How much fun is this! A terrific path towards learning an instrument…. proving the School of Rock is for all ages (I’m 56)…… my son, 10, inspired me…
Total blast.
My son (12) plays drums, and my daughter (14) plays guitar. We’ve been going to SoR Natick since late February and they are having a great time.
It is expensive, especially with two kids going at the same time, but if you count the 2.5 hours a week of rehearsal time + the .75 hours a week of instruction time it comes out to about $23/hour ($325 a month divided by ~14 hours/month). Granted they are not playing for the full 2.5 hours of rehearsal time, it’s still a good value if you consider music store lessons are $25-$35 for a *half* hour.
The performance program also encourages the kids to practice more often then when they were taking individual lessons. If you value working as a team as a valuable life skill, but your child is not a team sports kind of kid (or maybe you’re not a team sports kind of parent…) SoR is a great program for them to learn work as a team while building a skill they’ll have for life.
I have been learning electric guitar here for 2 years best session of my people here are so nice and helpful

Our kids had a blast at School of Rock camp with Mark, Celine, and Hannah. I cannot recommend this method and team enough! our kids had no real music experience and came out of the camp excited to learn more and hone their new skills as music lovers. Thank you!
My son loves the format, can’t recommend this method enough, he’s very engaged and enthusiastic about going to lessons! The owner Mark and his employees are very nice and accommodating to my son and I. We highly recommend School of Rock Burlington!

School of Rock has become a huge part of my son’s life. He loves that he’s found others that share his passion for music. In addition to participating in lessons, performance group and house band, he and some of his SOR friends have formed their own band.
My daughter takes voice, drums, keys, and performance group at SOR. She has also done camps and a song writing workshop, and I can’t say enough about how amazing all of the teachers are. Having lessons combined with performance group is exactly what she needed to push herself musically, and it’s what sets this school apart from others because these are not just music lessons, it’s truly a music education. The environment is also extremely welcoming and it’s great to see so many different types of kids being themselves and working together in the safe space SOR has created for music lovers.
Update Sept 2023: The Norwood School of Rock fell apart in Spring 2023 due to actions of the owners. Big staff and leadership turnover. They are currently trying to get back on their feet. I ended up leaving due to the culture shock.
Original review: I am learning drums and am part of the adult rock band group at School of Rock Norwood. Combining the lesson with the group is a great way to stay motivated. The group is chill and accepting of all of its members. The staff are zany, super smart, and talented. They get you playing, giving just enough theory and exercises to get you good enough to play, mixed with lots of playing real songs from day 1. Thanks for making my day, School of Rock Norwood!

Words are not enough to express our thanks to Ms. Julie and Pakachoag Music School! Our 3-year-old son loves Ms. Julie and her Music Together classes. Ms. Julie and her classes give our son lots of happiness and he quickly learned how to sing almost every single song, including the songs in Spanish, French, and Russian given that he is not familiar with these languages. Our son regularly asks us when he can go see Ms. Julie to make music together again! We are so much looking forward to see her again during the summer classes!
Pakachoag music school is a fantastic addition to the Worcester’s Music, Art and Culture scene. They have music programs and classes for almost every age starting with infants and toddlers. Everyone member of the faculty staff has incredible credentials and accomplishments. Amazing Music School!
The instructors at this music school are top notch! They know their instrument, and more importantly, how to teach kids & teens. Worcester and surrounding towns are fortunate to have this facility. The administration was fantastic in adapting quickly to the pandemic and continuing the lessons. Highly recommend this school if you are looking for any music lessons.
Unfortunately, the Music Together class we did with our toddler was not as good as we hoped. The main issues were they don’t play traditional, recognizable children’s music, there is not enough time with instruments, and we found the teacher bossy. She was particularly so to the parents which did not make it fun. Disappointing experience.
My son adored Michael unfortunately the school did not honor all the 3 absences due to covid19 with Dr. Notes after a pretty costly season 2 weeks prior to it being over they told me to purchase a smaller guitar what a joke He cannot even play a note nor read any music Total waste of time And money.

Pakachoag music school’s Suzuki violin programs is one of the best in the area. My daughter’s teacher is amazing. She understands my daughter’s learning capabilities and challenges her in every lesson. We couldnt be happier with how far she has progressed.
The Pakachoag Suzuki Violin Program is nothing less than amazing! My 9 year old daughter has been part of this program for 3 years, having come from an earlier private school Suzuki program in Worcester. The professionalism and masterful pedagogy of the Pakachoag Suzuki teachers is top rate. The violin private lessons are rigorous; there are expectations for proper posture, technique and student preparedness. The Pakachoag Suzuki curriculum is comprehensive and provides note reading with each private lesson using a revered instruction guide, “Step By Step,” created by the program coordinator. The teachers provide a nurturing and engaging methodology that makes learning the violin FUN! Our daughter, through the many extra violin group classes, has worked closely with four teachers from the Suzuki staff – and each teacher is knowledgable and committed. The group classes allow the students to share their music together and to learn from each other. There is an expectation that all group participants come prepared and willing to participate, and we are grateful that there is a standard of behavior required in these classes. The recital and outside performance opportunities provided for the students are impressive. Already, my daughter has performed with the Pakachoag Suzuki students at Mechanics Hall, Sturbridge Village, and UMASS Hospital. She has participated in the Boston Suzuki Festival (held at the New England Conservatory) and The Brian Wicklund Fiddle Festival (Newton, MA), at the behest of her Suzuki teachers. What makes the Pakachoag Suzuki program unique is the talent, knowledge and dedication of the teachers. We couldn’t be happier with this program – and our daughter’s progress and love for the violin is all the proof we need!
I first experienced Pakachoag Music School as a mom with a toddler. I have very fond memories of going to Music Together classes with my son, and learned that he had great rhythm when he picked up a drum. He’s now in college and has continued as a percussionist in many settings.
We returned to Pakachoag Music School for music lessons when my daughter was in high school, mostly because we remembered the great atmosphere of learning and encouragement. The school fostered both of my children in their passion for music, and I am grateful!
This school is terrible !
My son has been in the Suzuki program for three years in Las Vegas Nevada. After moving to Worchester we thought there would be a level of professionalism with any school practicing the Suzuki method ! The school has you pay upfront before you learn how poor their private teachers are equipped . My sons new teacher at the school was apalled that he knew how to read music and actually erased notes from his Suzuki book that were placed there from his previous teacher . Then the school forced him to leave group lessons because they couldn’t get paid both ways. If you want your child to have to pull the bow for years before being given an arrow this is the perfect school for you.

Great school: well run, offering a wide range of music classes, and with excellent teachers
Enjoying Music Pups, songs are addictive
We love the music pops (for infants and toddlers). The teacher is very nice and good at motivating parents and children to sing and dance together. We love the songs. Listening to the songs and singing them in the car with our daughter in the car everyday is such a great fun! We have attended two sessions. Highly recommend this class for parents with infants and/or children aged up to 4!
I have taken all 4 of my children to Music Pups at Powers over the years. We love it! The older kids still sing the songs.
I bought a whole session piano class for my niece and then the course was not sufficient so her mom decided to drop but they did not allow for a refund. When she called them to postpone remaining classes for next season they said its okay but asked for extra money from her. Very disappointed. Money is gone without my niece taking any valuable classes!
I Hate it so much
They are not helpful they waste my money didn’t helped me for that i paid whole summer tuition but we couldn’t get more than 2 classes because of their misunderstanding and they did nothing for that !!!!!!!!

My daughter will be going there this year call and so far everything has been professional and on point.
You took away my friend. Either give him the best college experience of his life, or give him back. I’m not playing around, he deserves the world and if he doesn’t get that I will be sad and he will be sad. If you cannot make him live out his dreams, just give him back so I can.
Musician goes in salesperson comes out (mostly)
My grandson three weeks before leaving was sent a notice that he had to pay $30,000 before he could come to the school. Had already paid his monies he was told he needed up front. He was crushed and so were we. Why would this not be made clear up front?!
