Our 8 and 12 y/o had a wonderful time at the San Jose location, and came home inspired and energized each night. The crew there clearly care about the kids and about running a fun music camp. My kids raved about the activities (their dye shirts were awesome!) and it was a blast watching them perform songs at the end of the week! We will definitely go back next summer.
I really like the format and the feel of real recording studios/practice studios. Johnathan is a great site manager and makes sure the customers are well taken care of. Most of the teachers my daughter has had have been really fabulous (except for one). The lessons are a little more expensive than some other places, but the “rock band” experience is really clever and well-executed.
My son has been at SOR for the last 5 years and can now confidently play 3 instruments and is a musician for life. The staff is so welcoming and positive, they help the students reach for goals and they are a lot of fun to learn from. This school has played a major role in our lives and in my son’s happiness and self esteem.

My kids (and I) have been students of the School of Rock, West LA for the past 3+ years. After watching the school establish itself and grow over the years, I can genuinely recommend the school. The premise is simple — teach people how to play by enticing them with music they actually want to hear and play.
Since the time the school has opened, there have been some significant changes and improvements. The school was purchased about a year and a half ago, and is under different ownership than it was during its early days. The new owners have been very careful with the school, evaluating what works and changing the things that could be improved. They have invested, and continue to invest, in the facility — this summer adding a shaded deck outside, They have made additional investments in the interior, the furnishings, the equipment and the faculty and staff. Billing, scheduling and accounting functions have all been improved, computerized and streamlined and are easy to access and understand.
The reason why anyone comes to a music school, though, is to learn how to play his or her instrument of choice, but the reason people stay is the quality of the instructors, the sustainability of the program and the community of other students and parents that supports continued effort. It is in these areas where the school really shines. The school’s music director, Ryan Schiff, is a gem. He cares about the students and the community at the school and he has been very successful in recruiting some really talented instructors. Between all of us in the family, we take lessons in vocals, drums, guitar and bass. There are also keyboard instructors, a violin teacher and several other multi-instrumental instructors. Recently, the school seems to have increased its emphasis on music theory as well, which is important to us.
I believe the school gives tours and offers free introductory lessons. If you are interested, the best way to see what the place is like is to go to the school, have a look around and try a lesson.

My son has enjoyed both the private electric guitar lessons and the Rock 101 classes. The teachers are kind, competent and yet ensure the kids behave respectfully towards their instrument and their peers.

Kelly who “runs” the school is absolutely awful. She is unprofessional, combative, lacks follow-up skills, lacks customer service skills, and is incredibly rude and unable to resolve conflict. I would never send my child to a place that is run by a person like Kelly. That said, I pulled my child out of the summer camp.

This is the fifth year I have sent my daughter to Girls Rock sleepaway camp. She absolutely LOVES it and cannot wait to go back each and every summer. The camp administrators are truly caring, creative, compassionate and amazing people. The campus in Ojai is beyond beautiful. She tells me that the food is delicious. There is nothing negative to say about this wonderful program!
This sleep away camp is amazing. Their mission is inspiring and empowering, and as someone who has been doing music their entire life, music is an amazing way to express, and to empower yourself.
Girls Rock changed my daughter’s life !
She has found her niche in music and made life long friends with other members there. GR has empowered her as a woman and given her acceptance into a very special community of females

Both my boys attended LRRS for years since the winter of 2013, the year they would have quit music classes we provided through private tutors. Four and half years later, my older grew his love for Rock, Country and anything in between. He plays his guitar almost every night after his sports trainings or his homework. My younger son would play drums on the iPad when I drove him to places. Thank you, for all the teachers and mentors at LRRS, who gave my sons a life long love for music. #smallthanks It would be tough to leave LRRS this fall when my older is going to HS and plays on a HS sports team. We are hoping his schedule would allow him to continue his journey.
We have absolutely loved our experience with Los Rios Rock School. It has been such a joy watching our 9-year-old daughter embrace the drums and grow her musical skills with her teacher Anthony. We would hands down recommend this program for anyone. We love being a part of the Los Rios family.
Los Rios has been a very fun and productive place for my child to learn more about music, singing and performance. I wish something like this existed when I was a kid.
My son has loved getting to learn how to play music with Gustavo – he’s the best! He is patient and does a great job teaching him how to play while making sure to keep it fun. We’re excited for him to continue to learn more so he can take advantage of all that Los Ríos has to offer!
Los Rios Rick school is a place where our son is aught by amazing professionals, gets to be in a live performing band, and has fun. We’ve been at the school 4 years and our son loves it! Phil, is teacher is so talented, patient, and flexible!

Legacy has been a great athletic outlet for my son over the past year. The facility is amazing, the instructors are all very friendly and professional. I have been very impressed with how they have maintained during the crazy times while others were closing down. I am so appreciative that they have been there for us.
Great facility. Kido has been going for about 1 year. Top notch facility and equipment. Lots of training classes, different trainig classes by experience and options (gymnastics, tumbling, ninja class). Management and coaches are great!! Highly recommend.

We attended a kids birthday party and they did a great job. The center is well equipped and totally brand new. There is plenty of parking directly out front, however determining where “front” is can be nearly impossible. They do not have signage and can’t install due to some lease issue. We were lost and must have driven by 5 times. If you are standing on the sidewalk at SLO Brew The Rock facing the airport then the building on the left is Legacy. But its the back. Happy searching, its a gymnastics centre worth finding.
Worst experience of my life.
I was deeply troubled by the complete lack of Covid-19 safety measure at Legacy during summer camps. None of the employees was wearing a mask, the kids were not asked to wash hands at arrival, temperature was not taken, parents were allowed in and not required to wear masks. This is in sharp contrast with other camps in the area, such as City of SLO, who go out of their way to ensure safety and prove that a childcare business can be run safely. In a phone call and pleaded with them to install safety protocols and was told they were “going to discuss it.” Nothing changed. Finally, under pressure from the SLO Health Department they said they were going to institute safety protocols. All they did was put the check in desk outside, still manned by a mask-less person. In an email to the parents they claimed that some of their employees have “medical conditions” which prevent them from wearing masks. While it is questionable how a person is healthy enough to work at a gymnastics facility but can’t wear a mask or face shield, why would that exact person be manning the check-in table? Their behavior shows an active resistance to safety and I do not plan to support them in the future.
Unfortunately this gym is unprofessional and poorly run. The owner Audra Gustin has been unprofessional and mean in dealing with her about an event here and I will never have a party here again. She is condescending, rude and treats people poorly. Try one of the other gymnastics centers in SLO. Do not let your kids around Audra!!!

I’ve already recommended the program to my sons friend and he actually came to a rehearsal to see what it’s all about. First of all, we love the extent of professionalism received by the manager/owner, Peter. Peter has gone above & beyond with us, answered all of our questions, and made my children feel very comfortable. In addition, the experience of the guitar instructor, Sean is amazing! He’s connected very well with my son, who has improved significantly within the short amount of time we’ve been part of Temecula’s School of Rock! My son has had such a good experience that we signed up my daughter who started singing with Jazmine today!!!

This place has really gone down hill with the new management. They play favorites and my son was bullied. His lesson days and teacher were changed constantly. No consistency. It is not a good environment for kids. Also, it is more expensive than any other music program. Don’t let the name fool you, they are not a school.
One of my best friends that was involved in the program had one of the best times of her life the first year School of Rock was open. After the change of Music Directors it all went downhill from then on, and now they can’t even touch an instrument without questioning herself….so thanks SOR

My disabled partner was looking for something fun to do in-between speech therapies and physical therapies. He needed something to take his mind off of things, something that may also be therapeutic. So, we decided to schedule a singing lesson at the school of rock. His speech therapist agreed, it was a great idea.
Hi appointment was scheduled for May 27 at 10:30am. They asked us to arrive at 10:15am. We planned the days schedule around the appointment. We showed up at 10:15am, as instructed. When we arrived they told my partner the vocal instructor had called in sick. They had been open since 9am yet they didn’t bother to call or email to cancel. They offered to reschedule for the following Saturday. We agreed.
Again they said to arrive at 10:15am for a 10:30 appointment on June 3rd. Again we planed our schedule around the appointment. However, around noon on the 2nd we received an email saying the appointment had been moved to 11:30am on the 3rd due to a staffing issue. We thought “Okay, well at least they contacted us in advance this time.”
We rearranged our schedule for the day. We arrived at 11:15am for an 11:30am appointment, as requested. Again they said someone didn’t show up, they didn’t have enough staff to cover the appointment.
I asked the person at the front desk why they hadn’t contacted us in advance for either cancellation. Their first response was to pass the buck and say “I don’t know I’m only here on Saturdays.” Perhaps this person isn’t payed enough to take responsibility for anything. Perhaps they aren’t payed enough to put in any amount of effort and make the situation right. I don’t know. I can only speculate. After some disingenuous apologies, an ear full of excuses, and no offer to make the situation right, we left unsatisfied.
The bottom line:
This company hasn’t any semblance of courtesy, consideration, reliability or professionalism. They wouldn’t know customer service if it bit them in their bass.
Would give zero stars it would let me. Scheduled my 9 year old daughter’s drum lesson over phone. She was very excited! Showed up and they had not Scheduled her, drum instructor was gone for the day, and they had no idea what happened? Unbelievably unprofessional, and worst of all, I had to look at the disappointment on my daughter’s face. I thought this was going to be a positive situation for her, instead they let her down.
