Phenomenal staff and amazing studio. We would strongly recommend School of Rock Schaumburg!
School of Rock is AMAZING! Brandy and Mandy are wonderful and strive to promote a great learning experience while having fun. My son is excited about every drum lesson with Aaron and Saturday group lessons with Dave are a blast! We have had only positive experiences with the entire staff! Rock on and thank you all for helping grow my son’s love for music!
Brought my grandson here after we were offered a free class at the Summer Celebration in Streamwood. Place is clean, instructors are patient and great with kids. Highly recommended for kids that dig music.
Instructors and staff are excellent. Good environment

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Great place to learn how to really enjoy and play great music.
We love everything about this place. Both our boys are students. And we love our School of Rock Chicago West community.
They get the kids playing real songs at real shows in real venues very quickly, which is a great way to learn music and build confidence.
Private lessons help build technique, and ensemble classes teach cooperation, responsibility, and showmanship. And it’s all done in a fun, mutually supportive atmosphere.
The staff are very kind, accommodating, and welcoming. And it’s just so much fun to see young musicians grow in ability and confidence.
Send your aspiring musician here!

I love how the teachers make music fun for the kids. My kids have been in traditional music programs but it never “clicked” with them. School of Rock puts the fun back in music lessons and makes it practical for kids to relate to. My kids cannot put their instruments down and always appreciate an opportunity to show off.
My experiences here are excellent. The staff is fantastic so even if my instructor is out I always have a great lesson anyways. And the adult band program that is tied to the lessons is phenomenal and without it I probably wouldn’t have been able to actually progress in my playing by actually playing with other people and preparing for and playing shows. It adds an element that traditional private and group lessons just can’t match.
I have been at the Chicago School of Rock for 6 years now, and the amount of confidence, growth in my musicianship and stage presence I have gotten from this program is amazing. The teachers are great, and shows enable you to have fun WHILE learning a ton! I’d recommend School of Rock to anyone!

My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
My kids loved the camp. They learned a ton in a week. Definitely a great find in Downers.

My son loves his instructor. Recently, he joined a performance group and is enjoying it immensely! He has met some new friends and is excited for the upcoming performance!!!
We have had our son in the Arlington Heights School of Rock for a couple years and it is amazing how quickly his guitar skills have progressed! He takes lessons and also participates in the shows. The show preparation is rigorous but it has really accelerated his skills – it is amazing how the prospect of performing for a live audience compels you to practice! You also don’t want to let your bandmates down. In addition to the musical training, the kids are forced to work together for the performances and get along with each other. I think this side benefit has been almost as important as the musical training. It’s a great program, I highly recommend it. Jim, the owner, is also a great guy!
We are having great experience with School of Rock in Arlington Heights. There are so many different programs. The teachers are professionals and very nice. My daughter loves her vocal classes, and she is ready to start guitar lessons.
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

School of Rock has been a great experience for my daughter. She has learned to play great music and perform on stage with a band. Best of all, she has made new friends and has had a lot of fun. The performances are always fantastic and enjoyable for friends and family. I cannot recommend School of Rock Naperville highly enough!
Great teachers & a great experience for my son
First off I would like to say how much my kid enjoys the Naperville school and all of it’s staff. We took the summer off because of traveling but fully intend to start back up here in the fall.
Secondly, I’m pretty sure based on their dramatic exit (and being the only ones that did) I think I know who wrote the negative review. If it was her, she was making not so subtle advances to her daughters bass instructor and was mad when he remained professional and didnt respond to her advances. Seems like she might still be mad about that.
Please pay no attention to her review. She’s not a kind person
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.

A good place for kids to get jiggy with the tunes!
This place is pretty great
The instructors are knowledgeable about many different genres, theories, and patterns in music. They tailor each lesson to the student’s interests and preferences; explaining various musical aspects in ways that students of any age are able to understand. They encourage students to keep striving toward goals and greater potential. The atmosphere seriously feels like that of a big family every time I walk in there.
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.

School of Rock isn’t just a music school. It is a family. There are programs for all ages and the parents get to see their kids grow and improve together. I was encouraged by my daughter to join the adult program. Then after she graduated from the youth program she joined my adult band. It was amazing singing with my daughter and watching the kids she performed with grow and improve. There was a girl who was shy and scared in her first show with my daughter. Early this season she sang the national anthem for the Chicago Bulls. That is the confidence School of Rock brings to our kids. My son just joined and I can’t wait to see him in his first rock concert.
My son learned so much in just one week of camp 101. He had a lot of fun! Everyone was welcoming. I liked that all the kids were included in the band as much as possible. Such a great experience for kids who are new to musical instruments.
My kids have tried all the different sports but it didn’t click. We were getting nervous about which activities they could cling onto and make thier own….then School of Rock in Plainfield came along.
At first, my kids were leery…then after several lessons and group sessions, they “wanted” to go. I am floored at how this school has excelled my kids in their playing, how they perform in a group, and their passion for music. I hear my kids playing in the house together (one plays drums, the other piano), talking about music all the time, playing on their own, etc… it’s just been a wonderful developmental process that the School of Rock team has put together in Plainfield.
It both challenges them and then provides tangible rewards they can feel and build confidence with. Especially, when they get to play on stage at the end of each 3 month session – that is the true pay off for all of them!
I highly recommend this school and the teaching team. I know people have even followed them from other schools. My kids are so excited to go each week, they have created both friendships with the kids and bonds with the teachers.
I am sincere and grateful in saying…..thank you Jason and team for bringing School of Rock to my family. I wish I had this opportunity as a young kid myself.
I am very disappointed with the work of the School of Rock Plainfield, in the 9 days that have passed since the agreement on a trial lesson for my six-year-old daughter, none of the managers of the School of Rock Plainfield checked and noticed that the lesson time was not set correctly, and when we arrived, they simply offered to come to the next week. My child was very upset because all this time, she was looking forward to this lesson, and I had to think carefully and reschedule her other classes for the time of the scheduled lesson. I was upset that the manager did not even consider it necessary to approach us. She spoke to me, standing at the opposite end of the hall. I don’t know how they teach music, but the management is very unprofessional.

Everything has been great, from getting kids playing songs right away, to switching up instruments, and the communication all throughout, I highly recommend School of Rock!
We LOVE School of Rock Highwood. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make sure my kids have the best experience each week. They have grown so much over the past few years and we love hearing them play with their bands. We love that they have the opportunity to learn their own instrument with amazing teachers and also work with a group each week during band practice. Highly recommend School of Rock Highwood for kids all all ages!

The staff and the shows are great! The kids make friends and learn to get on stage and they build confidence!
School of Rock’s philosophy of teaching is through songs. It has proven to be a greta way to teach me how to play the electric guitar. I recommend The School of Rock to anyway wanting to learn how to play any instrument!
We have had a wonderful experience at School of Rock! Our children have grown as musicians and performers. The staff is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

My daughter has been a student at School of Rock Evanston for going on 2 years and LOVES the time she gets to spend there. The school is filled with teachers, young and oldish, all passing along their love of making music to a younger generation. The community is very welcoming and my daughter feels valued and supported by everyone in it. I HIGHLY recommend giving your kids this kind of experience, mine has benefitted immensely from her time here!
My son, Liam, has been at SOR Evanston for many years (drums, guitar and bass) and has greatly developed his musical and stage presence skills. The performance series shows are particularly entertaining! Since Liam is graduating HS in May, it will be sad to leave SOR but we’re all so grateful for the positive experience and friendships made along the way. Well done SOR Evanston!
ROCK and ROLL
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

Great experience. I learned a lot in a short period of time. I felt like the instructors knew which path to take with me and were good listeners. The staff was flexible and prompt to respond to my emails.
Great addition to the neighborhood. Personable, professional staff that is great with kids and young adults.
My son has really enjoyed his Little Wing class! The kind and caring teachers have been great role models and we hope to continue for years to come!
My child enjoyed their lessons, but this business practices incredibly deceptive billing, re-scheduling, and cancellation policies.

My daughter loves coming for voice lessons with Bailey and her confidence as a singer has grown immensely! Bailey has taught her so much already and participating in an actual performance has been such a rewarding experience. I always have appreciated the communication and friendliness of everyone at School of Rock, it is obvious they love what they do. Thank you Bailey, Angela & Joey!
Nothing but a positive experience my son has had over the last 4 years at the School Of Rock Geneva, and we are looking forward to a few more
Only place to go! This place will teach your kid to learn music. No gimmicks!
Inept management and an absentee owner that couldn’t care less about the well being of the students. There inability to effectively communicate and problem solve made it a nightmare to work there. The students are fantastic and the staff is good too. Poor management that needs to be replaced. I would highly suggest looking into private lessons elsewhere.
Not what you need if you want to have your child to learn the fundamentals of music, learn how to become a better musician, improve on their instrument. No this is not that place. if your child wants to just “jam out” and play whatever along with other students of (somewhat) similar musical level then you’ll find that here.
OVERPRICED & lacking for an inadequate musical education. Staff is inappropriate to teach children. My kid got hurt there due to the sloppiness. Owner & staff didn’t seem to care or take his injuries seriously. They just want you to pay, but don’t know what they’re doing in terms of tending to kids needs or teaching the fundamentals of music. I won’t be trusting my kids alone with them in the future.
