My kid feels like a rockstar taking lessons here.
His confidence has been significantly boosted after only 2 months! It’s the instructors, the staff, the vibe of the place and that he is learning to play bass to songs he loves. Worth every penny!
My daughter has grown so much as a musician, and she has so much fun!
Friendly and knowledgeable employees & instructions.
The other night while I was making dinner, my son was in one room going through my ipod and playing as many Beatles songs as he could while my daughter was in another room learning Rolling Stones songs on her guitar. My son had participated in the the School of Rock Summer Beatles camp and is still so amazed by the experience, wanting to go back next summer. My daughter, a ‘veteran’ School of Rocker having participated for at least three years now, is gearing up for her new Fall Rolling Stones Program. School of Rock has given her a place where she has been able to become a confident individual. It is a comfort zone for her. Not to mention that she has become a pretty good guitarist and has the stage presence of Keith Richards!
Not great considering how much it costs.
Enrolled my 4 year old in their class. No ability to watch the class. Not even from a camera to video screen.
Sorry, but if you want my money, you need to provide some method of oversight.
Disappointing.

My son is a drummer and joined to apply his years of lessons into a real band situation that the other music lesson place did not offer. He LOVES it. Staff are fantastic and he has made some great friends here too! Highly recommend.
My five year old loved the school! She feels like a rock star 🙂
Our child is thrilled going to DC School of Rock. Now he wants to go every day. The attention that he gets is unbelievable. Thank you so much to Chris and his team for delivering marvelous experience for our kids. Keep up the great work!
Owner contacted me about working there, was rude and inconsiderate on the phone. Very disappointing.
Beware! While the program might be interesting, the Cleveland Park location is poorly run and it will bring you more headaches than benefits.

My daughter has been at SoR for a little over a month. In this short amount of time she’s grown as a guitar player, but most importantly she loves it! She can’t wait to go back every week. Great service and wonderful teachers. Thanks for cultivating my daughter’s love of music into something more.
We are a part of the Vienna location and the team worked with us to find the ideal lesson time and instructor for our son. Both Brian and Travis have been professional and supportive.
They are super fun while instructional. It takes the work out of learning music and turns it into a passion
Soundcheck Rock Academy

My daughter and I both LOVE Soundcheck Rock Academy. She had Sophie for her voice teacher and I had Mike teach me ukulele.
Mike is so very patient and kind. With no previous music background whatsoever, I received a ukulele as a Christmas gift three years ago and began to teach myself using online videos. My husband thought I would benefit from in person lessons and I had the privilege of having Mike as my teacher. He had to really start from the very basics with me. He is an incredibly gifted musician and I am amazed at his ability to hear a piece of music and recreate it instantly. He thought me things I could have never mastered on my own. I so much enjoyed our lessons. He is easy to converse with, very humble, kind, and talented. The staff is warm and professional and very accommodating to our crazy family schedule. It was easy to make up classes and Dave is a great communicator! The owner is super easy to talk to as well! Overall this has been an amazing experience!!! Music is such a gift and we were enriched beyond measure by our experience at Soundcheck Academy!!! The place is a gem!!!
Greatest music school ever
We wanted a FUN way for our son to get into music (I did several years of piano, and the mandated practice sessions often felt like chores). After looking at several options, we settled on SoundCheck. From the owner to the instructors, everyone is genuinely excited about music (most are professional musicians in addition to teaching), and they manage to get the most from the kids.
The curriculum is focused on playing the instrument, so the students get immediate gratification as they play along with familiar songs. In the process, they’re also learning age-appropriate music theory without even realizing it.
The individual lessons are great, but the real magic happens in the band program. They learn lessons about teamwork, supporting each other, and getting out of their comfort zone – important stuff, especially during those challenging pre-teen and teen years.
As a side note, I’ve been impressed with the school’s response to the COVID-19 crisis. They offer online lessons, which work really well, and for those who want to come to the school for in-person lessons and rehearsals, they have a rigorous program to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible.
Highly recommended as both a creative and social outlet.
My son has taken lessons, attended summer camps and played in the rock band programs at SoundCheck. A great school and a great environment to learn music. Besides Playing guitar, singing and Drumming , my son has learned self confidence, how to perform in front of a crowd and the kinship one achieves when making music with others.
School of Rock

My girls were skeptical going in but they really enjoyed learning the piano and singing.
We have encouraged our 3 boys to try every activity under the sun, from horseback riding to sports to martial arts, in hopes that they’d find something they were super excited about. Two out of three of our boys found their PASSIONS with the School of Rock performance program. (third son enjoys SOR too, but music isn’t his major, MAJOR love.) They have done 1:1 lessons at other music schools with all different instruments and with really amazing teachers, but there is something about the format of SOR, with the opportunities to actually perform songs with a band, that makes it magic. My boys practice on their own and look forward to every lesson and every band rehearsal. Of course, SOR is also well-run and the teachers are incredible, but the kids’ joy is really the best indication of a top-notch experience. I have to say, we were very hesitant about spending the money because regular individual music lessons are less expensive, but I’m having a hard time putting a price on a true lifelong passion, skill, mood-elevator, confidence-booster, means for social-engagement, etc.
The instructors teach with passion and clarity! I love the fact that the students have an opportunity to perform. Keep up the good work.
Hayley the Keys instructor was great. We did our free trial with her and my 9 year old daughter had a great experience. So we signed up for the program.
At 9 she was placed in Rock 101. The kids were mostly younger than her, and it usually felt like glorified babysitting vs becoming a better musician.
Huge communication disconnect re:homework/expectations between the private lesson, Rock 101 and the School of Rock app causing tears that could be avoided and much frustration for parents!
We also tried one of the summer camps, signed up both kids. The fees included “Recording: campers will record their songs with camp directors so that they can share with family and friends!”.
This was not so! I emailed to follow up to receive this keepsake of their song writing, and the school did not have a file to share.

Camp Rock is a safe, fun, organized and wonderful place! So many wonderful activities that you can’t find elsewhere for your children. The staff are very polite and helpful people. I would recommend it for your children.
This camp is a wonderful camp. The experience for the kids is remarkable. Games, fun, fellowship, joy and love. The counselors are very personable and take each child’s interest at heart. Caring and sharing. I would recommend this summer camp. Very respectful, energetic.
Unfortunately, my son will never try it because we were told different things. No accountability and no supervisor available. It just is what it is and I’m glad I got this treatment at first before money was paid. Because we’ve been through too much already to deal with this. And it resulted in him never being placed in the camp. Less than 12 hours ago I was promised a spot then later on I was told they have a very long wait list and won’t accept campers. How ghetto lol… we are attending CAMP SONSHINE INSTEAD. Which has more activities and they are ALL included for less. I just hate the unprofessional dismissive and rude thing when dealing with people. A reply was sent to me about a family restitution program I know nothing about that and the payment is made directly with cash the behavior was unprofessional and ethical and working in such a manner will not sustain a healthy business relationship community relationship I have a good rapport with the community I did speak to someone else they also had a bad experience prior to enrolling and if they knew they were booked since June they should not have giving me false information. Nonetheless I’m very grateful and I’m thankful that God saw fit for us to be somewhere else that I know is gonna be a lot more professional and deal with me accordingly. The reply that was given was more of a passive dismissive reply and it does not fit the situation that is going on with me or that happened to me. And I’m just learning that it’s a nonprofit organization yet the price is ridiculous and they have volunteers and they charge $35 for less than an hour of a horseback ride which you can get a lot less expensive and you can buy packages at the horse stable and the JCC camp does the same if not more and better things for anybody that wants to stay local And they have several horseback riding camp that you can get a larger discount and not pay so much per day just to ride a horse $35 is ridiculous however I still wanted to give it a try based on some of the reviews I’m not sure if the reviews come from family church members or friends but I highly doubt that they are all honest .
Poor customer service, and little more than a landing page for a website. No ability to remit a deposit or payment online. In 2021…
I spent 4 weeks calling their “office” on the days they are open (clearly this is a moonlighting gig that someone is running off the side of their desk on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and leaving messages after attending their open house.
Last week, I finally got through and spoke to the director. After being put on hold 3 times over the course of a 15 min call, I found out that they still had open spots for summer camp. I then asked if they had experience with gender nonconforming children, and she got very quiet. I was then told “we do not have any experience with ‘that sort of thing'”. 2 days later we received a letter in the mail, informing us that their “board” had rejected us.
Praise Jesus Christ for his tollerance and mercy, and let the proprietor’s someday find him and his grace.
Bach to Rock

I am an adult and I started taking piano lessons at B2Rock five years ago. I started from nothing since I had not studied music before. Now, thanks to the guidance of several fantastic teachers, I have had over the years, and to my effort, I am playing some nice pieces, and I can read music. I am very satisfied with my progress. Stopping at the desk and asking about lessons for adults, like me, was a great decision.
I’m loving my drum lessons with Sam. He is patient and a very good instructor. I used to take my son to Bach to Rock for lessons and now it’s my turn.
The teachers are great and they are very flexible with our schedule.
Great vibe in the studio!
My son had fun and learned about playing songs together.
Do not enroll in music lessons at Bach to Rock. As a former instructor there, I can attest that the curriculum is full of errors, the instructors and administrators are largely incompetent, and the meager wage paid to the staff is entirely exploitative. There are more than enough qualified private and affiliated music instructors in the DMV area for you or your child to receive a quality music education. At Bach to Rock you will only waste your money and time, and possibly even damage your child’s musical development. The directors of this company should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to pass this exploitative, profit-driven scheme as music education. An added note that illuminates just how disingenuous this company is: there is no Bach in their “curriculum.” Bach to Rock is like if you had a restaurant called Sandwiches and Coffee, but only sold really terrible, stale instant coffee.
Our experience was not so great. During a couple of lessons, the guitar instructor to our daughter told her he was extremely tired from having stayed out all night. Additionally, when my daughter was sick and we needed to cancel her lesson we were told we’d be charged anyway.
The School of Music

For my mother’s birthday I got her harmonica lessons. She had the best time and learned so much! I won’t go anywhere else for lessons. They are so friendly and treat us like family. I personally took lessons at a couple other places and they will never stack up to the teachers at The School of Music! This really is the best place for lessons!
Kevin and Glenn are super friendly, competent, and talented teachers and musicians. Their lessons are low stress and fun, and I’ve progressed to being able to jam with other musicians, which is the best.
Everyone from the owners (who teach as well) to the teachers and support staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Our 9yo son has been taking piano and violin lessons for over a year and he enjoys his time there. Maybe dad can pick up the guitar again and grow a pony tail… uh NO.
I DID NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!

We have 100% appreciated how hard School of Rock has worked to open and keep classes on schedule this last Covid year. The method app has been a good way to communicate assignments and keep my teen boy on track. Thanks all for the good work and even better concerts!
The best music school ever. I would give 10 stars if possible. My daughter started because she was a very shy kid and all attention and care of the teacher made her a much more happier and self-confident child. Music can make magic on someone life. Now beside a happy kid, I listen to awesome guitar music as bonus! Thank you so much School of Rock Alexandria!
Very welcoming, friendly and great with the students!
My daughter had her 7th birthday party here (Rock Star Party) and her and her little friends had a ball!
Bach to Rock has been responsive, and all the staff members have been friendly. When an early childhood offering wasn’t available, they found a solution that works for my child, and she is loving her drum lessons with Ethan! She comes home excited to tell us what she learned and is even telling us about the drum beats she hears when we listen to music.
Birthday Parties are not their strong point. Please note this review is strictly regarding their birthday parties. If your child attends a birthday party here and there are paper hats, plastic sunglasses, & plastic bead necklaces on the table, just collect them up and put them out of site of the kids! Those items are REUSED at each party! Kinda yucky, because I highly doubt they are spraying them with Lysol between each use. Also the parent who was hosting the party had no clue the kids couldn’t take these items home until the manager on duty told her while she was cutting the cake at the end of the party. At the beginning of the party, there were 3 “party hosts” and not a one said anything about those items not being kept by the kids or that they are REUSED for each party.
The 3 party “hosts” seemed very overwhelmed with all the kids and their energy levels. As it turned out the party “hosts” were only there to desperate the kids in groups and teach the kid’s to play the instruments for the song they recorded. There was nothing wrong with that but, definitely calling themselves “party hosts” gave all the parents a different idea of thei role at the party. The parent hosting the party wasn’t told that was the only job of the 3 “party hosts”, so when the groups of kids started coming back from playing their instruments, their wasn’t a plan for the kids. 1 host did come back but it was very apparent he wasn’t very kid oriented in regards to parties. He didn’t lead them in games or songs just mentioned the kids would eventually be called back to sing, but didn’t give a specific timeframe. Turns out the “time to sing” was while they were eating pizza. LoL
Please note, all the parents stayed for the party, but all of us were clueless as to the timeline of the events and what our “party hosts” were going/not going to do. Now the kids had a great time overall but I think the empty stage with mics, drum set, guitar, & keyboard had a lot to do with it.
Overall, I wouldn’t suggest a child’s birthday party here unless you keep the group to 6 kids max. Don’t expect for the “party hosts” to do anything and definitely bring your own goodie bags!

A beautiful space with wonderful classes for all ages.
I love BlackRock Theater For The Arts they give you so much from artwork, music, theater, movies, and so much more. If you live in the area, you must come see what’s going on there. It’s a place for young and old. The play Dream Girls was out of this world. Thank you, Kelly, the art director, for bringing new and exciting events to BlackRock. ❤️
Justo para el valet
Nice at L3 Church every Sunday 10:30am
Good venue to see a show, lovely gallery. Facility showing some wear. New management may improve things…
This place has always been great for local artists and brings up the community spirit!
Everything shut down at midnight…no food, barely any drinks. Also saw someone wearing jeans…not what I expected for the price. Next time tell people the occasions attire so that there is not such a mixed crowd. Wish I could get my money back! Definitely not the way I wanted to ring in the new year/decade!
Just Rock Enterprises
Address: 4000 Rhode Island Ave, Brentwood, MD 20722 , Redland , Maryland , United States
My son has enjoyed every opportunity to develop and display his musical interest at Just Rock. This is an outstanding organization from my interactions with the instructors and oftentimes the owner who is an amazing artist herself. If you are seeking to learn and grow in your musical ability…give Just Rock a try!
Our MSDE preschool/prek educational programs at Academy Child Development Center, has contracted with JustRock for over three or four years and it is worth every penny!
Our JustRock instructors, for music and PE has been nothing short of amazing and blossoming for the children in our programs!
Pre-Covid shutdown, we loved our in-person classes! But now, our virtual zoom classes have been awesome. The instructors haven’t missed a beat!
Our children are learning about musical high notes, low notes, and learning about different instruments and of course they love learning fun songs. The parents even come to us asking about the songs that they hear them singing in the car or at home.
Physical Education classes are active, engaged and educational. The children love the interaction! The instructors are kind, patient and knowledgeable. We are happy to support this Black-Owned business.
Over the last year my band has really enjoyed practicing at Just Rock. The staff are very nice and accomodating and have always been great to communicate with about scheduling.
The owners are really nice, but they’re very disorganized and the studio rooms are treated like dumps. The equipment is beaten down and terrible, components don’t work, and stuff is left everywhere like a 4 year old’s bedroom in complete disarray. It’s simply unprofessional for a real musicians to try to play here. They should know better than for rooms to be unequipped and in such terrible states of chaos. It’s borderline disgusting.
School of Rock

School of Rock is amazing and I am learning how to play the piano very quickly. Highly recommend!
My kids have been going to School of Rock in Ashburn for four years, and they absolutely love it!! They took guitar at another local music store in Ashburn for a year before we switched, and I cannot stress how much they have improved since they started going to School of Rock. Because it’s a performance-based program, they learn so many different aspects of playing an instrument. They don’t just learn to play, they learn to perform. They also have the opportunity to try other instruments, including vocals. We love to watch the shows they put on after each season. No boring recitals for us, we go to shows like Rage Against the Machine, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, and Green Day. The teachers are all very talented, cool, and really enjoy being around the kids. My kids love being around other like-minded kids, and have made so many great new friends there.
I really like how the shows give the kids the opportunity to use the skills they are learning and put them together to play as part of a band in the show. It gives a whole new dimension to learning to play an instrument and helps to motivate them to practice and improve for the show. The show this weekend was great! I’m already looking forward to the next one!
My son attended a week long camp at School of Rock -Ashburn this summer. I loved that he had the opportunity to try out various instruments over the course of the week
– and then display his newfound talents in the week’s ending performance.
I would definitely send him again!
I scheduled initial call with the store manager about my 6 year old kid’s guitar lessons but never received a call so I emailed her about it and she apologized and rescheduled for the following day but she again didn’t call. I called her and left a voicemail and still haven’t received any communication from them. If the store manager doesn’t care to respond to the customers that says a lot about the school.
Reached out to them multiple times and scheduled a joining date for my son. They never got back nor confirmed a teacher for classes. I also informed them about the notice period being served in prior school and then had to find some other school eventually.
Daughter did not have good experience with trial vocal lesson and left almost in tears. Maybe it’s not the right place for beginner vocalist? She said the room was very warm and it was loud with all the other lessons going on so it was not a good intro for a beginner singer.
