We are very happy with our daughter’s Guitar Lessons. She is a teen just starting to play guitar, who was a little nervous at the beginning. Her confidence grows with every lesson. Her instructor is knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic. She really enjoys her time at the School of Rock, and is reaping the benefits. We both strongly recommend the School of Rock – Elmhurst.
Our son loves SOR! He’s always been interested in music and looks forward to going each week. We love that they introduce the students to various instruments, giving them an opportunity to explore. All the coaches and employees are kind and supportive of all the kids at enter. You can tell it’s a safe space for all these kids to learn, grow and play music. We’re so happy that School of Rock is a part of our son’s routine!
10/10 would recomend bery cool indeed
LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. My daughter won’t stop talking about it. Great space, everyone is friendly and I love the vibe.
Wish a few teachers had a little more training in controlling kids. Some kids like to take control of the class and a couple teachers are too gentle in calling them. It effects class time for others.
Very unprofessional.

Ever since my son started School of Rock Naperville two years ago I’ve seen his musical ability, and more importantly his confidence, skyrocket. The instructors are talented, caring, and dedicated; the management team is professional, fun, and flexible. They put together fantastic opportunities for kids to showcase their talent and what they’ve learned. The entire SoR Naperville team goes out of their way to make this a safe, fun environment for kids to learn music and how to work as a group. I wish there had been a place like this when I was a kid!
My 14-year-old has taken both private lessons and performance group classes for the past two years. Recently, he told me that School of Rock is “the best thing I’ve ever done.” Through the performance classes, the talented staff is able to bring together kids from different or absolutely NO musical background and form them into a cohesive group–it’s absolutely AMAZING to see where they end up at the end of the session. In addition to developing musical skills and knowledge, the kids who participate in School of Rock improve their confidence and sense of self, as well as form strong bonds with the other kids. There’s such good will and a positive vibe at the Naperville School of Rock! My family and I have been thrilled with our experience!
My girls love music; however, they did not enjoy the traditional methods of learning music. They would start music lessons and they did not connect with the music that was assigned to them for practice. Over time they would stop practicing and eventually quit. To be honest, as a parent, I don’t blame them! The traditional music recital is excruciatingly boring! I then enrolled the girls at School Of Rock Naperville! Within 4 mos., they had their first performance. I knew they were playing more “popular songs “but I didn’t expect much of a performance. I mean–It’s only been 4 months! The performances are usually set as mini-concerts in a public settings such as a restaurant/bar and they are open to the public. Well this was a change, nothing like the stuffy recitals we had attended in the past. Then it dawned on me–my child who has only been singing for 4 months will be performing in front of all these people! I was so scared for her I did want her to have horrible experience on stage; however when she hit the stage she showed no fear. We had been blown away by the how much they learned inside of 4 months. The instructors at SOR are the best–they aren’t just music teachers, they are musicians with their own bands and their own experiences that they readily share with our kids. Fast forward 3 yrs. later –vocal lessons, guitar lessons, drum lessons, open mic nights, countless concerts w/ performances at famous places such as the Empty Bottle, and Lincoln Hall, and many opportunities to meet famous musicians! School of Rock is not just a music school -its a family and second home to my daughters.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Great place to learn music, your instrument of choice and the band bonding experience.
You will appreciate the music you love more than you ever expected.
The staff are friendly and professional. The keyboard teacher for private lessons is patient and has experience with working with younger children.
The teacher Elisabeth, was great im in my early 40’s and had been trying to learn to play guitar on and off for years since i was a teenager. She got me to focus and actually be able to play chords and then eventually, barre chords, fingerstyle and then songs.
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.

This place is great! My son is excited to go to his keyboard lessons every week, has an amazing teacher, and loves his Rock 101 band practices! 10 out of 10!
Very talented staff and professional experience
My 8 year old son is having a great time learning to play the drums and playing in the Rookies band. Everyone at School of Rock is warm, positive and tremendously helpful. We really love the program.

We loved the collaborative philosophy, but were especially impressed by Ryan’s dedication to keep the kids safe, happy, and rockin’. Thanks for a fun week
So cute! I love the movie and the musical was very similar but not exactly the same, which I like. The kids play their own instruments and it made me smile through the entire play. A few emotional moments and lots of laughs. Be ready to sit in a theater with a bunch of school kids, once the play started they were well behaved so it was fine. Recommend!!!
I live in las vegas. But have recently been viewing videos from chicagos school of rock.and have turned some friends n family on to . and we are huge avid watchers of it all. And simply love everything about the whole concept and general overall of the whole thing and nothing but the thing. School of Rock friggin rocks man.

My son Ryan really enjoys the group performance aspect of School of Rock. I would definitely recommend it!
My son loves being in the Rock 101 band and his private lesson teacher for the keyboard. School of Rock does a great job of keeping the kids interested in learning music and being in a band keeps him motivated to practice the songs without me nagging! This is our third season with School of Rock and so far it’s been great.
School of Rock Arlington Hights is just awesome! They have great instructors who make the lessons fun while teaching kids their craft. Everyone at SOR Arlington Heights is very professional, helpful and there is a real, fun Family atmosphere. Best decision we made was to sign up our kids there! Rock On!
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

We love everything about this place. Both our boys are students. And we love our School of Rock Chicago West community.
They get the kids playing real songs at real shows in real venues very quickly, which is a great way to learn music and build confidence.
Private lessons help build technique, and ensemble classes teach cooperation, responsibility, and showmanship. And it’s all done in a fun, mutually supportive atmosphere.
The staff are very kind, accommodating, and welcoming. And it’s just so much fun to see young musicians grow in ability and confidence.
Send your aspiring musician here!
Staff is great and really know how to keep kids excited about learning and playing music.

Ever since our son joined The School of Rock, his enthusiasms for playing his guitar has gone through the roof. He practices on his own and comes home from each lesson having learned something new and completely inspired. His instructor, Scott, is the perfect teacher for him and I think their ability to pair the students with the right instructor is key to their success. To top it off, our son loves being in the performance group and is gaining a lot from performing and being part of a band. Wish we had made the move to School of Rock sooner. Big thumbs up!
I have been a student here for years and I have nothing but great things to say. It’s an Amazing place with AMAZING people! It’s the perfect place to learn music in a positive environment. Great for beginner musicians as well as experienced, as there is a lot to learn from the instructors there about music and what it’s like to be in a real band. Can’t get this kind of musical experience and knowledge anywhere else!
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.

Our son has been taking drum lessons at SOR for the past two years. The instructors are great and they create a productive and fun learning environment for the kids. Highly recommend them.
We love everything about School of Rock! The teachers are fantastic and invested in their students’ growth in all areas of music and performance.
My son is 13, is pretty introverted. He is mostly into gaming, accept when it comes to going to his lessons and rehearsals at The School of Rock. He sincerely LOVES this place and it has brought out so much personality in him. Music, being a part of a band, the teachers, is helping him come out of his shell- and express himself. I can’t wait to continue this journey and watch him have a great time in this positive environment.

My daughter has been a student at School of Rock Evanston for going on 2 years and LOVES the time she gets to spend there. The school is filled with teachers, young and oldish, all passing along their love of making music to a younger generation. The community is very welcoming and my daughter feels valued and supported by everyone in it. I HIGHLY recommend giving your kids this kind of experience, mine has benefitted immensely from her time here!
My son, Liam, has been at SOR Evanston for many years (drums, guitar and bass) and has greatly developed his musical and stage presence skills. The performance series shows are particularly entertaining! Since Liam is graduating HS in May, it will be sad to leave SOR but we’re all so grateful for the positive experience and friendships made along the way. Well done SOR Evanston!
School of Rock has drastically changed my outlook on music and team work. You realize just how much fun it is playing in a group or in front of an audience, and not just in your bedroom. I’m so glad I signed up for vocal lessons, and so glad I got the teacher I did. Everyone here is extremely friendly, and it really feels like a family. I would recommend School of Rock to any musician, aspiring or even professional, purely for the fact that this place makes my day and makes me a better musician.
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

My son has participated in 3 Performance Programs and taken drum lessons for the past year at School of Rock, Geneva. He loves the experience and has learned so much about what it takes to put on a performance and be part of a group.
He had taken piano lessons for years and played in the middle school band, but this experience is what he’s been looking for. All the performance directors and his drum instructor Brad have been awesome.
Great director who built not only my son’s music knowledge/ability but also his confidence.
My daughter loves coming for voice lessons with Bailey and her confidence as a singer has grown immensely! Bailey has taught her so much already and participating in an actual performance has been such a rewarding experience. I always have appreciated the communication and friendliness of everyone at School of Rock, it is obvious they love what they do. Thank you Bailey, Angela & Joey!
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.
