My nephew Cameron does guitar lessons with Tommy. He really loves it. Tommy does a great job. Really happy we chose here and got Tommy.
This place is truly special in terms of learning music in a non traditional way! The owners, Jon and Sarah, really go all out for both their staff and students! I’ve seen kids run to their parents in excitement when wanting to sign up while learning high levels of music theory and note reading. It’s really amazing!
My 13 year old daughter loves it here! She is guitarist and has been playing/taking lessons for 9 years.
When the studio opened, we thought it’d be a great place for her to grow her knowledge of music. She did a songwriting summer camp and really loved it. Since then, her interest in music has expanded exponentially. She takes guitar and drum lessons here, and also takes performance band (which is seriously the coolest concept ever).
I attribute her passion to the warm, welcoming, and safe environment the owners and teachers have cultivated here. The teachers provide nearly instant feedback when a lesson is finished. The end of the term performances are so fun – it is so amazing to watch the kids learn how to perform fun songs for an audience!
If your kiddo is interested in music, this is the place to be!

Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

My daughter has been a student with School of Rock, Canton since it opened in 10/2019. She loves the private lessons and group band practices. The best time of all is performing gigs out with the band. She has grown as a musician, singer and performer in a very short time. As a mom, I really appreciate the good people who teach and run the business at School of Rock Canton.
My boys and I love School of Rock Canton — we have a 9 year old in the Rock 101 for keyboard, a 5 year old in the Rookies group (looks like he’s gonna be a drummer) and I play bass with the adult group. From top to bottom: management, staff, instructors, and students are all amazing — felt like a family really quickly!
So excited SoR came to Canton! Love the vibe of the place and how passionate the staff is!
They were super kind and accommodating but my child seemed to plateau in the rookies class. I fished for information on moving him forward and never got any real answers as to why he wasn’t ready for one on one lessons with one instrument as the focus.
They also restaffed the front desk and the new person doesn’t really know what they are doing. They also double charged me and more or less called me a liar when I informed them of it. I had to provide bank statements showing the double charge because they didn’t believe me. It was really bad customer service. Never got an apology for the double charge.
Between the lack of information and progress and the double charge I ended up ending our contract with them. Which was really sad because like I said they were super nice. Only reason they didn’t get 1 star was for John and Lorelei.

Great atmosphere, the staff really seem to care about music and their students. The Little Wings program is awesome and run by very cool teachers.
Everyone here is so welcoming here! I was able to sign up for a trial lesson with the general manager Josh. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by Samantha who gave us a tour of the newly renovated facility. Our lesson was with Scott and he left a lastly impression on my child. I would definitely recommend checking them out.
Our daughter was in the Little Wings class and is now in the Rookies class and she loves it here! It amazes me, the things she comes home knowing about rhythm, instruments, and even classic rock artists. We also just held her 6th birthday party there, and WOW, it was incredible. The instructors were very organized (more than my husband and I), and the activities were a hit. They learned a Moana (the bday girls’ party theme) song on Ukeleles, decorated guitars, and played bingo. The best part was that we (the parents) were able to sit back and let the kids enjoy the party rather than stressing out. The communication has been excellent as well for both the classes as well as the party. I can’t say enough great things.

If you’re thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.
Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you’re looking to get into music.
I have personally played gigs with many teenagers who came out of this program and they play like professionals, with top-notch proficiency and excellent attitudes! I recommend this place more than any other in the Metro Detroit area!
We love the DSRP!!! My boys have excelled so much since they began taking lessons and joined a band 3 years ago. We drive an hour each week from Grosse Ile and it is definitely worth it!
The new Community Music School building is well organized, and the design of the place is colorful and welcoming. It provides good music lessons and a place to practice on percussion instruments. The percussion studio is also much improved.
Great experience and opportunity for the client that I take to music class
Pretty limited parking here, but the Ten Pound Fiddle puts on great concerts here.
Small space, good show
It is horibl

Katelynn was very helpful. She really made me feel comfortable leaving my kids there. Love this place.
I did a lot of reasearch and read numerous online reviews before making a commitment to any music school. The Canton Music Academy continued to catch my interest. So I made the call and I can say without hesitation it was the best decision I could’ve made. From day one my experience with the staff was awesome. They’re all so friendly and professional and easy to communicate with. I don’t have much experience with playing drums but I have a strong desire to learn. My drum instructor showed great understanding as to my music goals and prepared a lesson plan to allow me to progress in a way that was easy for me to learn. I’m so happy I chose the Canton Music Academy.
This is Not a review. I’m really looking for feedback. Did you all really do “trial” lessons with numerous instructors before settling on one? Hopefully they will add instructor names to the website to look up ahead of time. Or maybe I just missed it on the website.
I spoke with someone there twice to learn about the process. The first time she was nice and informative. The second time she seemed busy-it happens, and that’s ok, no worries. I also visited the facility once, it looked decent. the receptionist was cordial. This is conveniently located in Canton on Canton Center road. More to follow once we start classes.
It was nice the guitar teacher was knowledgeable and kind. Check it out if kids want music lessions
The secretary it’s not friendly at all.

My children and I had with a wonderful experience at Dixboro Music Academy!
Our teachers, David, Silver, Charlie and Tyler were highly knowledgeable and incredibly inspiring. Their passion for music shone through in every session, created an environment where learning was a joyous experience. Their dedication to their craft and their ability to convey complex concepts in a simple and enjoyable manner truly defines their exceptional teaching skills. Their guidance and expertise not only helped us improve our technical skills but also deepened our appreciation for various musical styles and genres and of course, our love for music. We were encouraged to explore our creativity while fostering a sense of confidence and personal growth within us. We have so much appreciation for the whole team for their outstanding commitment to providing top-notch education and music instruction. We had my daughter’s 7th birthday at GPMA earlier this month and it was a blast!!!! The kids had so much fun, learning rhythm and trying out all the instruments. Toepher and Dave were great instructors and helpful throughout the entire party. My friends and family loved it and said how creative and fun it was. I would highly recommend GPMA as an option for a birthday event. And, piano lessons may be in my daughter’s future at GPMA! Great place and very inspiring!
Attending Music Together with my son has been such an amazing experience, and continues to be something we look forward to each semester.
We started attending class when he was 8 months old and within weeks his love for music and dance was abundantly clear. I have no doubt in my mind that these classes are cultivating a real passion for music and rhythm in him that may not have developed quite the way it is without Music Together.
It has created so many lasting memories for our family, both in class and out, as it has encouraged us to incorporate singing, dancing, playing instruments and general fun into our daily lives with music. I can’t recommend this program enough!
I’d like to share a very pleasant experience with the academy. I go to the location in Grosse Pointe. First, I want to start by saying how talented and what a wonderful teacher and a coach Cheryl is. I believe, that I have improved ten fold ( that is, including my peers) since I’ve started taking lessons with her. Second, Kala, the desk manager Is also exceptionally good at handling every possible situation I’ve dealt with the academy. Last, but not the least, after have been attending the academy for a while, I had run into a little hiccup with some other person at the reception, to which the owner of the academy was not only very understanding, but also very accommodating and generous with handling the situation. I’d like thank all of you for making this a wonderful experience. And please keep up the great work!
My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
I attempted to take singing lessons here. Unfortunately, on the day my lesson was scheduled, there was a power outage, so it was postpones. Now obviously this was out of their control, but they told me that they would call to reschedule and never did. We attempted to contact them numerous times about it, and they never got back to us.
The lessons could be the best in the city, but if they’re this difficult to work with…
The J-RO School of Music

Very friendly staff, inviting atmosphere and clean facility. Best of all J-Ro literally rocks! Two of my kids signed up here and are loving it. Lots of communication about kids progress, updates and cool reads about music.
Our almost 7-year old daughter loves the instructors at J-Ro! She takes singing and piano lessons. Instructors are fantastic! Very professional in what they do but make kids feel at home and comfortable =)
I have heard nothing but good things about this school. I know the owner, he is well manured, patient, kind hearted, and has a passion for his craft. If you are looking for a great teacher and tutor he is your guy.
Classes are good but sometimes you can’t hear yourself even with the headphones as some instrumentalist will be playing acoustic instruments
We’ve been attending for several months now, underwhelmed by our child’s progress. Appears to be partially attributable to poor management
Interlochen Center for the Arts
Address: 4000 J. Maddy Pkwy, Interlochen, MI 49643 , Mişrātah , Michigan , United States
In 1955, I attended National Music Camp (as it was known then and who’s sticker is still on my violin case) at Interlochen as a hs grad. I had been a big duck in a CA puddle, but I knew I would be a little duck in a big puddle back here. I was happy bouncing around on Bloody Fridays in the first dozen first violin chairs and in 1st chair second violin in the honor orchestra which played on radio every Sunday. My best friend was Pepper (Judy) Weingard. I took lessons in violin, piano and flute and tried a harp, played for an operetta, sang with dozens of bugs inhaled with each breath at our cabin’s turn at nightime serenading, went swimming and sailing & played in many concerts conducted by Dr. Maddy and others. It was the most intense and FUN time I had had in my 17 years! Thank you all who provided and now provide for such an experience.
It is an amazing academy!
Went to see the 60s group “Chicago”. It was the first concert at Interlochen since 2019. It was an excellent show and evening.
Far from perfect but a great arts camp overall
Great place to perform
Nice summer camp! Great concerts! The only thing is I have very limited cellular service on campus. WIFi on campus is also not great.
We were very disappointed with Interlochen’s lack of basic precautions around the health of the campers this summer (of 2022).
Unlike other arts camps we are familiar with Interlochen did no proactive or preventative testing. Other than test campers who requested testing they appeared to take no health precautions what-so-ever.
Two campers in our daughters cabin tested positive after requested testing because of their concern around exposure to other campers who tested positive.
None of the other campers in this cabin were notified. No testing was performed for others in the cabin even one of the campers who presented a persistent cough.
We know from discussions with other parents that other arts camps were being more proactive and taking the health of their campers, especially vulnerable ones, more seriously. In the future we will look to those institutions.
I just don’t want my friend to go live so far away
So sad. No students. No programs. Like a ghost town.

Excellent staff. Excellent swag! Everyone is super nice
Beautiful setting for a summer camp for my son.
Excellent place.
Very nice and unique. I wish I would have bought the coffee mug that said “# is a sharp not a hashtag”
Nice little store. Has all the necessities for a summer of arts camp. I wish the apparel selection was a bit more up to date, but overall the shop serves its purpose.

Shame on MSU for enabling a monster to sexually abuse women for decades. Shame for not investigating this sooner and properly.
There will be consequences for failure to act sooner.
These women will not be silenced or shamed any longer.
