My son took guitar lessons for six years at UM Community School of Music and he gained a vast amount of knowledge in technique and theory. He had the opportunity to work with a renowned classical guitarist and professor. We are so fortunate to have a school of this caliber right here in Shelby County! I highly recommend it.
I received piano lessons through the UM Community School from grades 9-12. I studied under Dr. Bean and Dr. Jones. Knowing I would not being pursuing piano as a career, both professors focused on strengthening my knowledge of music theory in our lessons. As a result, I was more than ready to begin my university studies as a music major; in fact, I was able to test out of taking any piano courses that were required for my degree. The quality of the teaching that one receives from this program is the highest in the area.
Non-credit individual lessons are provided in: piano, voice, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Each semester the Community School of Music also provides recitals for our students. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable performance skills in a professional environment.

The best Music Instructors. Special needs children are also taught music at the Academy. Carla and Keith are absolutely amazing. It is a certified music academy. They have a toddler music class as well. The range of instruments they teach span from the Harp to the piano .. absolutely incredible.
They are kind and patient with young children. I recommend.
Birmingham School Of Music

Mason Music is the absolute best! The staff goes above and beyond in helping my kids succeed in their musical journeys. This place is super fun and has endless opportunities outside your weekly lessons. I highly recommend Mason Music!!
Great place for kids to learn music. Teachers do a great job by encouraging them…I would highly recommend this place
Special ordered a guitar through these guys. Took longer than it normally would due to the pandemic, but they were professional and communicative throughout the whole process. Will definitely be shopping with Mason again.
Wonderful place for kids to learn music. Diverse knowledge base. Great instructors.
We have utilized lessons with Mason Music MB with both of our children. We love the flexibility and convenient location. Our teachers have been wonderful and provide the perfect introduction to music exploration!
Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center
Address: 1314 Shocco Springs Rd, Talladega, AL 35160 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
It was a very nice place to stay at and there were good people who works there and a nice place to go for a gift shop
Good place for connecting /Networking. Ideal for national and international conference
Shocco Springs is an amazing camp center. I had the ability to go when our youth camp decided to come for summer camp. The camp is run through Student Life Camps and has an amazing group of staff and individuals that help the camp run. The guys in our group including me stayed in Mount Moriah, which is one of the many lodging buildings available to stay in. The rooms were clean and fresh bedding was provided, although we brought our own. I opted to use the provided bedding. The rooms had two bunk beds for a maximum capacity of 4 people. The lower level of Mount Moriah (we stayed in the top level–a two story building) has a nice little lobby area with some chairs and a couch. Some guys in our group thought it would be funny to take the couch upstairs and place it in front of our leader’s room. We returned the couch afterwards.
The rest of the camp was very beautiful and well kept. There were some lawn care professionals maintaining the grounds while we stayed.
The recreation area, known as the “Adventure Camp” was very nice. The pool was large enough for our group to comfortably play in, as well as others. A diving board added to the fun. The Tennis courts and Basketball courts were very nice and well kept, but you will need to bring your own tennis supplies, as they are not provided. There was a small “lake” on camp grounds, with paddle boarding, and some water inflatables. We did not decide to go on these as they cost an extortionate amount of $8 for 30 mins of play. Not worth it.
It would we worth nothing that everything is fairly spread apart and there are some very intense hills throughout, which took a toll on our legs and knees. Golf Cart rentals were available for $35/day, but we had too many in our group that it would cost too much, so we didn’t do it.
The food service was very nice, the food tasted adequate and there was always a variety to choose from. It is a self serve food line, so you are free to eat what you choose. A nice addition is the unlimited complimentary Soft Serve Ice Cream available at each and every meal.
Overall I have to say Shocco Springs is one of my favourite camps that I’ve been to. Sure it’s a little hot here in Alabama, but that’s fine. Just bring some water, and going swimming can help tremendously.

Was a pretty nice place. Only used it as a hotel. Beds were comfy. Only bad thing I have is small bathrooms and the place kinda looks like camp crystal lake from halloween. Would definitely stay here again.
I would give this center no stars if that option was available. They overbooked rooms and would not assist churches that had paid for a certain number of rooms. The rooms were full of black mold and every item I brought stayed wet all week including my blankets. Our boys rooms were also full of spiders and bed bugs.
As if the rooms were not enough the food was horrendous. Staff members were not extremely helpful or kind. I would not recommend this location to anyone.
Moody Music Building

Great music hall right on campus. Jazz concert on 3/24/22 was great!
UA music department is awesome.
Horn Studio is the best!
False advertising.
Beautiful location, very nice, was here for MS honor band.
I have been to the Moody Music Hall twice in the past few years to watch my children at MPA. The inside and outside of Moody Music Hall is beautiful but the courtyard outside is in need of some upkeep! It looks like when it rains it washes a lot of the mulch from around the building down into the low spot in the middle of the courtyard.
I HATDD PLAYING
Baldwin County Youth Orchestra

Love this store. I think it is the best and most elegant looking music store, compared to the plethora of stores my son, my better half, and I visit individually. And we visit them all in Columbus, GA, Dahlonega, GA, Atlanta, GA, Phenix City, AL , and now we got Auburn. Definitely a favorite spot!
My daughter loves her piano lessons here. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.
Nice, helpful and the instructor is very good with my son.
I never really bought anything but strings & they always treat as if I bought 10 Les Paul’s theregreat bunch of guys & ladies thanks Spicer’s!!…
Lots of variety. I didn’t even buy anything, but asked one of the staff several questions about a few of their guitars and he was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The store itself looks pretty cool and has a nice flow to it. A cool spot to check out some good instruments. Parking can be sort of a pain during peak hours during the day, but overall it’s a good choice to visit anytime
Very helpful staff. Nice store.
Stoped in today to pick up some stuff.guy behind counter would not put his phone down to see if I needed any thing.
Great selection and helpful staff.
Came in with my daughter, looking to purchase a 12 string guitar. 5 employees ignore us for over 15 minutes. They were busy looking at their phones, and speaking to one another. We waited patiently but not one person even acknowledged we were there. Sad.
Maxine Couch Davis Hall

Best school for FINE ARTS in Alabama EXTREMELY nice and helpful students and staff. Soon to be freshman
Beautiful.campus.I went there to vote.Well organized process.
It’s a very nice campus in a small town. Lots of history in the surrounding area. I’ve been there several times, especially during baseball season.
Visit my friend here time to time nice quiet Campus.
Wonderful campus and great staff
Beautiful quiet campus. Enjoyed my visit.
Faculty and administrators need to work harder to ensure students can complete their degree program within four years. “Just take an extra semester” should not be the standard answer from faculty advisors every time there is a scheduling conflict (which is often!). The price you pay (literally!) for attending a small, cash-strapped school reliant almost entirely on tuition for funding, with limited course options.
Very disappointing
Unable to audit a French class because I had the wrong gender, color and age.
I did pay for the class but the instructor made it impossible to stay in the class.
I really wanted to like Montevallo, really I did, but it’s safe to say that I pretty horrible experience. In early 2020, me and mother shadowed the school and we both really liked it! At the time the school seemed lively, fun and everyone looked happy, but when the time came for me to go, it was an entirely different experience. I came in as an out-of-town transfer student that lived on campus and when I went, it was totally different experience. Everyone in the school seemed cold and unfriendly and with socially distancing and the mask mandate, it was nearly impossible to socialize. The campus seemed barren and desolate. My experience was a very lonely one and it effected me mentally. I had to end up dropping out because to it. I know there’s a pandemic going on, but you can’t just isolate kids and expect them to be okay with that.
The University of Alabama
Address: Tuscaloosa, AL 35487 , Pariconha , Alabama , United States
We went for the Admission tour. The hosts were great and we learned a lot about the campus.
I know everyone has their opinion of their favorite college team, but the University of Alabama campus Has to be one of the most beautiful campuses I have been on. Of course, I am a university of Alabama fan. ROLL TIDE!
Roll Tide til the day I die
Bad experience new world order is happening quickly, only had cash when I arrived at the Bama game, cash money wasn’t excepted.
The Hotel Capstone banquet halls are good facilities for different types of functions.
Love this place Roll Tide
Terrible school, too easy, doesn’t prepare you at all.
The University of Alabama is getting “too big for its britches” and is taking over the city. I want to move. On football Saturdays I feel like a prisoner in my own home. There are too many students. It is ridiculous and involves much greediness on the part of the powers that be at UA.
