So many talented children… Bravoo boys & girls you Rock!!!
Great staff and instructors for my bass player kiddo! Weekly online feedback/assignments from the instructors is awesome. The owners are super nice as well.
Our 15 year old has been playing guitar for 2 years now. He plays until his fingers are raw, he plays until we tell him its too late to blast the neighbors, he plays for our neighbors as they walk their dogs… Where does a kid like this find community? School of Rock has been a great partner so far! We are School of Rock fans!
My son had an awesome time at School of Rock today.
Love School of Rock! The approach of mixing individual lessons with a band of peers and actual performances is perfect for learning and staying motivated. The instructors are great, and the bands have a chance to play venues all over the area. We have been with the school since they opened a few years ago. Our son has moved from guitar and bass to drums, and had a great experience with each instrument. The staff is responsive and friendly, the kids have developed real friendships, and they are playing great music (no hot cross buns played on repeat at this school).
Kind and informative. But not very professional on the phone.

Collin is an amazing GM and is quick to respond to my questions. Mackenzie helps me with scheduling conflicts and is always helpful when I need to make changes. The instructions send strong feedback after each session so my boys can continue implementing tools between sessions. SOR Elmhurst is the location to choose- I won’t say which one, but I had a poor experience with another SOR. So, if you are deciding on which location to work with, I highly recommend Elmhurst!
I can’t say enough good things about School or Rock and the community aspect of this amazing school. My son has been with them for years and just performed at Summerfest 2022 with the house band! The instructors are so passionate and helpful. My son LOVES it! We love it too!
School of Rock Elmhurst provides an incredible opportunity for students to grow as musicians, to learn the value of teamwork and camaraderie from playing in a band of peers, to build self-esteem, and to have fun. The instructors and band leaders at School of Rock Elmhurst are extremely talented and patient with everyone. Our son loves School of Rock! We love watching the shows that he, his peers, and the band leaders and instructors are able to put on thanks to all of their hard work.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. My daughter won’t stop talking about it. Great space, everyone is friendly and I love the vibe.
Wish a few teachers had a little more training in controlling kids. Some kids like to take control of the class and a couple teachers are too gentle in calling them. It effects class time for others.
Very unprofessional.

My son has been drumming here for almost 3 years. We will be continuing for many more. It is a place where kids can learn and appreciate music…rock music! If your child has any interest in being a first class rocker, you’ve got to check it out
The teachers are very patient and knowledgeable.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.
My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This place has been life changing for my child and for our family. If you’re on the fence, just take the leap. You will have no regrets. This is the best money I’ve spent on extracurricular activities. It is an extremely encouraging, positive environment that allows my child to harness her teenage emotions for good and to channel her inner rockstar.
Wonderful teachers at the School of Rock! My son does not want to put down his guitar and has loved performing in local Chicago venues.
Kid-focused programming that builds individual skills in musicianship, performance, & leadership, while also introducing the real impact of teamwork and group collaboration. Great instructors who “get” the various personalities and strengths of a variety of young people.
I appreciate how teachers adjust their plan for individuals as well as the fact that students receive both a solo lesson and a group lesson.
9/10, not enuf jaz

My son takes lessons from Lucas and absolutely loves it! He has learned so much and going to SoR is one of his favorite activities. He’s continues to accel and has gotten so much from the program. The camps are great too!
I so wish this kind of place existed when I was a kid! But I’m so thankful that I can send my kids here to not only learn music basics, but also to get exposure to real music, not the mass produced pay-to-play radio garbage that has swindled the vast majority of the population into thinking The Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback are reasonable artists to listen to. Well F#¢K THAT! You wouldn’t feed your children a steaming pile of cat vomit, so why let them listen to it? Save music, and take your kids somewhere to learn music from people who actually know music.
Thank you for existing, School of Rock.
I can count on one hand the number of reviews I have written but I am so happy with School of Rock in Naperville I had to write a review.
My son has been playing guitar since he was 5 years old but had reached a point that he was loosing interest in the guitar, because he was playing alone. We visited School of Rock in Naperville during the open house this past spring and my son wanted to start that night. He was nervous, his first night but the staff and students made him feel at home and welcome. He played his first show this past summer and is preparing for his second show next month.
The School of Rock in Naperville has done more than put my son in an environment where he can play guitar with other young adults in a show. It has changed how my son thinks about music. He is now taking bass lessons and he is learning music theory. My son is practicing all of the time and excited about playing again, because of the School of Rock in Naperville he had the confidence to try out for the Middle School Jazz Band on guitar and was accepted. He is still in Grade School.
School of Rock in Naperville has found a way to teach life lessons through music. Values like working hard for something you want, helping others and working in a group. They do this with something that is both fun and positive music.
The instructors are great and encouraging during both lessons and rehearsals and they make it fun. The staff has always been professional and accommodating.
Sadly, I can only give School of Rock in Naperville 5 Stars.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.

My son has been a student at SOR Geneva for five years and absolutely loves it! The combination lesson / performance program is what brought us to SOR and is what keeps us! The instructors are top quality and the staff is great!!! I highly recommend School of Rock Geneva to anyone who is looking for a music school. Whether you’re a beginner, advance or somewhere in between, SOR Geneva has a place for you to fit in, advance and grow as an artist.
Very friendly staff and participants in the groups! They truly rock! They made me feel welcome before they even knew if I would be a good fit. They have a contemporary approach using your intrinsic motivation, following your interests, recognize where you are and build on from there. That’s in my opinion the best approach for teaching any new skill or strengthening an existing one. I would strongly recommend Geneva School of Rock!
This place is so cool and they were so welcoming. My daughter had her very first eukelele lesson there today on her 7th birthday and they had a sign and banner for her! Everyone was so nice and I loved the atmosphere!
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.

One of my sons drums with Mac and the other plays guitar with Zach; they both absolutely love School of Rock. Personally, I like the low-key vibe and how the other students act like it is a clubhouse. Everyone is very friendly and supportive.
My son, Liam, has been at SOR Evanston for many years (drums, guitar and bass) and has greatly developed his musical and stage presence skills. The performance series shows are particularly entertaining! Since Liam is graduating HS in May, it will be sad to leave SOR but we’re all so grateful for the positive experience and friendships made along the way. Well done SOR Evanston!
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

My 8 year old had a blast at camp. She learned 3 songs in 1 week and felt like a rock star
I can’t explain how incredibly grateful I am to be a part of the School of Rock community. I found School of Rock when I was stuck, struggling to be a better musician. I hit a roadblock so to speak. I had my first few lessons and my first rehearsal in Performance Group and felt alive again. I was learning, like truly learning, from peers who are more talented and experienced than I am, from instructors who are extremely educated in music, and from people who just genuinely care. I have come so far from having shaky vocals and playing only open chords on a guitar, to having a powerhouse voice and playing lead licks in my performance group as well as making it into House Band, in just over 6 months. Thanks for everything School of Rock!
We love School of Rock! Great experience for my son who loves music!

Great place to learn how to really enjoy and play great music.
The place just looks great
We love everything about this place. Both our boys are students. And we love our School of Rock Chicago West community.
They get the kids playing real songs at real shows in real venues very quickly, which is a great way to learn music and build confidence.
Private lessons help build technique, and ensemble classes teach cooperation, responsibility, and showmanship. And it’s all done in a fun, mutually supportive atmosphere.
The staff are very kind, accommodating, and welcoming. And it’s just so much fun to see young musicians grow in ability and confidence.
Send your aspiring musician here!

My son has been working with Jack for about two years and has participated in several camps as well as band practice. Jack is an amazing teacher, great with kids, patient and knowledgeable. I have also taken lessons with Jack and he is equally wonderful with adults.
This School has great, well accomplished instructors. This is supplemented by the fostering of an environment where people with similar aspirations get to play with one another is front of audiences. I would recommend this School to anyone looking to learn to play an instrument.
Very professionally run by professionals!
Summer Camp is so much fun for my guitarist! It brings out the little rockstar in her. I love the energy of the teachers and how they inspire the kids to do their best! I would give it 5 out of 5 stars, but the cost is high for lessons and camp.
