This place is great. 3 kids; Violin, guitar, ukelele. Director is nice, they seem to have a very flexible schedule with their teachers.
I’ve been a student here for many years. This place is a gem. The level of talent and professionalism of AAMC’s teachers is on par with any “big city” venue, such as Berklee or Juilliard. However, the degree of personal instruction is in a class all its own. For anyone wanting to improve their skills with playing an instrument and specifically, with performance, look no further than AAMC. This place rocks, both figuratively and, quite literally.
This place is special. My son and I learned how to play here, he at the age of 11 and I at the age of 49! They have the best teachers in the world. This is also a really nurturing place for kids. They get them into rock groups ASAP and organise gigs at local coffee shops. The kids learn fast and play really well because they’re highly motivated by their peers and by the great music. My son got so much out of this when he was starting out. It really gave him a lot of confidence as he developed his musical chops. He has his own students in Detroit now. I started in the Adult Blues program, then my interest shifted to jazz. At this time the Adult Jazz Class has disbanded, so I play in several outside jazz ensemble classes but still take private lessons at the Center with Carl who who I continue to learn so much from. They also have a guitar building shop in the basement, camps for kids in the summer, and I can leave my guitar here overnight when it needs a setup. Worth every penny.
These are the same people who really screwed us over in Ann Arbor. We started with them in May. Then 4 months later we show up for a lesson and the teacher says the whole school is moving to Saline at the end of next month and today is my last day. We knew that they were opening a school in Saline, but they never told us anything about moving the entire school. We enrolled two kids at this school! If we had known they were planning on moving, then we never would have started with them in the first place – but of course, they wanted our money …
School of Rock
Address: 6101 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 , Saline , Michigan , United States
Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁
Rocks and Robots Summer Day Camp
Address: Admin: 424 Little Lake Dr #37, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 Camp:1735, S Wagner Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 , Saline , Michigan , United States
My son has been going to this camp for quite a few years, and it’s always a good time. Dr. George is always extremely helpful with the kids. My son is not very athletic, but rock climbing has been a great confidence builder!
My granddaughter has been attending this camp since 2016. This year she will go for two weeks. This camp has been great for encouraging my granddaughter in an area we should all be encouraging our children in…….. computer programming. I am always amazed as she explains the “how’s” and “whys” she programmed her robot. My husband is a computer programmer and he said that our granddaughter is learning stuff that he did not learn until he was in college. This camp has been great for her self esteem. The first year she went she learned about robotics and also learned about rock climbing. She was nervous about the rock climbing part, however, the camp counselors were so supportive she took to the rock climbing like a fish to water. Every summer my granddaughter looks forward to attending Rocks and Robots.
So excited SoR came to Canton! Love the vibe of the place and how passionate the staff is!
My daughter has been a student with School of Rock, Canton since it opened in 10/2019. She loves the private lessons and group band practices. The best time of all is performing gigs out with the band. She has grown as a musician, singer and performer in a very short time. As a mom, I really appreciate the good people who teach and run the business at School of Rock Canton.
I was truly amazed of how my 9 year-old boy was able to go from zero knowledge of playing a keyboard to performing in front of an audience in a very short time. They have outstanding teachers and staff that are very professional plus motivate them and help them shake off first time stage-fright jitters.
Thanks, Chris! I’m thankful that Canton has the best School of Rock
They were super kind and accommodating but my child seemed to plateau in the rookies class. I fished for information on moving him forward and never got any real answers as to why he wasn’t ready for one on one lessons with one instrument as the focus.
They also restaffed the front desk and the new person doesn’t really know what they are doing. They also double charged me and more or less called me a liar when I informed them of it. I had to provide bank statements showing the double charge because they didn’t believe me. It was really bad customer service. Never got an apology for the double charge.
Between the lack of information and progress and the double charge I ended up ending our contract with them. Which was really sad because like I said they were super nice. Only reason they didn’t get 1 star was for John and Lorelei.
