My 13 year old daughter loves it here! She is guitarist and has been playing/taking lessons for 9 years.
When the studio opened, we thought it’d be a great place for her to grow her knowledge of music. She did a songwriting summer camp and really loved it. Since then, her interest in music has expanded exponentially. She takes guitar and drum lessons here, and also takes performance band (which is seriously the coolest concept ever).
I attribute her passion to the warm, welcoming, and safe environment the owners and teachers have cultivated here. The teachers provide nearly instant feedback when a lesson is finished. The end of the term performances are so fun – it is so amazing to watch the kids learn how to perform fun songs for an audience!
If your kiddo is interested in music, this is the place to be!
Love this place from the owners to the instructors
This place is truly special in terms of learning music in a non traditional way! The owners, Jon and Sarah, really go all out for both their staff and students! I’ve seen kids run to their parents in excitement when wanting to sign up while learning high levels of music theory and note reading. It’s really amazing!

Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

Our daughter was in the Little Wings class and is now in the Rookies class and she loves it here! It amazes me, the things she comes home knowing about rhythm, instruments, and even classic rock artists. We also just held her 6th birthday party there, and WOW, it was incredible. The instructors were very organized (more than my husband and I), and the activities were a hit. They learned a Moana (the bday girls’ party theme) song on Ukeleles, decorated guitars, and played bingo. The best part was that we (the parents) were able to sit back and let the kids enjoy the party rather than stressing out. The communication has been excellent as well for both the classes as well as the party. I can’t say enough great things.
Such an amazing, professional, accepting, & FUN environment for students.
Everyone here is so welcoming here! I was able to sign up for a trial lesson with the general manager Josh. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by Samantha who gave us a tour of the newly renovated facility. Our lesson was with Scott and he left a lastly impression on my child. I would definitely recommend checking them out.

I been going here for almost 2 months and it just feels so familiar and new and exciting every visit. I have improved in my vocals so much thanks to my teacher Sherry! she’s so enthusiastic, kind, passionate, and educated on her crafts. I am someone with HUGE anxiety but I am telling you coming here you will not feel that sense. I’ve already improved so much it’s honestly scary. Sad that it’s once a week and 30 minute sessions but that’s totally acceptable and appropriate but it’s honestly so dope you’d wanna be here 24/7 cause you learn and have fun at the same time. Covid-19 protocols are in place and safe staff are vaccinated and wear masks. While singing with Sherry we both maintain distance as much as possible and wear clear face shields they have plenty provided as well due to being able to see vocal technique and to hear clearly) so that is not a worry. Not to mention it is a clean space and is affordable for families. I love it here
DSRP is the musical ‘glue’ of Royal Oak! Both my kids have been taking lessons for years with Julie and Steve and both are awesome. They have a knack for sneaky teaching, making the kids better while they don’t even know it! When my son came home and asked to listen to and play Rolling Stones tunes, I knew we were at the right palace. Thanks DSRP for all the cool stuff you do!
If you’re thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.
Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you’re looking to get into music.
Great local music school that has private (Suzuki) lessons for violin, piano, winds, etc
Always great performances.
The new Community Music School building is well organized, and the design of the place is colorful and welcoming. It provides good music lessons and a place to practice on percussion instruments. The percussion studio is also much improved.
Pretty limited parking here, but the Ten Pound Fiddle puts on great concerts here.
It is horibl
Small space, good show

I did a lot of reasearch and read numerous online reviews before making a commitment to any music school. The Canton Music Academy continued to catch my interest. So I made the call and I can say without hesitation it was the best decision I could’ve made. From day one my experience with the staff was awesome. They’re all so friendly and professional and easy to communicate with. I don’t have much experience with playing drums but I have a strong desire to learn. My drum instructor showed great understanding as to my music goals and prepared a lesson plan to allow me to progress in a way that was easy for me to learn. I’m so happy I chose the Canton Music Academy.
From the day I considered enrolling my kids, to 4 years later, the Grosse Pointe Music Academy has always been flexible and willing to accomodate my needs as a parent of 4 children at different levels of training, and to best work my busy life. Caitlyn is a superstar, who runs the office and my kids absolutely adore. She always has something to keep them busy while the others are taking their instructional course. And the instructors are loved by my kids. Not only the instructors excellent at their instrument, but they are great with kids. I think my kids actually enjoy spending time with the people there, as much as the piano lessons. And listening to my kids play piano at home is so calming and peaceful. Money well spent.
Grosse Pointe Music Academy in Canton is great for music lessons. Our 10 year old daughter has been going there for a couple years. She is learning to play guitar and loves it. Her instructor, Jon, is excellent and brings enthusiasm when he teaches. We also enjoy working with Katelynn the office manager. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend Grosse Pointe Music Academy for music lessons of any kind.
It was nice the guitar teacher was knowledgeable and kind. Check it out if kids want music lessions
The secretary it’s not friendly at all.
The J-RO School of Music
Address: 4084 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085 , Uzdzyenski Rayon , Michigan , United States
My son Loves his voice and guitar lessons with J-RO! He gets plenty of individual attention in the group sessions and comes out with the biggest smile on his face. I would highly recommend J-RO for anyone wanting to learn or improve their musical skills!
Love, love, love Josh and company! My daughter has been a student with Josh for 3 years. He’s amazing! Highly recommend him!
Very friendly staff, inviting atmosphere and clean facility. Best of all J-Ro literally rocks! Two of my kids signed up here and are loving it. Lots of communication about kids progress, updates and cool reads about music.
Classes are good but sometimes you can’t hear yourself even with the headphones as some instrumentalist will be playing acoustic instruments
We’ve been attending for several months now, underwhelmed by our child’s progress. Appears to be partially attributable to poor management
Dixboro Music Academy
Address: 5155 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 , Uzdzyenski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Good experience at Dixboro music. Super convenient to schedule different options for music lessons for my daughter. Easy to reschedule. Owner is very accommodating, friendly, and organized.
I’m so very happy Dixboro music academy is now open! Great teachers and professional staff. I couldn’t be happier
My children and I had with a wonderful experience at Dixboro Music Academy!
Our teachers, David, Silver, Charlie and Tyler were highly knowledgeable and incredibly inspiring. Their passion for music shone through in every session, created an environment where learning was a joyous experience. Their dedication to their craft and their ability to convey complex concepts in a simple and enjoyable manner truly defines their exceptional teaching skills. Their guidance and expertise not only helped us improve our technical skills but also deepened our appreciation for various musical styles and genres and of course, our love for music. We were encouraged to explore our creativity while fostering a sense of confidence and personal growth within us. We have so much appreciation for the whole team for their outstanding commitment to providing top-notch education and music instruction. Our time with Dixboro has been invaluable, and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend their services to anyone seeking a positive and enriching musical experience.
GROSSE POINTE MUSIC ACADEMY
Address: 19443 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236 , Uzdzyenski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Our oldest son loves going to Summer Music Camp. He has a great time and learn many new things about his guitar and music. He is looking forward to this years camp.
I absolutely love teaching here. A great environment for both kids and adults. Our desk girl/secretary Kala is absolutely awesome. Our owner Henry is a very kind and good man. I am proud to teach here and highly recommend all of our staff to work with you or your kids. The efficiency with which both Henry and Kala manage to run this place is unprecedented.
We are long time customers an could not imagine going anywhere else. Professional, friendly and just an all around excellent environment for music education.
My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
I attempted to take singing lessons here. Unfortunately, on the day my lesson was scheduled, there was a power outage, so it was postpones. Now obviously this was out of their control, but they told me that they would call to reschedule and never did. We attempted to contact them numerous times about it, and they never got back to us.
The lessons could be the best in the city, but if they’re this difficult to work with…
Oz’s Music
Address: 1920 Packard St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 , Uzdzyenski Rayon , Michigan , United States
The gentleman sold me an awesome Ibanez guitar, a blackstar amp and all the essentials for cheaper than guitar center plus friendlier service.
Very friendly service. Had a great experience purchasing a Godin hollow body
Very cool place and even cooler staff. We brought the kids there for an event where they got to play many different instruments. The instructor was excellent working with them and has a ton of knowledge about education and music.
A nice little music shop on Packard across from Frasers pub Ann Arbor. Price tags may seem to be much higher compared to Amazon but some of the instruments are exclusive. They run some classes too. Parking is limited and tricky access. It’s much easier to park on the side roads or across.
Knowledgeable staff. Lots of unique and unusual instruments.
Had my guitar fixed there, and while most music shops I go too replace your strings free of charge after a repair, I had to buy a new set on top of the repair cost. Overall a good experience though.
I called a few weeks ago asking about oboe lessons for my son and was told someone would give me call back with information. That never happened. I call today to inquire about renting an oboe and getting lessons and Chris tells me there are none available (instruments or teachers) which is fine, but I then ask “could you possibly point me in the right direction for where else I could look” and I get a flat “No.” I feel like this customer service experience was extremely subpar and most of that was to do with how the conversation was handled and the obviously dismissive tone I received from this person. I grew up within walking distance to Oz’s and always thought highly of them. Very disappointing. I miss Carty’s.
6 pm is awfully early to close.
I sent my guitar here to be repaired and setup. When I got it back it was nigh unplayable. I had to take it somewhere else to get it fixed up, which was cheaper than the initial flawed setup to boot.
It seems like other people have had good experiences which is why I chose here initially. I won’t do so again.
Interlochen Scholarshop
Address: 4000 M-137, Interlochen, MI 49643 , Uzdzyenski Rayon , Michigan , United States
The Scholarshop at Interlochen is great, whether you’re looking for that last item your student forgot to tell you they needed for the school year or wanting to pick up a window sticker and tee shirt to let everyone know you’re spending almost the GNP of the Faroe Islands for your students’ high school education!
They have lots of everyday items that your student will need and often run out of before letting you know or remembering to pick up for themselves, when in town, which is why the Scholarshop stocks them. There is also a section for food that the students like to indulge in, a decent section of school books, a tech section to grab a new cable from and a small area for students to hang out in.
The Scholarshop is also where you will be able to access the Interlochen Box Office and Melody Freeze during the Winter months, which is much saner than standing outside during a blizzard trying to purchase an ice cream cone or tickets for the upcoming show…
All in all, the Scholarshop is a perfect blend of necessity, convenience and indulgence all stuffed into a cozy space on campus and ready for students and parents to grab whatever it is they find a need for. Stop in the next time you’re on campus and I bet you walk out with something.
If you’ve never been to Interlochen or know itd history and what it represents….you have my pity!
Amazing campus for creatives.
Beautiful campus with woods, lake and state park. Caring, kind staff. Cabins, dorms, amphitheatres, multiple auditoriums. Convenient parking including handicap.
Awesome real nice people
Excellent place.

Thanks for every thing Michigan University I love you
Go Green!
This is where you find the best doctors in n mid-michigan. MSU internal medicine have been awesome. Very accommodating for my fiance who is not very ambulatory and can now just barely raise her own head. Where other docs have failed, they prevail. Thank you MSU.
Got to give this 3 stars to average out all my 4 and 5 star reviews. Thought I would post some good pics for yall. As you can see, the key to a good photo is to get them at the peak of anxiety. Nothing else breathes life into a photo like true fear. Don’t worry though, no kids were “harmed” while taking these. Oh, and that other photo? Yep.
Visited the Small Animal Clinic. Great doctors and students, but not inexpensive.
Don’t know why they don’t have programs this year.
Still a good place to watch basketball

Frame ups, false charges, false accusations. false testimony, Kangaroo Courts , and all from the liberal, and pampered elite. Oh , I almost fogot you will not get a job no matter how well qualified you are ! Rats and weasels only please !
Disgusting, shameful excuse for a school. Sad when you realize that at the end of the day, a school is a business and will put their interest first. Well this business is a toxic rotting hell pit that ALLOWED hundreds of young girls to be sexually assaulted by a member of their staff. I hope an earthquake hits and swallows this blight on this country whole.
