The concept of live experiences, practical application of what is taught, and the constant focus on building confidence in School of Rock students are pure genius. I do not know of another program such as this and my daughter has grown exponentially as an entertainer in record time. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
This place is literally amazing, I would never have dreamed that I would playing guitar after only 4 months of lessons, I would perform in one of the coolest clubs in Chicago singing some of my favorite Beatles songs. This School of Rock specifically has given me opportunities I never could have dreamed of getting, such as playing at renowned clubs and venues around Chicago. When I started in March of 2013, I was a total R&B/soul genre type of musician and was solely a vocalist. Now, I love a wide variety of indie, classic rock, modern rock bands, grunge, punk, and even some prog rock. I first picked up a guitar in June, started lessons in August, and can play incredible songs like Band on the Run (Wings) and Knights of Cydonia (Muse). What’s even better about this rock school is the environment we are put into-all the students quickly bond and we all learn from each other. It is an INCREDIBLE program and I cannot thank SoR Hinsdale and Patrick McKenna (general manager and director of House Band) enough for all the professional experience and new opportunities I’ve encountered while here. I learn from the students, the school, the teachers, and the music more everyday.
Builds Great self esteem!! Great and friendly staff

Brought my grandson here after we were offered a free class at the Summer Celebration in Streamwood. Place is clean, instructors are patient and great with kids. Highly recommended for kids that dig music.
My son loves it, and we do too.
Phenomenal staff and amazing studio. We would strongly recommend School of Rock Schaumburg!
Instructors and staff are excellent. Good environment

My kids loved the camp. They learned a ton in a week. Definitely a great find in Downers.
My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

My daughter has been taking lesson here for almost a year and we have nothing except positive things to say. She has enjoyed all of her teachers. They are flexible and understanding when we have to occasionally reschedule a lesson.
My son was in the Little Wings program when he was 5 then progressed to the Rookies program now that he is 6 and is excited to go each week. I love that they have two levels of classes for the younger kids who are so excited about joining School of Rock. The two levels allows for room for different skill levels among the kids that are too young to join the regular SOR programs. In those classes he has been able to play all the rock instruments instead of having to choose just one. He has really loves both of his instructors. They really treat the kids with respect and like they are truly training to be rockers. We also enjoy all shows put on by the older kids. Very well done SOR Naperville!!
Every Tuesday our child is so excited to go to his class, and when he leaves class he is always very excited to tell us about what they did.
The School of Rock programs do a wonderful job of teaching kids how to play music while also teaching them about being part of a team. The benefits of teaching music in a group/band setting go far beyond just learning music. It provides kids with a community of other like minded individuals to learn and be creative with, increasing the engagement and building relationships among peers. The teamwork and group work skills learned in these programs will prove to be incredibly beneficial to the students for the rest of their lives, whether it is in the music or business world.
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!

Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.

Modern Rock Camp was enjoyed by my 13 (almost 14) year old son. He had a great time at the camp with the instructors and instruction. Only feedback for improvement he gave me, would be to divide camps by age.
Nice staff and very accommodating if possible!
THIS PLACE IS MY FAVORITE

Eric is an outstanding Director!
Tina is superb Office Manager!
The instructors are amazing and highly knowledgeable!!!!
School of Rock Glen Ellyn has been a wonderful place for my kids. They have grown – musically and as people. To provide a kid with a music education, as well as a chance to grown in self confidence and belong is priceless.
School of Rock Glen Ellyn is a wonderful music school. The instructors are fantastic musicians and teachers. My son has made tons of progress in the year he has been enrolled there. He has started playing two new instruments, and has greatly improved his guitar technique. The performance opportunities are incredible, and my son has developed a lot more confidence on stage. The environment is warm and welcoming, and the students are really nice kids. A great thing about this school is the interaction among the students – they teach and encourage each other and learn to play together as a band. My son feels a real sense of comradery with his fellow students. I recommend School of Rock Glen Ellyn without reservation. It is an amazing place!
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.

Their staff is always so happy and excited. Makes the experience out of this world.
The music is chosen by the student and so they are really engaged. It makes learning fun and real pay off comes quick! Great attitude of all the staff! Fun, cool. Great approach.
I absolutely love School of Rock in Plainfield, IL. More importantly, my son loves it. As a parent, some positives are: 1) everyone who works there has undergone and passed a background check; 2) they have their own facility so no going to someone’s home or someone coming into our home; 3) very knowledgeable and skillful instructors–my son’s has a music degree even in addition to being able to play guitar. My son’s instructor really connects with my son and discusses music my son likes. Great place! I highly recommend it!
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.

The staff—especially Danielle, Maggie, Alex and Bryan—are terrific! The kids have a lot of fun and learn a lot too. Highly recommend!
Everything has been great, from getting kids playing songs right away, to switching up instruments, and the communication all throughout, I highly recommend School of Rock!

One of my sons drums with Mac and the other plays guitar with Zach; they both absolutely love School of Rock. Personally, I like the low-key vibe and how the other students act like it is a clubhouse. Everyone is very friendly and supportive.
ROCK and ROLL
School of Rock has drastically changed my outlook on music and team work. You realize just how much fun it is playing in a group or in front of an audience, and not just in your bedroom. I’m so glad I signed up for vocal lessons, and so glad I got the teacher I did. Everyone here is extremely friendly, and it really feels like a family. I would recommend School of Rock to any musician, aspiring or even professional, purely for the fact that this place makes my day and makes me a better musician.
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

We have had our son in the Arlington Heights School of Rock for a couple years and it is amazing how quickly his guitar skills have progressed! He takes lessons and also participates in the shows. The show preparation is rigorous but it has really accelerated his skills – it is amazing how the prospect of performing for a live audience compels you to practice! You also don’t want to let your bandmates down. In addition to the musical training, the kids are forced to work together for the performances and get along with each other. I think this side benefit has been almost as important as the musical training. It’s a great program, I highly recommend it. Jim, the owner, is also a great guy!
My son loves being in the Rock 101 band and his private lesson teacher for the keyboard. School of Rock does a great job of keeping the kids interested in learning music and being in a band keeps him motivated to practice the songs without me nagging! This is our third season with School of Rock and so far it’s been great.
I like the different choices that are given for the performance groups. I also like that within the performance groups a private lessons is embedded in the cost. The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable and passionate about music.
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

My son has participated in 3 Performance Programs and taken drum lessons for the past year at School of Rock, Geneva. He loves the experience and has learned so much about what it takes to put on a performance and be part of a group.
He had taken piano lessons for years and played in the middle school band, but this experience is what he’s been looking for. All the performance directors and his drum instructor Brad have been awesome.
I just have to say THANK YOU, to school of rock! My 7 year old was the youngest probably least experienced and the fact she got to play and the AMAZING other students in the band were so wonderful. The program is amazing and I am in awe of the talent of SOR Geneva. I am beyond beaming and cannot not say THANK YOU (see capital letters again) for letting her play. You guys beyond rock!
My son has been a student at SOR Geneva for five years and absolutely loves it! The combination lesson / performance program is what brought us to SOR and is what keeps us! The instructors are top quality and the staff is great!!! I highly recommend School of Rock Geneva to anyone who is looking for a music school. Whether you’re a beginner, advance or somewhere in between, SOR Geneva has a place for you to fit in, advance and grow as an artist.
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
