The owner of this location, Thomas is one amazing individual! He and his staff and extremely passionate about music and teaching others. This location is an inspirational place to be no matter what age, skill level, instrument or genre you may want to learn, they will give you the knowledge to create music all while making it fun and understanding how to work with different types of learners.
Not open when I was there.
My kids have gotten a ton out of the programs at this school. I signed them up and liked being there so much that I took keys lessons, too! So awesome! Great vibe, great staff, clean, cool place to hang out and gain musical confidence and skills. Thomas puts his whole heart into his students and the whole staff cares so much about the kids.
I used to sing a lot as a little girl and up into high school, but then I got married and life got busy. I was looking for a place to get my vocal skills back, and I found it here. The open-mic nights are laid-back and there is a ton of fresh talent. I’m so grateful to have found such a good musical community to be a part of.

School of Rock makes learning music so much fun! Everyone is so nice and supportive! My son loves it and is increasing confidence because of it in a way that traditional piano lessons wasn’t accomplishing.
Our son absolutely loves School of Rock. He’s learned a lot, and plays a wide variety of songs. He kind of wishes he could go to school of rock instead of actual school! The teachers are great, and Kelly does an amazing job at scheduling and communication.
competent creative teachers and helpful front desk team
This place used to be fabulous with great instructors who were trained in teaching kids – not just in playing. Over the past six months almost all of those teachers (who are still shown on the website) have left. The operations of the place have gone downhill and the newer instructors are a much lower caliber. It is disappointing to give a mediocre rating, as this place used to be great and my kids loved it. I hope they can turn things around.
Our daughter has grown as a musician while taking lessons and participating in performance groups. Our highlight so far has been performing at The Fox theater in Boulder. Next up…Red Rocks!
**Editing this review WAY up from 1 star because this School has undergone some MAJOR changes in the last 6 months! There is NEW management, there are some FABULOUS (and also new) instructors, and everything is just looking amazing for this place. I’m grateful and relieved that we stuck it out through a challenging time — this is an amazing place for our kid (He has been playing here for 4 years now).
I fully expect to be able to bump this review up to 5 stars over the next several months.
We had a poor experience with the staff at the Boulder School of Rock. I understand that they have had a lot of turnover recently, Lessons were cancelled last minute and there were problems with payments. I would not recommend it to anyone.
They aren’t helping families who can’t afford to pay for lessons during this pandemic and not only that but they are still applying their 30 day notice for canceling your classes so they families who can’t afford it still have to pay for those 30 days no matter what. This is just not cool and shows they don’t care about their students and their families.
School of Rock Highlands Ranch
Address: 9265 S Broadway #200, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
We are so thrilled with School of Rock in Highlands Ranch. My 7 year old son has been going here for just over 2 months now, learning drums. He’s learned so so so much in the short time he’s been there, and he’s loved every minute of it. The owners are so supportive of all the kids, and his personal instructor Christian is absolutely amazing with him.
Colorado Academy Summer Programs
Address: 3800 S Pierce St, Denver, CO 80235 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
I am a counselor at Colorado Academy Summer programs. This is my third summer working with Colorado Academy. I have been a camp counselor at 2 other camps before joining the staff here. In addition I am a third grade teacher. Colorado Academy is the best camp I have worked at. The culture is great and the kids have a great time. One thing that makes Colorado Academy different from other camps in the metro area is structure. There are scheduled activities everyday, there are routines and rhythms of camp so kids know what to expect. The staff is inclusive, caring and highly engaged with campers. This was not my experience at other camps I worked at. Children have the opportunity to explore their personality, freedom to use their imagination, and can trust that there will be an adult supporting them. The day camp program is fantastic but there are also many specialty camps that offer great experiences as well! Jenny and the directors are empathetic caring, and great listeners. They are problem solvers and everyone works to meet the needs of every kid and ensure they have a great summer!
Colorado Academy camps have been a part of my son’s summers for the past 4 years, and it keeps getting better and better every year. Whatever your child is interested in, you can find it here. And as I’ve found, even if your child isn’t interested initially, it might be a great opportunity to explore new things. This has been the case for us as my son has pushed himself to try new things (martial arts, paddle boarding, STEM) and LOVED it.
Simply put, CA Summer Programs provide a safe, fun, engaging environment for kids to explore, learn, and just be kids – even more necessary now during this weird time in our lives. I have not found the diversity of offerings anywhere else, and as a protective mom, know that I can trust my child to them. Their staff screening and training, particularly around body safety rules and sexual abuse prevention, is intensive, and they have strict policies in place to keep kids safe. They’ve seamlessly adapted to COVID safety needs and keep the camps, drop-offs and pickups running smoothly and efficiently.
Most importantly, at the end of EVERY day, my child comes home happy! The admin team, Jenny and Kim, are undisputed all-stars. Their staff and partners are top tier. We look forward to many more fun, educational summers at Colorado Academy Summer Programs.
The Rock and Pop Music Academy of Boulder
Address: 3200 Valmont Rd #10, Boulder, CO 80301 , Northglenn , Colorado , United States
Rock and Pop Music Academy has been an amazing support for the musicians in our family. We started off with drum lessons for our son and that quickly led into joining a performance band. He has transitioned to bass guitar lessons and is still playing in a performance band at Rock and Pop Academy. He’s had the opportunity to play fun venues around town including Oskar Blues, Bohemian Biergarten, and Fox Theater. The individual lessons and group lessons for the band have helped him grow so much as a musician. He can’t wait to go to a lesson or practice and is inspired to practice at home all the time. My son was having so much fun that we signed my daughter up for piano lessons and I signed up for voice lessons. From the lessons to the summer camps, it’s been a wonderful experience all around.
Our 9 yo son has participated in RPMA’s program for the last two years in multiple bands and we have been consistently impressed. In addition to performance (which can be at Boulder’s Fox Theatre!), the program instructors teach long-term music, social and leadership skills – all important pieces to becoming a lifelong musician (and decent human). RPMA’s connection with the Lesson Studio has helped our son receive comprehensive music instruction, and his band teachers provide solid guidance to him and his peers, resulting in a coherent, high quality, supportive atmosphere. RPMA does a great job of grouping like-skilled musicians together, but also ensures more experienced players have an opportunity to teach less experienced players (and understand that responsibility). Gary’s Gutierrez, RPMA’s director, works hard to make playing in a band accessible, fun and challenging, and is 100% committed to ensuring the kids long-term interest in music.
We love RPMA! Our son started off learning to play guitar taking lessons at the lesson studio and decided he wanted to try playing with other people in a band. RPMA is a great experience for students just learning to play with others or for more advanced players as well. He even did an RPMA camp last summer where his band learned many songs and performed a concert at end. He has become not just a better guitar player but a better performer who loves to play! It has been incredible to watch him grow.

This is so much fun. Great staff. Great place for kids to rock out. My daughter in 6 months has loved every minute and lives electric guitar which she had never played before joining
Our son has been with the School of Rock in Fort Collins since they opened. It has been an absolutely fabulous experience for him. He has learned so much, and has gained lifelong skills and connections. Being a part of the House Band has been phenomenal! We are grateful to the crew for helping him learn to Rock!
Fantastic people, school and programs. Learning is VERY approachable and seems to really take into considerations the many factors emotionally and technically of their students. I was here for the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce Red Carpet event and ribbon cutting. Great turn out!
