The Andersonville School of Rock has been a tremendous positive for our family. Our son started completely online during Covid’s early outbreak. Evan as in-person lessons started, he was extremely hesitant to re-join in person activities. After watching the live music at the School’s Open House, he was all in and is thriving in this community. The teachers here are amazing. Super happy with this school.
Amazing music teachers, awesome opportunities, collaborative and positive environment to learn about music, showing up for each other and performing.
My 6 year old loves the Rookies class and seeing his classmates every week. Great program!
My child enjoyed their lessons, but this business practices incredibly deceptive billing, re-scheduling, and cancellation policies.

We love everything about this place. Both our boys are students. And we love our School of Rock Chicago West community.
They get the kids playing real songs at real shows in real venues very quickly, which is a great way to learn music and build confidence.
Private lessons help build technique, and ensemble classes teach cooperation, responsibility, and showmanship. And it’s all done in a fun, mutually supportive atmosphere.
The staff are very kind, accommodating, and welcoming. And it’s just so much fun to see young musicians grow in ability and confidence.
Send your aspiring musician here!
The place just looks great
Great place to learn how to really enjoy and play great music.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Phenomenal staff and amazing studio. We would strongly recommend School of Rock Schaumburg!
My son loves it, and we do too.
School of Rock is AMAZING! Brandy and Mandy are wonderful and strive to promote a great learning experience while having fun. My son is excited about every drum lesson with Aaron and Saturday group lessons with Dave are a blast! We have had only positive experiences with the entire staff! Rock on and thank you all for helping grow my son’s love for music!
Instructors and staff are excellent. Good environment

Over the 3 years I’ve been here, School of Rock has become my home away from home. The relationships I have formed with the staff and fellow musicians have shaped who I am as a person. My guitar playing has Improved greatly not only because of lessons but also the performance programs offered. I am currently taking 3 lessons per week, participating in two bands offered by the school and interning. It is easy to say that School of Rock has changed not only my life, but almost everyone who goes here. Do yourself or your kids a favor and sign them up for School of Rock. -Sam Frederickson, 18
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

School of Rock’s philosophy of teaching is through songs. It has proven to be a greta way to teach me how to play the electric guitar. I recommend The School of Rock to anyway wanting to learn how to play any instrument!
I’m so glad I joined School of Rock! The camaraderie of my band mates and the non judgmental attitudes, (especially since I’m doing this for fun and this is my first time) has put me at ease and made me feel very welcome. The staff is great too and want to see me succeed. I always look forward to my band rehearsals and private voice lessons. These are the highlight of my week!
Our son has been taking drum lessons at SOR for the past two years. The instructors are great and they create a productive and fun learning environment for the kids. Highly recommend them.

We have been with the school of rock for just over a year now and it has been a great experience for my daughter! All of the instructors there make learning music an exceptional experience! She has done the performance group and private lessons and really enjoys both we look to continue for years to come!
SOR Arlington Heights is a great place for your child to discover music and people with similar interests. The owners and teachers are all fantastic and well trained! We can’t imagine not having SOR Arlington Heights as part of our lives.
It is so cool I want to go there
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.

American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.
My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
So much fun! We had a great time.

What a great place to see a show. Small venue, great sound, good sight lines & tasty beers. Will definitely be back to see a show here again.
Great venue for a concert. Not a bad seat in the house. Friendly, accommodating staff – nice neighborhood vibe. Highly recommended.
Always a fun and top quality time. Said to be the Carnegie Hall of folk music. Believe it!
Been attending classes since my late teenage years. Learned a lot from the individual guitar instructors. Eventually I reached adulthood and now my kids are attending classes at OTSFM.
The school offers so much to the community and for that I am truly grateful. During the covid lockdowns we really appreciated the virtual wiggleworms classes. These wiggleworm sessions were essential in socially engaging our toddlers when everything was closed.
Unfortunately our experience for the in person wiggleworms has been disappointing. Rose Nadolsky was our toddlers’ instructor for the wiggleworms 1-4 age group and she will show her impatience towards select toddlers. My recommendation for anyone considering her class is that you need to have a toddler that sit on command. Instead of attempting to engage the kids in the activities Rose would threaten to kick us out of the class if the boys didnt sit and listened quietly. Her negative attitude would only be displayed with our boys and never towards any of the other kids that walked or ran around the classroom, or werent “sitting quietly”. For whatever reason our toddlers were always called out. This is the age group when children are learning and my 2 year old definitely has learn that he isn’t appreciated in the classroom.
Para los Padres bilingues tengan cuidado con la maestra Rose Nadolsky. Eligan las otras maestras para el programa wiggleworms.
Great place for kids.. Leaned the basics in no time on my guitar. Had a recital in less then 4 days of taking leessons
I went here on a class trip and it was great. The classes seem small and easy to learn in. They also provide a large variety of classes to choose from.
So very disappointed the last time my wife and I attempted to go to a show(James McMurtry) this past April 22nd.
Love the venue, sadly when we showed up after driving in from NW Indiana we were told that “The Artist Has Requested Proof Of Vaccination From All Attendees”. OK, disappointed since my wife is not vaccinated, she spoke at length with a gentleman inside the venue in an office just off the foyer where she was assured that if we called we would get refunded for her ticket.
Certainly not an ideal nigh out with my wife but knowing how long I had planned for this night and what a big fan of McMurtry I was she decided to hang out a few doors down at a pub an wait for me to watch at least some of the show.
April 22nd was a Friday, when I call the following week, Wednesday I believe I spoke with the “Director Of Customer Service” Erin English. Ms. English told me that after “Asking Everyone” that i could not have possibly been told that I would get a refund.
I attempted to follow up via e-mail and she (“Director Of Customer Service”) refused to even reply.
Great Venue Horrible customer service.

Recently went to a 4 PM Saturday show with my wife and sat in the upper corner of the balcony. In our section were at least 4 children under the age of 5, and 2 under the age of 2. All during the performance they were talking to their parents and vice versa, and going to the bathroom multiple times. I sent a comment to customer service, Erin English, who responded that all shows have no age limit. I told her that I thought that policy was irresponsible as any number of parents are going to purchase a ticket for a child rather than pay a babysitter. She told me that I could always check with the box office. Check what? Like they have a place where they put children and can tell you? She didn’t respond to that. I am not looking to spend $50 to $200 for tickets to have regular interruptions. Buyer beware.

Carrie has a way with teaching kids (especially ones that aren’t as into piano as say, video games) in a calm but fun manner! She has a great system for practicing that builds on new material while still playing the older material. This makes practicing a little more interesting then playing the same song over and over everyday for a week like I hated as a kid! She has the kids do sticker charts and she includes music theory too! She is phenomenal and really makes it fun for my boys even when they would rather be playing some crazy space game or Minecraft. They don’t even complain when I ask them to practice and are excited to see her every week! She also has an option to teach virtual lessons when we had a family member that was sick. It actually went so smoothly and I appreciated not having to deal with make up lessons. She’s definitely an expert!
I have had an amazing experience at Musical Chairs Studio! The music teachers are fantastic! I took both flute and piano lessons. Participating in recitals was such a great experience too! I highly recommend Musical Chairs Studio!
Our kids have been taking lessons here for years and love it. The teachers are very knowledgeable but also very low-key and great with the kids. During the pandemic, the communication has been great and we’ve felt good about virtual classes and some safe, outside in-person classes as well. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to open their children to the world of music!

Our Daughters come here for Hip Hop dance and Ballet.
They absolutely love it.
Really wonderful classes, teachers place to learn and have fun!!!!
Have been taking my boys here for over 10 years and has been one of the best parts of our lives!
Just read the other nice reviews, and one poor one. Wasn’t going to say cause it embarrassing to me.
Don’t want to argue with Organs – Oct 26, 2010’s experience either. Different times and people often experience the same things very differently. Richard IS sometimes a bad businessman, but I can’t say enough good things about him!
In 2008, when I had no job and could not pay, Mr. Richard Trumbo, Marcy their teacher and Music House let my boys continue their lessons free for a year until I could pay again. Since then have not even asked me to pay them back. (still plan to pay them back someday when I can, but Music House doesn’t require it)
Another maybe poor business decision by Richard was to spend his time and energy on Breast Cancer Awareness. He even had my boys make up some Music House/Ping Ribbon tie-dyed shirts. (I still like wearing mine 🙂 Anyway funds for a good cause is nice, but this program had an unexpected side effect of saving my wife’s life. There is no question without the additional awareness this program specific efforts generated her cancer would not have been found as soon or treated as quickly. As it turned out her cancer was malignant and removed in time for complete full recovery!!! ^_^
So I just had to add that while Richard Trumbo may be forced to struggle with his efforts to keep a small business open in Chicago during these times, I am a very grateful customer for all his efforts!!!
My daughter takes ballet here and loves it! Ms Kathleen is a great teacher and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. I’m hoping to get my other kids involved in violin, piano and dance. We love this place!!
good stuff
My son has attended during off days from school and has enjoyed it.
I had taken piano Lessons for four months, I haven’t exited on their practice ,because they don’t have flexibility and friendly trainers. Actually they do for children not for adults. So if you adults and want to do so,I recommend you don’t go there.
Horrible experience at dancing class for toddlers.
Phone doesn’t work, don’t respond email. Yet, place in edgewater called me back after a few hours from my contact form. No brainer now.

My daughter LOOOOVES School of Rock! Her teacher Mrs Jasmine is VERY skilled, kind, patient and always so encouraging. My daughter feels at home as soon as she walks in the door! Rachel at the front desk is wonderful! She is always informative with anything that we need to know. I am kept up to date on all lessons with reminders for each class. I appreciate that SOR is on top of all communication with anything going on at the studio. So far we have really enjoyed our experience!
Lucas works very well with my son he has tailored experience along with his preferences. We have worked remotely and they have both made it work well! It is a good learning experience!
My son loves going to the School of Rock Naperville. He says it feels like family and looks forward to every session. And he is improving his skill level!
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!
The Chitwood Family
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.
