performance aspect of School of Rock has really allowed him to showcase his talent while also meeting other kids and working with his bandmates. He gained a ton of confidence. The staff is always super helpful and encouraging – highly recommended.
Wanted to share some feedback about our School of Rock experience so far:
Fun environment
Knowledgeable and fun instructors
Helpful Verbal Feedback and written feedback provided within 24 hours
My child (age 12) enjoys practicing and has a great relationship with her instructors.
Genuinely enjoying her time there.

Lots of fun, great staff, great teachers, I really like it!
My boys have grown and thrived at School of Rock. What began as an additional activity for our younger son to explore his interest in percussion as become a mainstay with both of our sons. We are on our combined 7th showcase heading into our eighth. One music director in particular, Tyler Bernhardt, has had such an impact on our oldest son that he composed his essay application as a camp counselor based on Tyler’s character and his impact on him as a youth advisor. There were no fewer than 20 individuals in a leadership role that he could have used as an example but he chose Tyler. The impact of positive role models on young people imperative. School of Rock in New Canaan is an exceptional place to engage your child in music.
Excellent program! Friendly staff! My daughter can’t wait to go to her class each week
There’s a lot of kids in these programs… some work harder than others and it’s clear they have their favorites. If you’re not one of them, it will just be an average experience, so don’t be fooled by the high ratings. Unless you really push for it, don’t expect much.
Boulder Ridge Day Camp
Address: 104 Goose Green Rd, Barkhamsted, CT 06063 , Winsted , Connecticut , United States
Amazing this is the first camp I’ve ever had real friends in for more than a year! I love all of the staff and everyone there the activities are so much fun and we always have a blast! I’m so happy I’m attending this year even if it is my last as a camper I hope to come back as a CIT though
My kids have been going to Boulder Ridge for four years and have had such a wonder time each summer. My wife and I are particularly grateful for how well the staff handled all the uncertainty around Covid, giving the kids as normal a camp experience as possible. The swimming lessons have been invaluable to our daughter and our pre-teen son got so much out of his experience as a Leader in Training, helping the little kids with some of their activities (despite some initial reluctance!). They love all great activities, especially the ropes course and crafts (though we probably don’t need any more hand-made slime brought back home). Thanks so much to all the friendly, helpful counselors. Our kids will be back.
Amazing!!!
My nephew went here and niece worked here and neither liked the experience. My nephew thought it was boring and didn’t like most of the staff and my niece said the administration cared more about how the camp looked than the kids and staff. My family will not send our kids there again and we will encourage other families to do the same. I am upset I paid the amount I did for my nephew to go just for him to have a bad time and upset with how they treated my niece as an employee. I recommend not sending your kids here or even applying.
horrible, administration does not take care of their staff and kids. they only care about how this camp looks and it is DISGUSTING. everything in this camp is unsanitary and it needs to be stopped.
Owner is an extremely disrespectful human. Would never bring my kids near Evan.

School of Rock Ridgefield is amazing. We’re consistently impressed by the program! The instructors do a wonderful job at creating a supportive environment and they foster a love of music in their students. They encourage the students to step outside of their comfort zone and make the process so much fun. The lessons and band practices are offered at a wide variety of days/times so you can always make it work with a busy schedule. Overall, we’ve had such a positive experience and are beyond impressed with our child’s growth since starting at School of Rock Ridgefield.
What an amazing program, I can see the improvement in my son not only as how to play but how to present himself.
He is way more confident….so thank you School of Rock!
We like the freedom that the kids have, to try new instruments . We love that they really can experience what preparing a concert means. Is way more than a classic music school, the lessons are way more than regular music lessons……is the full package of experiences and emotions that play in a music band can give, and kids love it!

I like that the lessons are structured around a goal. Over the last few years, I’ve learned and played in a variety of genres, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass. Every cycle, there’s an opportunity to add new styles, techniques, licks, song structures, chord voicings and more to my abilities. Plus, the chance to play with other musicians and learn from each other and the show directors is pretty cool. Hard work, but steady progress and a great time.
My teacher Tim Stone and director Alex Swift are true professionals and outstanding at their jobs. I cannot say enough great things about the Fairfield School of Rock. I also love the tremendous positive energy and encouragement from all of the other employees. This is a great franchise staffed with highly qualified positive individuals. Double everyone’s pay!! I think most (and perhaps ALL) of my band mates in my program feel the same way!
I like the instruction, encouragement and individualism that my children are taught at S of R.

Great set of instructors that keep you engaged and excited to continue learning. Learn the songs you love not the songs from some book that nobody really wants to learn. Staff is very nice too. Can’t go wrong
Camp Awosting
Address: 296 West St, Morris, CT 06763 , Winsted , Connecticut , United States
My son loved this camp. He attended overnight for 2 weeks in 2019. He said the staff was very nice and friendly and he had lots of fun! Go camp spirit! They gave him time to relax and didn’t pressure him to extend the stay which some camps do which was important to us. We were only looking for 2 weeks. He would go back. He loved the racetrack! He enjoyed it very much. I would recommend Camp Awosting! They have renovated so much since and I think your kids would have a great time at this camp! Check it out!
Very communicative staff from first interactions until picking up child on last day of camp. Lots of different activities both sports and on sports related. Wonderful welcoming staff and vibe on drop off day. Sim loved the food and options, great pictures updated often. Great options for the older campers. Spacious sleeping bunks, overall a wonderful- but pricey experience!
This is my son’s fourth year at Awosting. He cherishes his 4 weeks there every summer and is always sad to leave his counselors and friends at the end. Awosting is a special place that let’s boys be boys in the best, most respectful way.
It turns out our son was not a summer camp kid. He still found counselors to love and a positive experience at Awosting though. Our daughter is going into her sixth season with Chinqueka and they both did summers with Eagle Rock too. Ebner camps have worked well for our family for years!
Great camp with tons of fun activities for the campers!
My boys attended the camp for 2 weeks, they came back home HAPPY, they enjoyed so much their time there!! I. They bonded immediately with their cabin counselors and new friends.
We got the international package, for their flight back home. So the camp staff camp drove my boys to the airport and took really good care of them and stayed with them the whole time until they boarded the plane.
I’m giving 4 stars, only because the bed linens they rented us although clean were a little bit old and worn.
In general it was a great experience for our boys!
Worst camp ever
As a sole parent looking to send my kid to a summer camp was something I had both longed for and saved toward. I had a handful of conversations even with the director to ensure the program would it indeed be the right choice for my kid. I asked for certain things to be honored that were extremely important regarding bunking etc. Long story short, they didn’t live up to any of my expectations or even a single proclamation. All the “glitzy” looking events are designed to catch your eye. They’re not much better than what you’d get at a rundown amusement park. The gear is old and tired. I was promised being able to communicate with my child via letters. This system never worked. I was also told I could reach my child by phone. This ended up being a arduous process such that they essentially have three phone lines for 120 kids for all parents to try and reach their kid through, leading to countless futile attempts. At one point my kid didn’t perform as expected, but well within teenage boy behavior. He was shamed so badly by staff as a result. Staff who are supposed to be so well trained at handling a boys camp, so they advertise. I will never send my kid back to this camp and I have even thought of filing a case lawsuit against them for gross misrepresentation of their capacity and capability, not to mention, failure to honor signed and communicated agreements. If anyone else feels similarly, we should connect.
Some family members went to this camp and had a horrible experience. Admin team is the worst here. If you’re looking for a camp to send your kids next summer, this is not the place.
Rock House School of Music
Address: 52 Collis St, West Haven, CT 06516 , Winsted , Connecticut , United States
Rock House School of Music is by far the best music school in New Haven County. John & Cathy McCarthy and their group of instructors are 100% top notch professionals. They make it feel like a family environment and not a school. You want to learn to sing, they have Kevin. You want to learn an instrument, they have Robert. Their instructors play in local bands so you know you’re getting the best!!! I promise – you won’t be disappointed. 5 Star School, 5 Star Family
The Rock House is awesome! I have three kids (13, 11, 5) who all take lessons there. All of the instructors are knowledgeable and passionate. They have passed on their love of music to my kids, who all love the experiences they have had so far! I can’t recommend them enough!
My daughter did the Band Camp they offer and the experiance was fabulous – To see how in 1 week they came together and performed together is a testament to the instructors and how great the school is – I would recomend if your child is interested in music go and see them – Schools in West Haven and Wallingford

GREAT TIME.
FUN PLACE.. NEVER DISAPPOINTED!. HOWEVER U PAY TO PLAY…. NO DOUBT AWSOME TIME!
Fun
Definitely would come back
Me and my daughter had an awesome time
Great place, but is a drag when wet
Pretty great place for end of year events or company gatherings! The endless food and activities creates lovely endless memories that last a lifetime!
Awesome place for a day-long group outing or company picnic. Entertainment for all ages and interests. The rain-or-shine policy makes a lot of activities difficult if you are there in bad weather. It’s understandable from the business perspective but it would be nice if they were able to make adjustments in that event. Either way, the kids love it. The food, drinks, and activities just keep coming!
Management lady was insane. Verble abuse of staff that worked there like the poor girls weren’t real people and were property. Do not recommend. Toxic environment.
We took our sixth graders her for heir graduation trip on one of the camps designated middle school days. We were all very disappointed as the activities promised were unavailable and the camp was understaffed and dirty. We will not be coming back in the future

My daughter takes singing lessons here. Loves it! Victoria Levy is her terrific teacher.
Wonderful music school for all ages, but mainly kids 8 to 18. Lessons on instruments by seasoned teachers and plenty of opportunities to perform shows featuring the music of classic bands.
Still awesome in June of 2022.
I am now taking drum lessons there. Learning a ton.
There are also week long summer camps.
My daughter just concluded her third summer singing camp with the fantastic Tracy Bonahm (no relation to John?
Greenwood Music Camp
Address: 32 Harlow Rd, Cummington, MA 01026 , Winsted , Connecticut , United States
It’s a very nice place. Teenagers reject the social construct of footwear and play classical music in tiny wooden cabins. Occasionally we play games where people pretend to be dead or where we have to cut a grown man’s beard with impressively dull scissors at around 9:30 PM. The only punishment basically ever given is taking the trash out at night. It’s a great place unless you forget to wash your dishes immediately after you use them…
It’s truly a very Greenwood. We play music and also music and there’s music. Don’t go if you don’t like music because this camp is very music. If you play violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, or horn, then you should Greenwood because Greenwood is Greenwood. Don’t come expecting to see green wood, because you will not find any. However there is music and also real life among us on the last week. I met people at Greenwood. They are all very.
Kids love it. The camp director Debbie is amazing.
this place took nico from me

Loved this camp… our son even returned this summer…and cannot wait until next summer!!
A fun all week overnight experience for Boy Scouts
Great camp with alot of different things to do.
Camp in the middle of nowhere. Which is great for a summer camp! Nice waterfront for the scouts and it was very clean from what we saw. The dining hall was quite large and could accommodate several troops by the look of it. Kind of a hike down a steep drive from the parking lot to the dining hall to meet the scouts. Although golf cart rides were available for non-ablebodied folks, it was not readily clear that was what the carts were for. They appeared to be security.
Camp Sloane
Address: 124 Indian Mountain Rd, Lakeville, CT 06039 , Winsted , Connecticut , United States
My son has been going to Camp Sloan for the past several years. He has done sleep away camp for the past 3 years. he absolutely loves it. he makes friends every year. new friends from all over the world. each year he looks forward to going back. The confidence he has gained is incredible. We are so luck to have this camp so close to us.
Camp Sloane is an absolutely amazing place to work and if I could work there all year round I would jump at the chance. I have spent 3 glorious summers at Sloane in varying roles and am about to head back for my 4th summer at my home away from home. As an international staff member the camp offers everything you need, provides you with great support from both management and peers, and allows you to create some of the strongest friendship bonds you’ll ever have in your life. The kids are fantastic and I only wish I could have gone there as a camper too! Working at Camp Sloane has taught me so much and provided me with skills that I have been able to apply to my work and life outside of camp in many different ways. Sloane gives you a safe place to learn and grow and have the best summer of your life.
I have been sending my children to Camp Sloane since 2002. Six of my children have attended. They are safe and have great experiences. They became better swimmers and sailors. They make crafts and sing songs. They walk in the woods. Most importantly they make friends with great people from around the country and around the world.
So it’s got great counselors but the boarding is in tents..
My son enjoyed it. They didn’t communicate the fact that he threw up 6 times in the first two days, but given the fact that even he says it was just nerves I shouldn’t blame them. Dropoff and pickup were run very efficiently. On pickup day you need not exit your vehicle. They call it drive-through pickup. That was the best part. My son loved water skiing but did not like horseback riding because of one “mean” instructor who was short-tempered with beginners.
Kids had a great time both in day camp and sleepaway.
What happened to Connie Smith
I was here in the early 80s. Absolutely hated it.. cried every night to go home.
The counselors back then didnt even pay attention to the kids. I remember being forced into the water when i was petrified of water at that time. The food was gross. Mail hardly got sent out on time. That was hard for a lot of the girls. I really would like to re visit to see what has changed. Maybe see the kuds having fun would help get the bad memories out of my head that have stuck with me for over 35 years!!
Hand foot mouth disease not fun and to be told it’s a fun camp when it’s more like military boot camp, no thanks. Unless you’ve been there as a camper or staff I would never comment on your child’s experience. Never again!! This place is horrible
