How much fun is this! A terrific path towards learning an instrument…. proving the School of Rock is for all ages (I’m 56)…… my son, 10, inspired me…
Total blast.
My son (12) plays drums, and my daughter (14) plays guitar. We’ve been going to SoR Natick since late February and they are having a great time.
It is expensive, especially with two kids going at the same time, but if you count the 2.5 hours a week of rehearsal time + the .75 hours a week of instruction time it comes out to about $23/hour ($325 a month divided by ~14 hours/month). Granted they are not playing for the full 2.5 hours of rehearsal time, it’s still a good value if you consider music store lessons are $25-$35 for a *half* hour.
The performance program also encourages the kids to practice more often then when they were taking individual lessons. If you value working as a team as a valuable life skill, but your child is not a team sports kind of kid (or maybe you’re not a team sports kind of parent…) SoR is a great program for them to learn work as a team while building a skill they’ll have for life.
I have been learning electric guitar here for 2 years best session of my people here are so nice and helpful

What a fabulous community at the Wakefield SOR, my son calls it his second home. The faculty at Wakefield are professional, touring musicians, who are superb at growing confidence and competence. They offer excellent instruction, and have high standards but are really fun, compassionate individuals. Great role models.
Our son really enjoyed School of Rock–instructors, students, practices, and performances. Camp was challenging and fun!
Very professional!
Unfair and whilst going I never felt very welcomed

Connor is the man! Vocal or drum lessons, his approach is fantastic, laid back, but super professional
I absolutely loved our experience here. My 7 year old, who had no previous experience, learned how to play 2 complete songs on piano & drums in just ONE WEEK! I highly recommend trying out a camp. The teachers are awesome and since they teach songs that the students want to learn, they make it fun. It’s a place to learn how to be a musician in a rock band (versus doing scales / learning classical music and fighting about it with your child).
My daughter’s been taking drum lessons at SoR for a little over a year, and the school and teachers really keep her engaged and interested. The Rock 101 program is pretty amazing, as well — what better way to learn than by doing??!! She had so much fun at her first performance and can’t wait until the next one. She’s also looking forward to SoR camp this summer.
And big shoutout to Cassie, who’s been (and continues to be) so helpful and understanding of our needs during our time here.
Update Sept 2023: The Norwood School of Rock fell apart in Spring 2023 due to actions of the owners. Big staff and leadership turnover. They are currently trying to get back on their feet. I ended up leaving due to the culture shock.
Original review: I am learning drums and am part of the adult rock band group at School of Rock Norwood. Combining the lesson with the group is a great way to stay motivated. The group is chill and accepting of all of its members. The staff are zany, super smart, and talented. They get you playing, giving just enough theory and exercises to get you good enough to play, mixed with lots of playing real songs from day 1. Thanks for making my day, School of Rock Norwood!

I had a fantastic time here on a fall retreat with the Harvard Glee Club! This music camp is wonderfully isolated from the rest of the world and instead surrounds you with beautiful greenery. The practice halls are very homely, and the living accommodations are quite decent. Would definitely love to visit again.
It’s a very nice place. Teenagers reject the social construct of footwear and play classical music in tiny wooden cabins. Occasionally we play games where people pretend to be dead or where we have to cut a grown man’s beard with impressively dull scissors at around 9:30 PM. The only punishment basically ever given is taking the trash out at night. It’s a great place unless you forget to wash your dishes immediately after you use them…

Bach to Rock

My daughter loves rock music and it is fun to see her following her passion. Being in a band has given her an opportunity to learn about the importance of commitment; how to work as a group; and that each person’s contribution is valuable. She has gained more confidence in herself. She has recently started taking private lessons at Bach 2 Rock with her Rock Band teacher. The one on one time is helping her grow in her instrument.
Kid friendly classes in all instruments with many time choices
My daughter loved this place from the first time. She wanted also do summer camp there. Teachers are very knowledgeable and caring. Front desk helpful and amazing. Totally recommend it
