Brought my grandson here after we were offered a free class at the Summer Celebration in Streamwood. Place is clean, instructors are patient and great with kids. Highly recommended for kids that dig music.
Instructors and staff are excellent. Good environment

We are very happy with our daughter’s Guitar Lessons. She is a teen just starting to play guitar, who was a little nervous at the beginning. Her confidence grows with every lesson. Her instructor is knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic. She really enjoys her time at the School of Rock, and is reaping the benefits. We both strongly recommend the School of Rock – Elmhurst.
My daughter has been at Elmhurst School of Rock for 3 years. She is 11 1/2 years old and has grown and matured in her skills, thus providing her with an immense amount of confidence. The teachers are amazing and very talented. We are there 3 days a week for vocals, guitar and song writing. Every week, they continue to engage her with exciting material and lessons. The group performance program has taught her to practice, somewhat like a sport, not just for her, but for her bandmates. My girl is a rocker and there is no other place she wants to be!
My daughter has been playing at the school of rock for several years. They have an amazing and positive environment, and the shows rock.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. My daughter won’t stop talking about it. Great space, everyone is friendly and I love the vibe.
Wish a few teachers had a little more training in controlling kids. Some kids like to take control of the class and a couple teachers are too gentle in calling them. It effects class time for others.
Very unprofessional.

My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.

My boys had the BEST week at camp at school of rock. They had so much fun with the teachers and loved rocking out!
My daughter took summer camp here and absolutely loved it! She is very inspired and wants to do more! She looks forward to coming every day.
This place is literally amazing, I would never have dreamed that I would playing guitar after only 4 months of lessons, I would perform in one of the coolest clubs in Chicago singing some of my favorite Beatles songs. This School of Rock specifically has given me opportunities I never could have dreamed of getting, such as playing at renowned clubs and venues around Chicago. When I started in March of 2013, I was a total R&B/soul genre type of musician and was solely a vocalist. Now, I love a wide variety of indie, classic rock, modern rock bands, grunge, punk, and even some prog rock. I first picked up a guitar in June, started lessons in August, and can play incredible songs like Band on the Run (Wings) and Knights of Cydonia (Muse). What’s even better about this rock school is the environment we are put into-all the students quickly bond and we all learn from each other. It is an INCREDIBLE program and I cannot thank SoR Hinsdale and Patrick McKenna (general manager and director of House Band) enough for all the professional experience and new opportunities I’ve encountered while here. I learn from the students, the school, the teachers, and the music more everyday.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

LOVE School of Rock! My daughter has had such a wonderful experience her, both 1 on 1 lessons and the Rock 101 groups. SOR has taken her playing to the next level. Highly recommend.
My 8 year old son is having a great time learning to play the drums and playing in the Rookies band. Everyone at School of Rock is warm, positive and tremendously helpful. We really love the program.
The administration and instructors are really working hard to continue lessons and rehearsals through zoom. I appreciate my daughter continuing her lessons and maintaining that connection with her band.

One of my sons drums with Mac and the other plays guitar with Zach; they both absolutely love School of Rock. Personally, I like the low-key vibe and how the other students act like it is a clubhouse. Everyone is very friendly and supportive.
ROCK and ROLL
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

My daughter loved it there and can see her talk about Music already. My passion to learn music, wasn’t a reach then, trying for my baby and she is loving it. The teachers and school are more responsible for her interest. Much Appreciated.
We like the way the kids start playing real music right away, it makes learning an instrument fun. All the teachers we have met are very nice, they are good with the kids, and they understand how to make it fun and engaging. My kids absolutely love going, it is a highlight of their week.
I can count on one hand the number of reviews I have written but I am so happy with School of Rock in Naperville I had to write a review.
My son has been playing guitar since he was 5 years old but had reached a point that he was loosing interest in the guitar, because he was playing alone. We visited School of Rock in Naperville during the open house this past spring and my son wanted to start that night. He was nervous, his first night but the staff and students made him feel at home and welcome. He played his first show this past summer and is preparing for his second show next month.
The School of Rock in Naperville has done more than put my son in an environment where he can play guitar with other young adults in a show. It has changed how my son thinks about music. He is now taking bass lessons and he is learning music theory. My son is practicing all of the time and excited about playing again, because of the School of Rock in Naperville he had the confidence to try out for the Middle School Jazz Band on guitar and was accepted. He is still in Grade School.
School of Rock in Naperville has found a way to teach life lessons through music. Values like working hard for something you want, helping others and working in a group. They do this with something that is both fun and positive music.
The instructors are great and encouraging during both lessons and rehearsals and they make it fun. The staff has always been professional and accommodating.
Sadly, I can only give School of Rock in Naperville 5 Stars.
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.

Our son has had a really great time learning music here. The staff is wonderful and we are pleased we signed him up here!
Absolutely love all of the teachers/instructors. The classes are so engaging.
My son loves being in the Rock 101 band and his private lesson teacher for the keyboard. School of Rock does a great job of keeping the kids interested in learning music and being in a band keeps him motivated to practice the songs without me nagging! This is our third season with School of Rock and so far it’s been great.
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

School of Rock’s philosophy of teaching is through songs. It has proven to be a greta way to teach me how to play the electric guitar. I recommend The School of Rock to anyway wanting to learn how to play any instrument!
My son is 13, is pretty introverted. He is mostly into gaming, accept when it comes to going to his lessons and rehearsals at The School of Rock. He sincerely LOVES this place and it has brought out so much personality in him. Music, being a part of a band, the teachers, is helping him come out of his shell- and express himself. I can’t wait to continue this journey and watch him have a great time in this positive environment.
Our son has been taking drum lessons at SOR for the past two years. The instructors are great and they create a productive and fun learning environment for the kids. Highly recommend them.

Merit School has been amazing in providing services in person and through Zoom. Ms. Sally has been so phenomenal and supportive of us and our school.
I’ve gone to merit since I was really young. Me and my family LOVE merit. Everyone is so nice and it creates a welcoming I environment. Everyone wants to build each other up and the kids are so nice. Merit has summer and fall programs.
Is a great school my kids have been going there for years! Just love this place! The stuff and teachers are wonderful!
My family loves Merit Music. My daughter studied with Ms. Elena for 12 years. Her instruction was caring and deeply informed; Ms.Elena is an inspiring artists. My nephew and neighbors have enthusiastically attended various classes over the years. I highly recommend Merit.
Best place to learn music
I dont understand the work and its a fast pace like only one subject per lesson how am i going to remember that. It’s uncontrollably boring and i hate staying to the house all day long just sitting there doing work and waiting to the next classconnect. 🙁
I bought tickets to a comedy show that was to be held at this institution. I then found out the show was cancelled by this institution as a form of censorship. I thought free expression was a staple of art and question the ethics of Merit and any other school simultaneously promoting art and censorship
Canceled venue for no reason, cost me alot of money…Very Unprofessional!!!

I love School of Rock and I love this location! It’s awesome that they offer the Little Wing program! My 4 year old absolutely loves it! She loves her teacher, Tina! All of the members of the staff are so great! I’ve been bringing my daughter here for about a year now and everyone is so kind. Eric does a great job creating an awesome environment for the kids and he always makes everyone feel very welcome! I Love School of Rock and recommend it every chance I get! 🙂
School of Rock Glen Ellyn is a wonderful music school. The instructors are fantastic musicians and teachers. My son has made tons of progress in the year he has been enrolled there. He has started playing two new instruments, and has greatly improved his guitar technique. The performance opportunities are incredible, and my son has developed a lot more confidence on stage. The environment is warm and welcoming, and the students are really nice kids. A great thing about this school is the interaction among the students – they teach and encourage each other and learn to play together as a band. My son feels a real sense of comradery with his fellow students. I recommend School of Rock Glen Ellyn without reservation. It is an amazing place!
Absolutely love school of Rock. We tried guitar lessons from other music stores and my son just didn’t stick with it. He loves school of rock. They have a completely different approach. Highly recommend!
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.

We love School of Rock, Plainfield. The teachers are very talented and dedicated and meet the kids where they are at while pushing them to achieve their best. The shows are so much fun to participate in and the growth kids achieve through these shows is amazing.
I joined the Plainfield, Illinois School of Rock at age 55 and I love it ! My keyboard teacher Eric has matched my learning style and in a few lessons I went from beginner to playing with both hands. I’m also taking vocal lessons and Ruth is teaching me how to sing and what songs are right for my voice. I joined the adult band and Colin the band director, has been very patient with me and taught me a song the first night. Colin, Nick and all the staff are amazing. I’m having a lot of fun and I’ve only just begun !
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff members, our daughter enjoys going to class.
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.
