Love this place from the owners to the instructors
My 13 year old daughter loves it here! She is guitarist and has been playing/taking lessons for 9 years.
When the studio opened, we thought it’d be a great place for her to grow her knowledge of music. She did a songwriting summer camp and really loved it. Since then, her interest in music has expanded exponentially. She takes guitar and drum lessons here, and also takes performance band (which is seriously the coolest concept ever).
I attribute her passion to the warm, welcoming, and safe environment the owners and teachers have cultivated here. The teachers provide nearly instant feedback when a lesson is finished. The end of the term performances are so fun – it is so amazing to watch the kids learn how to perform fun songs for an audience!
If your kiddo is interested in music, this is the place to be!
I love music. I love concerts. I always imagined myself as a musician, but failed at piano and guitar previously. At School of Rock, their approach worked!
In three months, i went from never having played the drums … to I can play solid basic beats over the whole kit l. Our beginner band even performed a public mini-gig with an audience at a local bistro. A fantastic experience.
Teachers so talented and patient with me. Great equipment to practice on too. Everyone is chill and really supportive. Weekly private lessons and a separate group/band session with other players learning instruments too…awesome and the key to getting better.
Shout outs to my teachers Mandy, Matt and Jordan and owners Jon and Sarah. They are the best.

Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

My boys and I love School of Rock Canton — we have a 9 year old in the Rock 101 for keyboard, a 5 year old in the Rookies group (looks like he’s gonna be a drummer) and I play bass with the adult group. From top to bottom: management, staff, instructors, and students are all amazing — felt like a family really quickly!
I was truly amazed of how my 9 year-old boy was able to go from zero knowledge of playing a keyboard to performing in front of an audience in a very short time. They have outstanding teachers and staff that are very professional plus motivate them and help them shake off first time stage-fright jitters.
Thanks, Chris! I’m thankful that Canton has the best School of Rock
My daughter has been a student with School of Rock, Canton since it opened in 10/2019. She loves the private lessons and group band practices. The best time of all is performing gigs out with the band. She has grown as a musician, singer and performer in a very short time. As a mom, I really appreciate the good people who teach and run the business at School of Rock Canton.
They were super kind and accommodating but my child seemed to plateau in the rookies class. I fished for information on moving him forward and never got any real answers as to why he wasn’t ready for one on one lessons with one instrument as the focus.
They also restaffed the front desk and the new person doesn’t really know what they are doing. They also double charged me and more or less called me a liar when I informed them of it. I had to provide bank statements showing the double charge because they didn’t believe me. It was really bad customer service. Never got an apology for the double charge.
Between the lack of information and progress and the double charge I ended up ending our contract with them. Which was really sad because like I said they were super nice. Only reason they didn’t get 1 star was for John and Lorelei.

I have personally played gigs with many teenagers who came out of this program and they play like professionals, with top-notch proficiency and excellent attitudes! I recommend this place more than any other in the Metro Detroit area!
Best place in town for rehearsal space! Their studio is top notch!
We love the DSRP!!! My boys have excelled so much since they began taking lessons and joined a band 3 years ago. We drive an hour each week from Grosse Ile and it is definitely worth it!
I came for voice lessons and found that everyone here is experienced, knowledgeable, and just passionate about music and theatre. It’s pretty cool! Lessons are both informative and just an overall good time.
Love, love, love Josh and company! My daughter has been a student with Josh for 3 years. He’s amazing! Highly recommend him!
My guitar skills have improved greatly as a result of being a student of J-Ro School of Music. Josh has an enthusiastic and detailed approach to music instruction, which is an asset in propelling a student to the next skill level musically.
Classes are good but sometimes you can’t hear yourself even with the headphones as some instrumentalist will be playing acoustic instruments
We’ve been attending for several months now, underwhelmed by our child’s progress. Appears to be partially attributable to poor management

Grosse Pointe Music Academy in Canton is great for music lessons. Our 10 year old daughter has been going there for a couple years. She is learning to play guitar and loves it. Her instructor, Jon, is excellent and brings enthusiasm when he teaches. We also enjoy working with Katelynn the office manager. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend Grosse Pointe Music Academy for music lessons of any kind.
We found GPMA about two years ago. After receiving our free, no-strings-attached guitar lesson, we were hooked! Everything about this place exuded a feel of warmth and professionalism right from the start. Both my daughters take guitar and piano lessons here, and we couldn’t be happier. The instructors invest in getting to know their students, and they make learning how to play an instrument fun. The receptionist is extremely friendly and keeps the place welcoming and organized. The location is also very convenient. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who not only wants to learn music, but who also wants to love music as well.
The music teachers at Canton Music Academy are great with the kids. My son enjoys every second of class with his guitar instructor. The teachers are knowledgeable and qualified. everyone there bends over backwards to make the experience complete.
It was nice the guitar teacher was knowledgeable and kind. Check it out if kids want music lessions
The secretary it’s not friendly at all.
Interlochen Center for the Arts

Nori tk mucho, estoy muy orgullosa de ti. No quiero que te vayas 🙁
i went last year it was awsome
An exception and special venue. What a treat to this available in Northern Michigan. Bring your tailgate items and picnic dinner before an evening show. Delightful!
Far from perfect but a great arts camp overall
Nice summer camp! Great concerts! The only thing is I have very limited cellular service on campus. WIFi on campus is also not great.
I’ve heard of Interlochen before, and know a few people that have attended. This was my first experience going to a concert there. My husband and I got there early to look around. It was really fun, and we enjoyed listening to students practice in the small practice cabins littered throughout the campus.
The Concert itself was great. I saw other people complain about having to bring in a clutch or clear bag instead of a purse. Those rules are stated clearly when you buy the ticket though, nice and big. I brought a clutch and was SO glad I did. The stadium is nice, but the seating is old. So there really isn’t much space for everyone to be bringing in large bags.
Everyone was also great about listening to the music and not taking out your phones to take photos. (Also a rule) it’s the first time in ages I’ve been anywhere were people weren’t taking selfie after selfie the entire time. (People, including me, took out their phones at the very last performance to take photos, and I think that worked best.)
Also, the Tamale Ladies food truck was at the venue! So freaking yummy!
It was horrible here. Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is cheaper and better. Anyways, the cabins leaked, we had a raccoon, and my teacher made our tuba player cry several times. Anyways, Blue Lake has fun teachers, outside pavilion practices, and much more.
Brothers Osborne did a good concert but everything about the venue sucked. From no alcohol to no smoking. Anywhere during the event. Reconsider if your looking to go have fun at a concert!!!
First I have to say I loved the area and the venue. We went to see a concert and the concert was amazing and it fit the venue very well. In the midst of all of this someone seemed to come up with a series of rules that not only did not make sense, but were enforced by students who were not prepared or mentally mature enough to determine their effect on people. The rules caused confusion and chaos and impacted a significant number of people. I am sure someone thought they were doing it for safety or other reasons, but they did not achieve their goal in a well thought out manner. The volunteers were very helpful and were positive but the actual group of young people in charge were not. I suggest going as this is an amazing place. (My mother went to the school) Be prepared, however, to be treated poorly. Set it aside and enjoy and you might have a good time. (It would be nice too if you could have something besides water when watching a show, not alcohol, but at least something with flavor)

Piano lessons for my GrandSun, Quince Jr.
Great place to work at as a teacher, and wonderful atmosphere for clients of all ages to learn. The owner is awesome, and staff here at the front desk are exceptionally accommodating in every situation. I highly recommend working here and/or getting music lessons!
My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
I attempted to take singing lessons here. Unfortunately, on the day my lesson was scheduled, there was a power outage, so it was postpones. Now obviously this was out of their control, but they told me that they would call to reschedule and never did. We attempted to contact them numerous times about it, and they never got back to us.
The lessons could be the best in the city, but if they’re this difficult to work with…
Dixboro Music Academy

My children and I had with a wonderful experience at Dixboro Music Academy!
Our teachers, David, Silver, Charlie and Tyler were highly knowledgeable and incredibly inspiring. Their passion for music shone through in every session, created an environment where learning was a joyous experience. Their dedication to their craft and their ability to convey complex concepts in a simple and enjoyable manner truly defines their exceptional teaching skills. Their guidance and expertise not only helped us improve our technical skills but also deepened our appreciation for various musical styles and genres and of course, our love for music. We were encouraged to explore our creativity while fostering a sense of confidence and personal growth within us. We have so much appreciation for the whole team for their outstanding commitment to providing top-notch education and music instruction. Our time with Dixboro has been invaluable, and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend their services to anyone seeking a positive and enriching musical experience.
I’m so very happy Dixboro music academy is now open! Great teachers and professional staff. I couldn’t be happier
Good experience at Dixboro music. Super convenient to schedule different options for music lessons for my daughter. Easy to reschedule. Owner is very accommodating, friendly, and organized.
Oz’s Music
Address: 1920 Packard St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 , Nyasvizhski Rayon , Michigan , United States
Wonderful family owned business who care about music and their customers! They give honest advice about lessons and the purchasing of instruments, especially banjos.
First Oz and his wife are simple, amazing and kind people. They are patient and totally in love with music.
I know next to nothing, (my wife’s family brings in all the music knowledge through their history of professional musicians). However, I never felt looked down on by them. They always take time to answer my questions and help.
You will find a plethora of new and used instruments and more. They are fairly priced and very knowledgeable.
The camps and music class are a delight. My daughters love for music is being nurtured by Oz’s pédagogie and talent.
I love this family and this business! Oz himself is an Ann Arbor legend, and is well loved by students, customers, and community members alike! Leslie is the backbone of operations and customer service, she is an absolute joy! If you haven’t had the pleasure to meet you either of them stop by and see what they’re all about! #BuyLocal #SupportSmallBusinesses
A great little music store. Full service. Friendly staff.
Had my guitar fixed there, and while most music shops I go too replace your strings free of charge after a repair, I had to buy a new set on top of the repair cost. Overall a good experience though.
A nice little music shop on Packard across from Frasers pub Ann Arbor. Price tags may seem to be much higher compared to Amazon but some of the instruments are exclusive. They run some classes too. Parking is limited and tricky access. It’s much easier to park on the side roads or across.
6 pm is awfully early to close.
liked them at first but they sold me a lemon and have a no return policy. waste of $150
I brought my Custom shop strat in for setup and intonation. I was ready to pay up to $150 to have a new nut put on and have the intonation set.
They polished my guitar, put on a new set of strings, charged me $137 and told me I was tuning my guitar wrong.
They suggested I use the Buzz Feiten tuning method (they are not an authorized Buzz Feiten retrofitter)
What they meant was: I should tune all of my strings to my E-string.
In short, they ripped me off and insulted me by assuming I can’t tune my guitar properly.
I ended up replacing the nut and adjusting the intonation myself.
