Staff is great and really know how to keep kids excited about learning and playing music.
Great place to learn how to really enjoy and play great music.
We love everything about this place. Both our boys are students. And we love our School of Rock Chicago West community.
They get the kids playing real songs at real shows in real venues very quickly, which is a great way to learn music and build confidence.
Private lessons help build technique, and ensemble classes teach cooperation, responsibility, and showmanship. And it’s all done in a fun, mutually supportive atmosphere.
The staff are very kind, accommodating, and welcoming. And it’s just so much fun to see young musicians grow in ability and confidence.
Send your aspiring musician here!

Great school! The owners are great and the staff is super friendly. Love to work here!
I had a wonderful experience! My instructor was very friendly and honestly the best drum teacher i have ever had. I was never given basic fundamentals and we went over those as well as played songs that I listen to all the time. Would highly recommend this location! 🙂
Great experience. I learned a lot in a short period of time. I felt like the instructors knew which path to take with me and were good listeners. The staff was flexible and prompt to respond to my emails.
My child enjoyed their lessons, but this business practices incredibly deceptive billing, re-scheduling, and cancellation policies.

Love School of Rock. Great job with lessons and I love the performance shows.
We have been a part of the wonderful School of Rock Mokena family for a year now. Our son enjoyed learning and playing Keys and has since taken up Guitar. The teachers and staff are amazing. Our son is a quiet kid but with School of Rock, he is now showing a completely new side to his artistic capabilities.
It’s an amazing place for kids so they can be heard when they have an artist in them!
Summer Camp is so much fun for my guitarist! It brings out the little rockstar in her. I love the energy of the teachers and how they inspire the kids to do their best! I would give it 5 out of 5 stars, but the cost is high for lessons and camp.

My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
So much fun! We had a great time.
American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Over the 3 years I’ve been here, School of Rock has become my home away from home. The relationships I have formed with the staff and fellow musicians have shaped who I am as a person. My guitar playing has Improved greatly not only because of lessons but also the performance programs offered. I am currently taking 3 lessons per week, participating in two bands offered by the school and interning. It is easy to say that School of Rock has changed not only my life, but almost everyone who goes here. Do yourself or your kids a favor and sign them up for School of Rock. -Sam Frederickson, 18
ROCK and ROLL
My daughter has been a student at School of Rock Evanston for going on 2 years and LOVES the time she gets to spend there. The school is filled with teachers, young and oldish, all passing along their love of making music to a younger generation. The community is very welcoming and my daughter feels valued and supported by everyone in it. I HIGHLY recommend giving your kids this kind of experience, mine has benefitted immensely from her time here!
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.
School of Rock
Address: 116 S Washington St, Hinsdale, IL 60521 , Morgan Park , Illinois , United States
In particular, Hinsdale SOR will go through all songs at each rehearsal. Other SOR programs do not get through all the songs so there is a lot of down time for many kids.
Absolutely LOVE this SOR! They have such a great group of instructors who are knowledgeable, talented and completely dedicated to the development of young musicians. Top-Down they are fantastic and my daughter plans to continue being a part of it through high school and come back to be an instructor! Thank you SOR for helping my daughter find her passion and flourish! ~Very Happy Parent of a Girl Drummer
I can’t explain how incredibly grateful I am to be a part of the School of Rock community. I found School of Rock when I was stuck, struggling to be a better musician. I hit a roadblock so to speak. I had my first few lessons and my first rehearsal in Performance Group and felt alive again. I was learning, like truly learning, from peers who are more talented and experienced than I am, from instructors who are extremely educated in music, and from people who just genuinely care. I have come so far from having shaky vocals and playing only open chords on a guitar, to having a powerhouse voice and playing lead licks in my performance group as well as making it into House Band, in just over 6 months. Thanks for everything School of Rock!

Address: 105 Maple Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126 , Morgan Park , Illinois , United States
School of Rock Elmhurst provides an incredible opportunity for students to grow as musicians, to learn the value of teamwork and camaraderie from playing in a band of peers, to build self-esteem, and to have fun. The instructors and band leaders at School of Rock Elmhurst are extremely talented and patient with everyone. Our son loves School of Rock! We love watching the shows that he, his peers, and the band leaders and instructors are able to put on thanks to all of their hard work.
Great teacher my daughter loves her classes with Bailey she feels super comfortable and enjoyes it
My daughter has been at Elmhurst School of Rock for 3 years. She is 11 1/2 years old and has grown and matured in her skills, thus providing her with an immense amount of confidence. The teachers are amazing and very talented. We are there 3 days a week for vocals, guitar and song writing. Every week, they continue to engage her with exciting material and lessons. The group performance program has taught her to practice, somewhat like a sport, not just for her, but for her bandmates. My girl is a rocker and there is no other place she wants to be!
LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. My daughter won’t stop talking about it. Great space, everyone is friendly and I love the vibe.
Wish a few teachers had a little more training in controlling kids. Some kids like to take control of the class and a couple teachers are too gentle in calling them. It effects class time for others.
Very unprofessional.
Morgan Park Academy
Address: 2153 W 111th St, Chicago, IL 60643 , Morgan Park , Illinois , United States
Best education in all of Chicago, and possibly Illinois.
TBH, I didn’t exactly “love” it while attending; just your typical teenage stuff. Still it is one of/if not the best college prep schools in the tri-state area. It can be easily confused with Morgan Park HS, which is public and down the street a bit.
Beware. Teachers at MPA do not have to have a teaching certificate. The facilities are antiquated and falling apart. Campus is located in a dangerous neighborhood in the south side of Chicago. MPA is all about making money. All other private schools are a better option.
Completed the application, did the exam, did interviews, did the tour; never got so much as a phone call back.
School of Rock

I so wish this kind of place existed when I was a kid! But I’m so thankful that I can send my kids here to not only learn music basics, but also to get exposure to real music, not the mass produced pay-to-play radio garbage that has swindled the vast majority of the population into thinking The Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback are reasonable artists to listen to. Well F#¢K THAT! You wouldn’t feed your children a steaming pile of cat vomit, so why let them listen to it? Save music, and take your kids somewhere to learn music from people who actually know music.
Thank you for existing, School of Rock.
School of Rock has been a great experience for my daughter. She has learned to play great music and perform on stage with a band. Best of all, she has made new friends and has had a lot of fun. The performances are always fantastic and enjoyable for friends and family. I cannot recommend School of Rock Naperville highly enough!
Nothing short of amazing…SoR has an amazing staff from the front desk fella, rocking manager, phenomenal owner, to the beyond talented instructors. My son takes keyboard and guitar lessons at SoR and LOVES it. I never have to beg him to practice like I did with his regular piano lessons. His teacher is a bonafide star (Adam Krier of LBC and AM Taxi) with so much talent, musical wisdom, and a cool factor that motivates my son more so than any other teacher he has ever had. The instructors are real life rock stars with hearts of gold who will motivate and inspire your budding musicians. Run don’t walk to sign-up for lessons, camp, or the performance program. The kids get to perform for large audiences on stage at real venues with their band. Invaluable experiences abound!
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.
School of Rock
Address: 536B Crescent Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 , Morgan Park , Illinois , United States
The instructors are knowledgeable about many different genres, theories, and patterns in music. They tailor each lesson to the student’s interests and preferences; explaining various musical aspects in ways that students of any age are able to understand. They encourage students to keep striving toward goals and greater potential. The atmosphere seriously feels like that of a big family every time I walk in there.
I have had an incredible experience at SOR. My drum teacher Dave has patiently responded to my teaching needs and provided encouragement. When I was ready, he encouraged me to join the adult band. The school, teacher, and band have been a very positive influence in my life:)
School of Rock Glen Ellyn has been a wonderful place for my kids. They have grown – musically and as people. To provide a kid with a music education, as well as a chance to grown in self confidence and belong is priceless.
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.

We have had our child at School Of Rock for over three years now, and it’s been a wonderful experience! Great instructors, excellent music, really could not be happier!
My son Ryan really enjoys the group performance aspect of School of Rock. I would definitely recommend it!
The school provides interesting programs that have the kids actively making music.
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

It’s been over 3 years since our daughter joined School of Rock. Along with voice, piano, guitar lessons, it’s been awesome to see our daughter flourish. Her confidence and ability to socialize with people have been values added. The teachers are so talented and have the heart of gold. In addition, I’ve been taking adult voice lessons and participate in the adult band for the past 1yr 1/2. It’s been a lot of fun getting to know fellow band members while enjoying singing. It’s such a mental therapy… a happy place!
We have been sending all 4 of our kids to SOR Highwood for several years. We have had our kids in classes ranging from ages 7-18. We are so thrilled with the impact that the teachers and the programs have made on our kids. Our kids love playing in bands with other kids – it has really sharpened their musical skills and playing their performances in public settings has built the confidence needed to play in front of others. The teachers are talented, patient and provide good lesson plans for the songs the kids are rehearsing. If your child is looking for fun musical opportunities, we highly recommend SOR Highwood – our kids have certainly been positively impacted and their love of playing and listening to music would not be the same without SOR Highwood.
LOVE School of Rock! My daughter has had such a wonderful experience her, both 1 on 1 lessons and the Rock 101 groups. SOR has taken her playing to the next level. Highly recommend.
Merit School of Music

The Music Classes my son has taken since little truly were life-changing for him. We always knew my son was pretty musical, but Merit School of Music teachers were able to help him tap into abilities that still surprise us every day.”
In times of Covid, Merit has been a consistent bright spot for our family. No, it’s not the same as being in class, but Merit has pivoted quickly to figure out how to keep children engaged and singing and exploring beats even virtually. Also, we love Miss Kristen Regester’s playfully imagination, like camping-theme sessions. Thank you Merit!
An experience for anyone, Merit has a great faculty. I’ve spent many memorable years here and highly recommended this music school .
My family loves Merit Music. My daughter studied with Ms. Elena for 12 years. Her instruction was caring and deeply informed; Ms.Elena is an inspiring artists. My nephew and neighbors have enthusiastically attended various classes over the years. I highly recommend Merit.
Best place to learn music
I dont understand the work and its a fast pace like only one subject per lesson how am i going to remember that. It’s uncontrollably boring and i hate staying to the house all day long just sitting there doing work and waiting to the next classconnect. 🙁
I bought tickets to a comedy show that was to be held at this institution. I then found out the show was cancelled by this institution as a form of censorship. I thought free expression was a staple of art and question the ethics of Merit and any other school simultaneously promoting art and censorship
Canceled venue for no reason, cost me alot of money…Very Unprofessional!!!
