My nephew Cameron does guitar lessons with Tommy. He really loves it. Tommy does a great job. Really happy we chose here and got Tommy.
Jon’s enthusiasm and kindness had us jumping in with both feet. We are excited to begin this adventure with them. We have tried in the past, with our older children, at other companies and were all duds!! This place ROCKS!!
I love music. I love concerts. I always imagined myself as a musician, but failed at piano and guitar previously. At School of Rock, their approach worked!
In three months, i went from never having played the drums … to I can play solid basic beats over the whole kit l. Our beginner band even performed a public mini-gig with an audience at a local bistro. A fantastic experience.
Teachers so talented and patient with me. Great equipment to practice on too. Everyone is chill and really supportive. Weekly private lessons and a separate group/band session with other players learning instruments too…awesome and the key to getting better.
Shout outs to my teachers Mandy, Matt and Jordan and owners Jon and Sarah. They are the best.

School Of Rock on Jackson is an amazing establishment. You will be greeted by a warm smile every time and you will have professional instructors. Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and interests. I love School of Rock!
Both of my kids have been going to School of Rock for over a year and absolutely love it! There has never been a day when they don’t want to go. The instructors do a great job making it fun yet educational and my kids love being able to choose the songs they want to learn. I’ve recommended School of Rock to close friends (that have also loved it) and I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a great music school.
Great place learn to play music. Very nice and helpful staff and owners.
Lame and bad business practices. 🙁

If you’re thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.
Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you’re looking to get into music.
This state-of-the-art facility is efficiently and professionally run and maintained, and all current health and safety guidelines are well in place and practiced. It’s a work space that any artist and technician can walk into with confidence, and know that whatever the goal at hand is, be it lessons or recording sessions, the outcome is bound to be successful.
My son has been going to the Detroit School of Rock and Pop since he was 7 years old. He is now a senior in high school and an incredible musician and singer as a result of the amazing jobs
His teachers and mentors did at DSRP.
His band has played all over the city and he’s experienced live broadcasts and wonderful events full of interesting people. The support he received through this program not only helped him grow artistically, but as a person as well. Shout out to Julie, Rocco, Jason, and Sherry for helping to guide Cole in his musical career. He has loved every minute of it and we have too.
God bless this awesome school!!!

Everyone here is so welcoming here! I was able to sign up for a trial lesson with the general manager Josh. When I arrived I was warmly greeted by Samantha who gave us a tour of the newly renovated facility. Our lesson was with Scott and he left a lastly impression on my child. I would definitely recommend checking them out.
Our daughter was in the Little Wings class and is now in the Rookies class and she loves it here! It amazes me, the things she comes home knowing about rhythm, instruments, and even classic rock artists. We also just held her 6th birthday party there, and WOW, it was incredible. The instructors were very organized (more than my husband and I), and the activities were a hit. They learned a Moana (the bday girls’ party theme) song on Ukeleles, decorated guitars, and played bingo. The best part was that we (the parents) were able to sit back and let the kids enjoy the party rather than stressing out. The communication has been excellent as well for both the classes as well as the party. I can’t say enough great things.
School of Rock GR has been fantastic for our preschooler. He especially enjoys his instructor always looks forward to attending weekly classes. Mr. Connor does a brilliant job engaging and (re)directing a room full of energetic kids. He and all of staff are so kind, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about music which is reflected in the way they interact with the students. We really appreciated the opportunity to do a trial lesson before starting classes, it was a great chance to check out the curriculum; the levels and structure of which are really thoughtfully tailored to age and skill level. Certainly for our kiddo it is both challenging and fun and we’ve already seen the impacts of what he’s been picking up in class. We look forward to continuing here as he progresses.

This place is great! My daughter took an intro lesson to see what she thought. Being a teen she was nervous at first and hesitant to go. Came out of the building happy and excited. She loves her instructor and what’s she is learning. She would go every day if possible. They are professional, warm, fun, and friendly. My child loves this place!
They have a cool program where you can do lessons on your instrument or voice. And then, if you choose to you can join a band also which meets there weekly. You get to decide what level you sign up for. It’s been a huge hit with my kiddo! Wish I had signed my older child up years ago.
They offer a really great program and we are so happy a friend turned us on to it!
No one asked for this review- we are just that happy about it.
Was really good instructor was patient and no pressure at all will go back.
Just started and i already love it!
So I took my son for a trial run with a group of kids at this school last week on a Monday at the Madison Rd location, which he was so excited about, so he went in with (i forget her name..jenny?) and he was just excited about all the instruments, it was only him and another boy. I guess my son was too much for her because she said that he was not really focused on just one instrument and kind of all over the place and recommend Music Therapy because she is a music therapist and that an hour was too much for him, ( I was kind of shock and a little hurt that I didn’t even ask her any other questions, but said ok and left) but she didn’t recommend her services for a personal session or anything, so my husband called the next day and asked about the lady (the music therapist) that did the trial run with Aaron if she can call him back and recommend her services or if she has a referral. its been a little over a week and she has not returned his call. I also did tell them in the beginning he has a vision impairment) I just wish someone would of reached out and recommended something because my son loves music and he is not a bad kid.
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp

Great place during the summer even more beautiful during the winter
Great performances.
Update 2021 – I will say, the staff is more helpful/communicative this year. My daughter had a much better 2nd visit and may go back for a 3rd. She had great instructors & staff, and made new friends. I do think Blue Lake need to update their documents to show 7800 Russell and perhaps get Google maps to cooperate, and maybe add some office staff. Still some room for improvement but overall a much improved experience. Thank you! 🙂
2019 – I called trying to get some information on my daughter’s stay at camp and final day. First, I found the info on the pre-prepared online documents (Final Sunday and otherwise) to be inaccurate. The correct info would’ve been good to know before mailing her a package she now may not get. Also, currently unable to purchase the final day parent lunch online, and it’s too late to mail the order form. Also, I was told the 300 E. Crystal Lk. address is incorrect or not the ‘good’ pickup address, which is 7800 Russell – I don’t see that info ANYwhere in the available online documents in the ACCESS pages. Good thing I called?? Speaking of which, I had some specific questions about my daughter and was told the cabin counselor would call me back within 2 hours, possibly with my daughter on the line as well. I have yet to receive a callback. She might be having a great time, happy and healthy… but I have no way to know (until after), and at this rate I’m pretty disappointed with the inaccuracy of info I’ve seen and been told. For the price of this camp, I would like to think that the value would be more than just the ‘prestige’ & that they’d have their ducks in a row a little better.
Additionally, they charge for email credits to send your child an email. Really? After the exorbitant cost of the camp, they nickel and dime you for ’email credits’? There’s NO REASON why the kids shouldn’t be able to use their own phone/email afterhours. It’s tying our hands and then forcing us to pay for a service we really don’t need. I suppose the premise is to ‘unplug’ for 10 days. But I still believe we shouldn’t have to PAY to stay in touch with them.
I was an art major here, blfac doesn’t care as much about the art people as they do the band people. I say this because band kids have a lot more time to get their assignments done and be prepared, while our kids have 11 days to get 7 projects done, that’s a lot of pressure on Art Kids and still only giving us about an hour free time everyday. Every night every camper has to watch a band concert for about an hour an hour and a half f, while I respect musicians I’m not one I didn’t come to Blue Lake to watch something I don’t really care about every night, would you make band kids come watch are people draw for an hour? These concerts really lowered my motivation to want to come back the next year. So to the administration people I highly suggest that you make this simple change for the greater good of the art side of your campers and for better success in your camp. Thank you.
Covid shutdown and they didn’t have a plan (mind you, this was in summer 2022). From what I gathered, most of their staff came down with Covid overnight or something? I don’t know. It was hard to get an answer from the receptionist because she was dodgy when I called. They notified us of the closure the EVENING before week-long camp started, AFTER our flight had just landed from Florida. We wasted $1000 on plane tickets, overnight hotel and rental car. Kindly requested reimbursement of some kind and was only offered reduced tuition for the following summer. No thanks. Poorly managed and left a bad taste in our mouth. The Director asked me to send him receipts of our expenses, which I did, but then he never followed up nor responded to my polite follow-ups 3-4 more times. When I asked my daughter if she would have any interest in returning the following summer she emphatically said “No way”.
Awful camp hated it sent your kids who you hate
Horrible

What a great school! Professional and send please instructors. A thorough program, ready for any pupil can comprehend.
Awesome people and great atmosphere. My son absolutely loves it and do I.
Absolutely THE best in LV my child loves everyone and everything @ School of Rock
I like it but they don’t let you watch the class…and it concerns me as a grandmother of a 5 year old ..they say it’s a security issue but can’t explain why we can view on tge TV in the waiting room
My son has been coming to School of Rock (SOR) since May 2021, for 2 yrs. He has had great instructors & directors, & also not so great make-up instructor (that made him cry). The 1st year, he advanced & grew, after that, he started to plateau due to repetition & dullness of the program. His instructor has been great & tried his best to squeeze songs that my kid actually wants to learn, but with band songs that he has to learn it is difficult to learn songs that he is interested in. Aside from this, my issue is with their policies. You have to give them a 24-hour notice if your kid gets sick, or they can’t give you a make-up lesson. However, the school has canceled lessons with a one hour notice. Unfortunately, the school does not open until 2 pm & you’re unable to notify them sooner if your kid wakes up sick that day.
* For reference, we paid $355 a month for a once a week lesson & band. Their policy includes a 24-hour notice if your kid gets sick & a 30-day notice if you want to cancel your membership.
*My kid will miss his instructor the most, but we will look elsewhere for better growth & a more understanding sick policy.
***to the owner***
I did text at 9 am, letting SOR know of my kid being sick. When I called at 4 pm to confirm they had canceled, they told me it had not been canceled yet. I’ve never had an issue in the 2 yrs. Also, it is not just the policies. To be honest, kids want newer fun songs. They keep playing 1980s songs that they’re just not into. Also, in the 2 years, a few kids have enrolled SOR do to our referral, but was bummed that we couldn’t even get one make-up day for being sick. Feel free to call me if you want to discuss this further. Once again, the instructors & directors have always been awesome.
Great camaraderie with fellow band mates in adult band and learning how to practice to perform is a lot of fun. The rewards of lots of practice come through at the end of season shows.
people were cool and it was a good premise of the place, but as a guitar player i was not taught anything valuable and im not sure if it was my instructor or not but it was honestly just a waste of both time and money.
The class is only 30 minutes long, and the kids are on time but they can’t get to class right away and they always wait outside, but the class is over on time!
The problem isn’t that 30 minutes of study isn’t enough, it’s that the class should be 30 minutes long

I think the School Of Rock program is by far the best way for people to learn and more importantly experience music. It is a great way to expose students to music that they may never find on their own. Furthermore, watching the kids build friendships and team building skills is awesome. I see older kids helping younger kids, younger kids helping even younger kids.
School of Rock Doylestown has been a home for my family for over 7 years. My child started drum lessons in the 7th grade and stayed through high school. During the pandemic my child found a safe place to be expressive and alleviate the stress of daily life. They found friends and a support system that helped them build confidence and self esteem. This program is like no other! Highly recommend!
School of Rock is a great music school for kids. The downtown team is so friendly and good with the kids. The kids in the program get to learn how to play their 1 or more rock instruments in a more practical setting, playing songs that are relevant to kids…not classical which has its place but is a turn off for most kids. The best part is they get to experience live performance with the other kids. The get to feel what it’s like to be on stage playing like a rock star. This has been great for my daughter’s confidence. She’s been at it for 3+ years ow and still loves it.
School of Rock West LA has state of the art facilities and wonderful instructors! The class structure of a 30-minute private lesson and a group lesson accelerates the learning and fun. As a parent, I appreciate the WiFi lounge allowing me to work while my son is in class and I can easily run errands or pick up dinner at the local shops and restaurants nearby. I also love how the School of Rock App makes practicing at home easy. My 9-year-old son is having a blast learning to play the electric guitar and I highly recommend School of Rock West LA.
SOR is amazing in every possible way! Everyone is so cool and professional! The best possible way to get into music and develop the skills to become serious and get into a band , or just do it for fun ! Whatever you need or want to become proficient , they have it. So very very pleased!
School of Rock has been life changing for my daughter Sydney. The instructors are inspiring and my daughter has grown so much as a musician.
Great staff great location great music
Kelly who “runs” the school is absolutely awful. She is unprofessional, combative, lacks follow-up skills, lacks customer service skills, and is incredibly rude and unable to resolve conflict. I would never send my child to a place that is run by a person like Kelly. That said, I pulled my child out of the summer camp.

My son has been involved in SOR Germantown for almost a year and we have been nothing but happy! He is learning so much and is being exposed to so many different genres of music and performances. The shows that they put on are top notch and the instructors are wonderful! I would definitely recommend School of Rock Germantown to anyone interested in furthering their musical abilities!
School of Rock Germantown is amazing. Our 12 year old daughter is very shy & in just 4 months performed in her first gig Friday night. First vocalist for one song and 2nd guitar lead in another. She loves learning there & is doing so much more than we expected. If you’re considering music lessons for your child, I would strongly recommend School of Rock Germantown.
This is a great place for those who love music. I am basically from Tamilnadu India and not aware of 99% of English songs but I sing, can you imagine?
My teacher Ashton Riker is so passionate about music and have loads of patience to teach. He is awesome and always smiles inspite of his busy schedule and makes me comfortable in singing. He believe me and I hope I could come up to his belief. And our luck, he is our band music director.
Coming to band, I am the only real fresher without any music background. Our band friends are great with music. I always have something to learn from each and everyone every week , feel like kid and it’s fun.
End of camp concert was poorly planned and not well organized. Seating was horrible and there was no program or agenda. We got notice last minute of the concert date, time, and location itself and I had to request my son’s instrument be turned up because it could not be heard at all during the concert!

You don’t know how many parents I meet who share the same story “my kid tried to play guitar but got bored and quit” or “my kid quit playing piano…she just wouldn’t practice”. Our local School of Rock in East Brunswick is the answer. My two sons started three years ago and they LOVE it. The formula there is simple: individual lessons combined with a full band experience. My sons actually practice without me asking because a) they don’t want to let down their fellow band members, and b) they have so much fun at rehearsals and live performances playing. When music is fun for kids they keep doing it, and the longer they keep doing it the better they get. The young men and women who serve as instructors there have become cool musical role models for my boys, introducing them to new bands and genres they may have never experienced. I just can’t say enough about this program and the professional staff. When they graduate from the school, School of Rock will have given them a skill which will allow them to find a like-minded community wherever they go in life. Sorry I went a little overboard! I strongly recommend this for any school aged kid.
Update: it is now 2021, my son is 10 years old, and more involved than ever in School of Rock. He isn’t a good drummer, he is a fantastic drummer who jams with adult friends of mine who play instruments. None of them can believe how capable he is at 10 years old. He LOVES music. He LOVES going to his private lessons and band rehearsals at School of Rock. His instructors treat him as a peer. Management at the school treats us like family. Out of everything that we’ve exposed our child to and enrolled them in, School of Rock is by far the most rewarding and fulfilling thing. It is educational, motivational and is giving him ever increasing confidence and the knowledge that anything can be achieved with work, dedication, and the help of good people who care. The owners and staff at EB School of Rock are wonderful people who are doing a wonderful job at creating a place where youth can develop and pursue an interest in music. Any review here that says otherwise is ingenuine, and I can say that with confidence because at shows, all of the parents talk and our experience with the school is the same across the board- it’s just plain awesome.
(Original review begins here) East Brunswick School of Rock has helped to fuel and grow our son’s love for music- when a 6 year old cant wait to go to a drum lesson each week you know they are doing something right!
As a parent of a School of Rock student, I have only the best and heartfelt things to say about this school and the staff. Seeing my daughter develop her skills as a guitar player and singer, develop friendships that will last a lifetime but most importantly to me, seeing her grow her confidence, her strengths and her passion is what it’s all about. The staff is without a doubt such a supportive group of people. The environment they created is one I know all parents will approve. All the time and money invested is well worth it….without a second thought.
Great place to get young kids exposed to music and instruments.
The most unprofessional owner who defames other local business’ and will argue with parents. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The instructors are fabolous and great with kids. I’m not sure how this place is in business still based on management alone.
The owner Denise is very rude and unprofessional! I was running late for my son’ s rescheduled lesson. I arrived about 20 minutes late due to an accident on route 18 to a locked school. When I spoke to Denise, she said the teacher had to go to work. When I told her my son’s lessons were 45 minutes, he still had time in his lesson. He still had 25 minutes left. She told me for the first time, it’s policy that they wait 15 minutes. Although the teacher was willing to reschedule the lesson, she refused to allow it. She would not en reshedule the 25 minutes that the teacher was not there. She stole 25 minutes from my son.
Needless to say, I gave 1 months notice and cancelled and now my son goes to the School of Rock in Clark. He is loving it. In addition to private lessons he is taking Rock 101. When I asked the manager at the Clark location if it is School of Rock procedure to wait only 15 minutes, she said she never heard of that. She told me if someone doesnt show, they call to follow up and see if you are on your way. I believe this is common courtesy, especially since, we are early 99 percent of the time. I guess all Denise cares about is getting your money! She did me a favor though because the Clark location is actually closer to my house.
Take heed when dealing with her.
Bad management. My grandson went to the camp here. Very expensive and not very professional…..his brand new guitar broke on the first day at camp….the counselor didn’t see what happened…well where was he?? There are only 6 kids in the class and a small room. How could he not know what happened? The web site says that they will provide instruments….all they could provide him with was an electric guitar….which he did not like ….not what he wanted so they convinced him to play the keyboard. We had to convince him that he had to try to go back the next day….he was very upset but this place is too expensive to just give up. They advertise all kinds of “great” teaching methods and that your child will learn how to play a song. Well for over $400 he learned 3 notes on the keyboard. They had a show at the end of the week…what joke…the drummer and the two guitar player obviously had been going to this place for lessons for quite a while. They should really have better management. Another point came up that my grandson said it was too loud…I sent him with my phone headphones and asked when I dropped him off if they had headphones he could use since mine were not really the correct ones….I was told they have them but they are on a first come first served basis…well when I went to the show no other child had headphones so where were they ones that they had. The room is so tiny and they had tremendous speakers….way too loud for this purpose…I know sound like and old lady but this place is not what it’s advertised to be. At least for the camps. Maybe their lessons are better but if I were you I wouldn’t waste my money here. And now we have to buy another guitar!
