Very cool school. My granddaughter loves her voice instructor Rachel. Open house tomorrow 2/26/22
School of Rock provides such a unique experience for students. All three locations in the Sacramento area have their own charm, personality, and sense of camaraderie. I can’t wait to see the school when it’s finished.
This place is so inspiring for my child. They definitely bring the vibe into music lessons and allow kids to explore. And getting them ready for stage performance!! If your child loves music and wants to learn more about getting on stage and playing an instrument this is the place to go!!!
Would give zero stars it would let me. Scheduled my 9 year old daughter’s drum lesson over phone. She was very excited! Showed up and they had not Scheduled her, drum instructor was gone for the day, and they had no idea what happened? Unbelievably unprofessional, and worst of all, I had to look at the disappointment on my daughter’s face. I thought this was going to be a positive situation for her, instead they let her down.
My disabled partner was looking for something fun to do in-between speech therapies and physical therapies. He needed something to take his mind off of things, something that may also be therapeutic. So, we decided to schedule a singing lesson at the school of rock. His speech therapist agreed, it was a great idea.
Hi appointment was scheduled for May 27 at 10:30am. They asked us to arrive at 10:15am. We planned the days schedule around the appointment. We showed up at 10:15am, as instructed. When we arrived they told my partner the vocal instructor had called in sick. They had been open since 9am yet they didn’t bother to call or email to cancel. They offered to reschedule for the following Saturday. We agreed.
Again they said to arrive at 10:15am for a 10:30 appointment on June 3rd. Again we planed our schedule around the appointment. However, around noon on the 2nd we received an email saying the appointment had been moved to 11:30am on the 3rd due to a staffing issue. We thought “Okay, well at least they contacted us in advance this time.”
We rearranged our schedule for the day. We arrived at 11:15am for an 11:30am appointment, as requested. Again they said someone didn’t show up, they didn’t have enough staff to cover the appointment.
I asked the person at the front desk why they hadn’t contacted us in advance for either cancellation. Their first response was to pass the buck and say “I don’t know I’m only here on Saturdays.” Perhaps this person isn’t payed enough to take responsibility for anything. Perhaps they aren’t payed enough to put in any amount of effort and make the situation right. I don’t know. I can only speculate. After some disingenuous apologies, an ear full of excuses, and no offer to make the situation right, we left unsatisfied.
The bottom line:
This company hasn’t any semblance of courtesy, consideration, reliability or professionalism. They wouldn’t know customer service if it bit them in their bass.

We joined school of rock nearly a year ago today. To say it was a life changing experience barely does it justice. Heather has created an environment that is second to none. She clearly treats her staff and instructors well and with proper respect as I’ve seen ZERO turnover in a year. That is a feat.
Watching my kids flourish in a way I never expected. My, seemingly, shy boy is turning into a man and his experience in front of the mic is part of it for certain. And my daughter has committed to drums in a way I didn’t expect. She even got behind the mic recently to sing which she used to say she was too shy to do! Performing as part of a group is irreplaceable.
The community is what makes this place work and Heather has created a space where community is first in importance. Do yourself a favor. Send your kids here for a trial lesson! Then just skip the wait (like we should have) and just do a trial lesson for yourself for the adult band you absolutely won’t regret it

My daughter daughter took voice lessons at the School of Rock and very much enjoyed the opportunity to learn with other students and to perform onstage with a band. She said she learned so much from the teachers and Tyler, the school’s director.
My children are very fortunate to receive private instruction from the best musicians of San Diego. Not only that, but through their performance program they also get the opportunity to build their identity and expression as musicians, grow their collaboration, increase discipline, experience, and confidence on stage.
My daughter is really enjoying her classes and the whole experience.

My experience with School of Rock has been mostly with private lessons and briefly with Adult Rock band. I have been playing drums for 8 years. Damon has been the perfect drum coach for me at this point. We work on rudiments, on specific songs, on improvisation, showmanship, and we just have fun. He makes me wear ear protection!
The reason I rated a 4 and not a 5 is that there is an element of rigidity in how they do things. But overall, it is an awesome place. Especially if you are a parent with a musical child it is fantastic.

We cannot say enough about School of Rock. Everyone from the staff to the students are simply amazing! We are not residents of Del Mar but we are locals and enjoy many of the shops and restaurants in Del Mar Plaza and the surrounding area. We find ourselves in the area even more now that our son has recently joined a show group at the School of Rock Del Mar in Del Mar Plaza. This past year has been rough for everyone, especially the kids. School is at home, no travel, essentially no outlet for the kiddos. We are so thankful for School of Rock and not only the safety measures they have taken from their opening but for all they have done through the pandemic and currently do. Music has been the one thing that has been constant over this year and being able to get out and play and perform with his peers really made a difference.
Listening and watching these kids, these young adults play has also been very therapeutic for us adults as well. I know as an adult I do not have the courage to even give a speech in front of a crowd let alone what these amazing rock stars are doing. What they learn at School of Rock will help them as they grow, life lessons they will be able to take with them. I know not every song or every group is someone’s favorite but these kids are playing every song with heart and soul and we are truly amazed by their skills. The teachers and staff are amazing and always friendly, most important their students are number one. They are so supportive of all their students. School of Rock Del Mar is overall an incredible place.
Beautiful new School of Rock! Of course the place is an amazing spot to learn how to be a rockstar but this location specifically is gorgeous! From the flooring to the wall art everything is perfect. Right on the beach too! Aside from the vibe of the place the teachers are of course top notch. The guy who owns this place also owns the one in scripps ranch and it’s run just as well. Love this program! Can’t say enough good things about it!
I canceled my services and they charged my account

We are extremely pleased with this summer camp. Our son thrived. We 100% recommend.
Wonderful teacher and staffs. Very well organized, and kind.
School of Rock has taught our son soooo much more than how to play guitar. He’s learned the importance of teamwork, accountability, responsibility, loyalty to his band. It has been an absolutely incredible experience! Thank you!!
Last week, my eight year old daughter attended the song writing camp at the School of Rock in Fairfax. We live in the Bay Area, and travelled down south for my son to attend a filmmaking camp. My daughter is a young musician, and I thought that while in LA, it would be a fun opportunity for her to attend a music camp.
While I am not sure that my daughter actually learned anything she didn’t already know prior to the camp, just being around other young musicians is I think a positive thing. Of the two music teachers, she said that Todd was a friendly teacher and very supportive. However, of the other teacher, Anthony, she said “he was kind of nice, but not really.” Her feelings were hurt when she asked him to write down the chords for one of the songs they’d started creating (so that she could practice in the hotel room) and he responded in a rude tone “do you even know how to play the guitar?” and didn’t write them down. While Chloe has been playing the piano for three years, she only 6 months ago started the guitar, and she’s still learning. Cut the kid a break.
But the thing that really upsets me about this camp is what one of the other employees did (and I am leaving the employees name out in the hope that this review will lead to self-refection and positive changes in their future). For people who are considering sending their child to one of these camps, FYI, they offer to the get the kids a lunch for $10 a day, and I suggest you always send your child with that exact amount. On the first day of camp, I sent my daughter with two $5’s for lunch, and a $20 for emergency. At lunch, she was unable to locate one of the $5’s (which she later realized had simply tightly pocketed itself within the other $5). She went to the employee as they were the person in charge of getting the lunches, and told them that she couldn’t find a $5, but that she had a $20. The employee said that was fine, and then asked my daughter if she would either like her $10 change, or would she rather have the employee keep it and apply it towards the next day’s lunch. My daughter said the employee could apply it to next day’s lunch. But, the next day when it came time for lunch, the employee approached my daughter and asked her for $10. My daughter reminded the employee that she had given her a $20 bill the day before, and that when the employee had told her she could either give her change or apply it to the following day’s lunch, that my daughter had told the employee to apply it to the following day. But, the employee’s response was that they would never do that; that if my daughter had given the employee a $20, they would just give her change, and that my daughter had to give the employee another $10 if she wanted lunch. Unfortunately, the initial $20 transaction had taken place in the small office that the employee sits in, with just the two of them present, so there was nobody to witness what the employee did. Obviously, my daughter wanted to eat, so she gave the employee another $10. This left my daughter believing that one of two things had occurred. She thought either the employee honestly didn’t remember that they’d told my daughter they’d apply to the next day the $10 dollars change owed her (which my daughter found hard to believe because in her words “there were only 8 kids and — is too young to have memory problems”) OR that the employee stole $10 from her.
This was a one week, Mon-Fri camp, and I found about the problem Wednesday morning before dropping her off. I did not feel comfortable addressing this with the employee and then leaving my daughter there. Suffice it to say, I made sure she had exact change for the remaining three lunches. On Friday, I had to send her with ten $1’s and told her to make sure the employee counted them out in front of her. I asked my daughter what she learned from the experience with the employee. She said that she learned you can never trust anybody, especially if you don’t know them. It stinks that my daughter had to learn that from an adult at a music school.

School Of Rock Elk Grove is an Amazing place!! The energy is buzzing!! The students are all excited about their future in music!! So happy to have this music hub for our kids!!
Great teachers
SCHOOL OF ROCK IS THE BEST! I was so impressed with this place. Such a great place for kids. The staff is so great! Wish I found this place sooner. I had no idea my kid would love music and instruments so much. HIGHLY Recommend this place.

School of Rock is a great experience for any budding musician or just a way for any kid to pick up an instrument and have some fun and bonding.
River is my 12 year old son, and he had tried piano lessons elsewhere before but didn’t make much headway. At The School of Rock, he has made huge strides and I’d even say breakthroughs. After 3 months or so of being there, he considers himself a musician now and rightly so. He can play whole songs that HE chose to learn, and he finishes each lesson invigorated and enthused to practice. This is how learning is supposed to be!
Instructors really care about their students. Management goes above and beyond to work with your schedule and requests to make it work for all.

This camp changed my life a musician and a person when I went there. I was surrounded by so many other motivated musicians my age and types of people (my kind of people) I didn’t even know existed before hand. I had directors and teachers that inspired me so much with their ability. They gave clear advice to the group and always found time to help me as an individual when I was struggling. I never grew so quickly in ability and knowledge anywhere else. I could tell hours of stories and experiences of the joy and sense of belonging this camp brought me. Just go! And be ready to play your instruments, hone your skills, and have a really awesome time.

Pat is an amazing, dedicated drum teacher. My son loves it and has grown so much. The communication with Larry is so easy and flexible. You can tell they care a lot about the students and the teachers. It’s an awesome place. Absolutely recommend.
Our daughter over the last almost two years had a blast practicing and performing with her band mates. She’s improved so much as a vocalist and on-stage performer, and that’s due to the awesome efforts made my her instructor Joey Vargas. We’re actually bummed out because she just turned 18 and will have to leave the school. I wish there was something for students that are adults to continue doing since we know she loves it. We do too. She’s got one more public concert to sing at, and I will for sure get emo at that one. Larry and the team at SOR Huntington Beach are above and beyond badasses and my family and I appreciate how cool they’ve been to her and us.
Best place ever for kids!!!!
It’s an ok school there can be sassy people if your going into juniors it’s worst if you are a hyper person you will most likely be liked for a little while and then when someone does a mean thing you will probably be mad but there’s the good times to

They’re organized. They’re fun. The band names/playlists are so creative and expose my child to an array artists and musical styles. The location is great, and drop-off and pick-up are really easy. My child loves it! She loves the teachers, the music, the other kids, and the shows. Rehearsal is the thing she looks forward to most each week. Also, I love that I’m not constantly getting bills–they just charge my credit card and I don’t have to mess with anything.
We love School of Rock West La!!! Your kid will be very happy here and live and love music!
School of Rock West LA has been an amazing experience for my family. The program is well-run, fun and my kids have learned and grown there. Highly recommend.
Great staff great location great music
Kelly who “runs” the school is absolutely awful. She is unprofessional, combative, lacks follow-up skills, lacks customer service skills, and is incredibly rude and unable to resolve conflict. I would never send my child to a place that is run by a person like Kelly. That said, I pulled my child out of the summer camp.

What is there not to like. The best method to teach music. The kids love it, have a blast and learn something they can do their entire life.
The staff are top notch and really care about the kids. Can’t say enough about my child’s 6 years there.
This is the best music program my daughter has ever been involved with ! Not only do they offer the kids lessons by talented musicians but they get the kids on stage and performing . There is no greater learning experience than actually working on the music and then getting to perform it …. My daughter has truly thrived in the School of Rock Las Vegas. The staff are friendly accomplished musicians who seem to really enjoy the kids . We tried a few other options after our move from NY but – School Of Rock is our only choice for my daughter . Great kids – Great Staff – Outstanding Music Education
My son Diego loves taking guitar classes there. Mario is an awesome instructor! I would strongly recommend taking classes at School of Rock!
I like it but they don’t let you watch the class…and it concerns me as a grandmother of a 5 year old ..they say it’s a security issue but can’t explain why we can view on tge TV in the waiting room
Great camaraderie with fellow band mates in adult band and learning how to practice to perform is a lot of fun. The rewards of lots of practice come through at the end of season shows.
My son has been coming to School of Rock (SOR) since May 2021, for 2 yrs. He has had great instructors & directors, & also not so great make-up instructor (that made him cry). The 1st year, he advanced & grew, after that, he started to plateau due to repetition & dullness of the program. His instructor has been great & tried his best to squeeze songs that my kid actually wants to learn, but with band songs that he has to learn it is difficult to learn songs that he is interested in. Aside from this, my issue is with their policies. You have to give them a 24-hour notice if your kid gets sick, or they can’t give you a make-up lesson. However, the school has canceled lessons with a one hour notice. Unfortunately, the school does not open until 2 pm & you’re unable to notify them sooner if your kid wakes up sick that day.
* For reference, we paid $355 a month for a once a week lesson & band. Their policy includes a 24-hour notice if your kid gets sick & a 30-day notice if you want to cancel your membership.
*My kid will miss his instructor the most, but we will look elsewhere for better growth & a more understanding sick policy.
***to the owner***
I did text at 9 am, letting SOR know of my kid being sick. When I called at 4 pm to confirm they had canceled, they told me it had not been canceled yet. I’ve never had an issue in the 2 yrs. Also, it is not just the policies. To be honest, kids want newer fun songs. They keep playing 1980s songs that they’re just not into. Also, in the 2 years, a few kids have enrolled SOR do to our referral, but was bummed that we couldn’t even get one make-up day for being sick. Feel free to call me if you want to discuss this further. Once again, the instructors & directors have always been awesome.
people were cool and it was a good premise of the place, but as a guitar player i was not taught anything valuable and im not sure if it was my instructor or not but it was honestly just a waste of both time and money.
The class is only 30 minutes long, and the kids are on time but they can’t get to class right away and they always wait outside, but the class is over on time!
The problem isn’t that 30 minutes of study isn’t enough, it’s that the class should be 30 minutes long
