We moved from out of town to the area and have been SO happy with our experience at this School of Rock!!! My son felt right at home from the beginning and we have all felt very welcomed. Thanks, you guys! You ROCK!

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Every single person I have encountered at Bach To Rock Northbrook has been warm, friendly, and eager to help my children learn and grow with music. My son has been taking guitar lessons there for almost two years and has worked with a few different instructors. Every instructor has met his interests and needs with enthusiasm and helped him grow quickly as a musician. When my daughter expressed interest in learning the flute, she and I were both pleasantly surprised to find out that she could take lessons there as well. She is very excited to have her own 1 on 1 sessions just like her older brother and is learning the basics of flute after just two lessons. The organization’s positive spirit, willingness to be flexible with schedules, and broad spectrum of talent is what keeps us coming back. I highly recommend this school for musicians of all types and ages.
Both of my kids have been going to Bach to Rock for about 9 months and its been an incredible experience. The teachers are amazingly patient with the kids. We have been doing online lessons as of late and the teachers have really become friends to my kids throughout this crazy time. From Victoria to Riley, Shahz and Adam we have had a wonderful experience with each of them….all the staff is so great. I highly highly recommend Bach to Rock for lessons!
I LOVVVVVVE the teachers!!!! Esp Mr. Quinn, Mr. Spencer, & Mr. Jack……..Mr. Quinn is EXCEPTIONAL! He has a special touch w children & is the magic that inspires my boys to play. We LOVE the shows…the opportunity to perform gives purpose & excitement to practicing. We love it here!
Bach to Rock contracted with another local enrichment center in the area to provide a music class for young toddlers (about 10-20 months). The first class was what I call a playdate. The instructor did not engage the children at all, spent 10 minutes taking attendance, and didn’t seem to care about teaching. Another teacher, Mr. Quinn, taught the second class. He played guitar, which was nice, but he had no clue how to interact or what to do with this age group. The third class was a different teacher. She read a long story, tried to do limbo, and was 5 minutes late. I would absolutely not recommend taking any classes through this organization. They have no idea what they are doing and are completely unprofessional.
Don’t do business with this music school..
My son was in a band here for 4 years…Recently the guitarist in band hurt his wrist!
I told them to pause my payments as it wouldn’t make sense to show up to practice missing one of the band members…
They literally told me, band practice is not canceled and you need to show up as you will still be charged!!
Bach to Rock Northbrook they just pretend have music guitar teacher. A teacher must degree a school of music not to learn music from internet. My son was there for almost a year. If you ask what they did in one year they print a chart with what they supose to do but didn’t. He even can’t play a short guitar song but they said he is awesome. When I discuss with my son he told me most of the stuff he never did there but they mark like they dis. Don’t spent your money for title of the school. Find a school with real music teacher.

School of Rock has helped my child have a community and hone where all are accepted. It’s been a second home to him these past 7 years, where he could be himself. And, oh yeah, he’s become a terrific musician too!
I have two girls who are both students at School of Rock Oak Park. The older one joined when she realized what a great time her younger sister was having. They’ve both learned so much about music, responsibility and relationships. It’s a great program.
i’m currently enrolled at school of rock and i’ve only been there for about a month but it’s one of the best music places I have ever been to ! the staff is super friendly and the place is super comfortable ! no one is rude to anyone , which is awesome !
I appreciate how teachers adjust their plan for individuals as well as the fact that students receive both a solo lesson and a group lesson.
9/10, not enuf jaz

Over the 3 years I’ve been here, School of Rock has become my home away from home. The relationships I have formed with the staff and fellow musicians have shaped who I am as a person. My guitar playing has Improved greatly not only because of lessons but also the performance programs offered. I am currently taking 3 lessons per week, participating in two bands offered by the school and interning. It is easy to say that School of Rock has changed not only my life, but almost everyone who goes here. Do yourself or your kids a favor and sign them up for School of Rock. -Sam Frederickson, 18
5 stars
One of my sons drums with Mac and the other plays guitar with Zach; they both absolutely love School of Rock. Personally, I like the low-key vibe and how the other students act like it is a clubhouse. Everyone is very friendly and supportive.
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.
Chicago Summer Music Camp

School of Rock Naperville is an amazing place. My son started with a summer camp which really got him jazzed about playing the bass. He has done performance groups, house bands and had wonderful experiences with all of the above. His skills have grown so much and his private teachers have been just fantastic. The owner of SOR has been very accommodating and customer focused. The manager, Joanna has also worked hard to make it a great place to learn to play music. She is a real rock star and really relates well to the students (as well as the parents). I highly recommend SOR — it’s a wonderful place to get kids/teens inspired about music.
We like the way the kids start playing real music right away, it makes learning an instrument fun. All the teachers we have met are very nice, they are good with the kids, and they understand how to make it fun and engaging. My kids absolutely love going, it is a highlight of their week.
My son loves going to the School of Rock Naperville. He says it feels like family and looks forward to every session. And he is improving his skill level!
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.

My son did a free trial class and loved it, so we enrolled. Happy to have this as an option right in town!
I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with the Barrington School of Rock adult program. I knew that I just wanted to break out of my comfort zone, actually learn some songs that I could play from start to finish, and perform in public. I have been a self-taught musician with a pretty good grasp of fundamental music theory and only beginner-intermediate acoustic guitar skills. Your program in Barrington has exceeded my wildest imagination and it has been 100% the result of your staff. I could not be happier with their enthusiasm, their continual words of encouragement, their knowledge of music, their talent, their teaching abilities, their sense of humor, their playfulness, and their efforts to fill in gaps in the band when we had shortages of adult students. I could not be more impressed with Stephanie, Danny, and Andrew, in particular. Their personalized interest has been outstanding. I have take the most private lessons from Danny. I have learned a remarkable amount from him over the last year. His listening skills are extremely good. He doesn’t just provide a boring lesson. He listens to what I want to learn and where I struggle, then he tailors the lessons to my needs. The follow-up notes he provides are ridiculously good and very helpful. It is not easy to teach music, but both Danny and Andrew can communicate it in a way that makes sense and wants me to keep going. I have learned more songs in the last year than I thought possible and I look forward to what we will do in the next year. It’s also a great opportunity to make new friendships with fellow musicians. I am honored to be part of the SOR Barrington program.
Fantastic place for kids to learn an instrument in a fun environment. The teachers and staff are all excellent and excited to work with kids. They love music but they love kids too. We’ve been to other School of Rock locations and Barrington has been our best experience. I wouldn’t have my son go anywhere else. High quality of lessons, performance experience, and overall atmosphere.
Not really impressed with this school. We went for a trial lesson with every intention of signing up for regular classes. The instructor really had nothing to say to me after my son’s class. I had to approach him myself as he was walking away and still he barely said a thing after I inquired about how everything went. Say something man. Anything. The front desk attendant educated me more than the actual teacher. Just left w a bleh feeling. Not signing up.
This school is only for approved white rich people. Horrible experience with the instructors playing favorites. If I could give zero stars I would. All of these five star ratings are from the parents that have been given preferential treatment. Don’t waste your time, and YOUR MONEY if you’re a hardworking middle class family in this school.

We have been going for about the last 6 years. Now my youngest is also involved. It has been the best experience! I would highly recommend it. For my oldest, 12 years old, it helped him have an outlet and meet new people that shared interests. It made him more confident and he truly has a love of music! My youngest, 5 years old, is a busy body but loves music! He has favorite songs now that we don’t typically listen to regularly. He knows so much about music and loves to share his knowledge. It has taught him some self control as well as how to let loose and have fun! We plan to be with the School of Rock in Plainfield for as long as my boys continue to have a love for music! They are amazing and I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to have teaching and interacting with my children!
My 2 girls came home excited on their first day. 1 plays bass thebother guitar. They were so proud they could play their favorite song after day one. They love it. The instructors are cool. The communication from the school and staff is Awesome.
I have talked highly about SOR-Plainfield and have recommended this school and I will continue to recommend it. ROCK ON!!
My son started taking lessons at School of Rock when they opened last year. Being in the performance group has helped my shy kid come out of his shell. He has learned so much and made many friends while at the school. The staff is terrific. They are very knowledgeable and supportive of the kids.
I can honestly say that I’ve seen a lot of personal growth in my son along with the musical growth. I’m proud of what he has accomplished and grateful to the school for teaching him.
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.

I recently had my 3 year old daughter’s birthday party at Rootz. It was a super organized, high energy dance party for both boys and girls. Miss Jen led the dancing and was awesome with all the little kids. You are also given a party host to help set up and clean up your party. I would highly recommend Rootz as a great party venue.
Rootz has the most amazing theater program for kids. My daughter can’t wait for the days she has Rootz. From the warm greeting you receive walking into Rootz to the huge smiles my daughter and her friends have after class warms my heart.
Rootz has great programs geared to all ages! We have loved a variety of classes over the years, and the caring teachers have kept us dancing there!
Although I’m not comfortable providing information on who I am, I have gone to rootz before and I must say it was fun and a great community, just not what I was looking for. If you want to have fun and do their activities that’s fine, and they generally seem like a great place to go to. But personally when I went there for dance classes I now look back saddened that they didn’t teach me more. With my new studio I have learnt much more and have competed and have found more success….let me repeat specifically competitive success at a third of time compared to rootz. Which is why I give you guys 4 stars as although you guys were great I felt like I was not learning much, the choreography wasn’t as complex as I wished it was and generally wish I could’ve taken those years back and gone to my current studio. No hate just want to share to those who are looking for a good challenging competitive studio, that this isn’t my go to recommendation.
Be careful abt this company , always just want to catch money in , never try it again on private lessons

Staff is great and really know how to keep kids excited about learning and playing music.
We love everything about this place. Both our boys are students. And we love our School of Rock Chicago West community.
They get the kids playing real songs at real shows in real venues very quickly, which is a great way to learn music and build confidence.
Private lessons help build technique, and ensemble classes teach cooperation, responsibility, and showmanship. And it’s all done in a fun, mutually supportive atmosphere.
The staff are very kind, accommodating, and welcoming. And it’s just so much fun to see young musicians grow in ability and confidence.

My daughter took summer camp here and absolutely loved it! She is very inspired and wants to do more! She looks forward to coming every day.
School of Rock Hinsdale provides young musicians great opportunities to learn and feel good about themselves. The ability to advance from Rock 101 to performance groups really allows the students to also develop their personalities and grow as musicians.
School of Rock has been a fantastic place for my son to learn and grow in his love of music. They did an incredible job transitioning to a virtual teaching model and making it fun for the kids! The staff is incredibly kind, responsive and professional. It’s been an awesome experience for the last three years and look forward to many more!

This place is so cool and they were so welcoming. My daughter had her very first eukelele lesson there today on her 7th birthday and they had a sign and banner for her! Everyone was so nice and I loved the atmosphere!
School of Rock has been great for my son. He likes to play with his peers in a band and he really enjoys his one on one lessons. During the shelter in place orders SoR has made adjustments to their learning curriculum and it has worked out well! The lessons translate pretty well to virtual meetings and the communication has been frequent and efficient. They have been offering special online events that are lots of fun. SoR is great!
LOVE. LOVE. LOVE this place!!
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.
