Great staff and instructors for my bass player kiddo! Weekly online feedback/assignments from the instructors is awesome. The owners are super nice as well.
I absolutely love the vibes here, give you a sense of home and comfort. the staff are patient, kind, sweet and knowledgeable. this school reminded me of my home school back in Austin Texas, would highly recommend taking your kid with talent to become a great musician here!
So many talented children… Bravoo boys & girls you Rock!!!
My son had an awesome time at School of Rock today.
Love School of Rock! The approach of mixing individual lessons with a band of peers and actual performances is perfect for learning and staying motivated. The instructors are great, and the bands have a chance to play venues all over the area. We have been with the school since they opened a few years ago. Our son has moved from guitar and bass to drums, and had a great experience with each instrument. The staff is responsive and friendly, the kids have developed real friendships, and they are playing great music (no hot cross buns played on repeat at this school).
Kind and informative. But not very professional on the phone.

Awesome place to learn and better yourself as a musician! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and great at inspiring the students to learn music! The School of Rock method is streamlined through professional means to keep that consistency with the successful franchise. The location is very clean, easy to navigate, decor is elevated all around and COVID-19 precautions were in place when it was needed most, still optionable I believe at request. Learning music can inspire confidence for somebody of any age, it’s invaluable and although it could be very tough to learn instruments it can be very fufilling, very good for the brain as well! I myself have taken lessons in the past from private teachers all the way through college level classes and having the system in place is highly effective, curtailed to modern technology like apps. Pricing is reasonable, the skills for life are worth unpinching any penny. What would I change? Perhaps building a small stage to lift drums off floor in band rooms, T.V in the back lobby, more soundproofing including foam, diffusion and although this is more of a franchise suggestion, adding music studio/production/recording elements to the mix! Also, more raises for the drum teachers!! Great location!

Our oldest “graduated” from SoR Elmhurst in 2019. Performance Groups, House Band and All Stars were a huge part of her high school years. The school really works hard to offer meaningful and fun performance opportunities. Our youngest daughter just started at SoR Elmhurst last week. She’s excited about being able to make music and perform with others in person. The school seems to be taking COVID protocols very seriously. Can’t wait to see their livestream performance in January!
My daughter has been playing at the school of rock for several years. They have an amazing and positive environment, and the shows rock.
We are very happy with our daughter’s Guitar Lessons. She is a teen just starting to play guitar, who was a little nervous at the beginning. Her confidence grows with every lesson. Her instructor is knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic. She really enjoys her time at the School of Rock, and is reaping the benefits. We both strongly recommend the School of Rock – Elmhurst.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. My daughter won’t stop talking about it. Great space, everyone is friendly and I love the vibe.
Wish a few teachers had a little more training in controlling kids. Some kids like to take control of the class and a couple teachers are too gentle in calling them. It effects class time for others.
Very unprofessional.

Every single person I have encountered at Bach To Rock Northbrook has been warm, friendly, and eager to help my children learn and grow with music. My son has been taking guitar lessons there for almost two years and has worked with a few different instructors. Every instructor has met his interests and needs with enthusiasm and helped him grow quickly as a musician. When my daughter expressed interest in learning the flute, she and I were both pleasantly surprised to find out that she could take lessons there as well. She is very excited to have her own 1 on 1 sessions just like her older brother and is learning the basics of flute after just two lessons. The organization’s positive spirit, willingness to be flexible with schedules, and broad spectrum of talent is what keeps us coming back. I highly recommend this school for musicians of all types and ages.
Tremendous staff at Bach to Rock Northbrook!!
They get an A+ on their rock report card!!
My son Petey just loves his band lessons there!!
Both of my kids have been going to Bach to Rock for about 9 months and its been an incredible experience. The teachers are amazingly patient with the kids. We have been doing online lessons as of late and the teachers have really become friends to my kids throughout this crazy time. From Victoria to Riley, Shahz and Adam we have had a wonderful experience with each of them….all the staff is so great. I highly highly recommend Bach to Rock for lessons!
Bach to Rock contracted with another local enrichment center in the area to provide a music class for young toddlers (about 10-20 months). The first class was what I call a playdate. The instructor did not engage the children at all, spent 10 minutes taking attendance, and didn’t seem to care about teaching. Another teacher, Mr. Quinn, taught the second class. He played guitar, which was nice, but he had no clue how to interact or what to do with this age group. The third class was a different teacher. She read a long story, tried to do limbo, and was 5 minutes late. I would absolutely not recommend taking any classes through this organization. They have no idea what they are doing and are completely unprofessional.
Bach to Rock was supposed to be teaching a class for my child at another facility. The first class they sent an instructor who just sat there and let kids play with the instruments with no engagement. The second class they sent a new teacher, which was much better. The third class they sent a different teacher which was 10 minutes late. And now I just got an email saying they cancelled class tomorrow because their instructor cannot get there on time. I was willing to give them them another chance after the first class. But I’m not okay with three bad experiences out of the first four classes. I dropped the class and won’t be taking classes from Back to Rock again.
Bach to Rock Northbrook they just pretend have music guitar teacher. A teacher must degree a school of music not to learn music from internet. My son was there for almost a year. If you ask what they did in one year they print a chart with what they supose to do but didn’t. He even can’t play a short guitar song but they said he is awesome. When I discuss with my son he told me most of the stuff he never did there but they mark like they dis. Don’t spent your money for title of the school. Find a school with real music teacher.

School of Rock helped my son find his mentors, his tribe, his vibe, his calling and his true self. And it did so with such great style. It’s been a very important part of his life for six years and counting.– and ours too. We have so many wonderful memories from seasonal shows and show team gigs , and we have met so many amazing parents. Its a whole-family experience. Thank you School of Rock! Wishing you much continued success :^)
This place has been life changing for my child and for our family. If you’re on the fence, just take the leap. You will have no regrets. This is the best money I’ve spent on extracurricular activities. It is an extremely encouraging, positive environment that allows my child to harness her teenage emotions for good and to channel her inner rockstar.
Both my son and I are taking lessons. It’s incredible how quickly you are playing rocks songs you know and love. The instructors are amazing, they really know how to relate to students and make the complicated seem simple.
I appreciate how teachers adjust their plan for individuals as well as the fact that students receive both a solo lesson and a group lesson.
9/10, not enuf jaz

Over the 3 years I’ve been here, School of Rock has become my home away from home. The relationships I have formed with the staff and fellow musicians have shaped who I am as a person. My guitar playing has Improved greatly not only because of lessons but also the performance programs offered. I am currently taking 3 lessons per week, participating in two bands offered by the school and interning. It is easy to say that School of Rock has changed not only my life, but almost everyone who goes here. Do yourself or your kids a favor and sign them up for School of Rock. -Sam Frederickson, 18
Love this place!!
School of Rock has drastically changed my outlook on music and team work. You realize just how much fun it is playing in a group or in front of an audience, and not just in your bedroom. I’m so glad I signed up for vocal lessons, and so glad I got the teacher I did. Everyone here is extremely friendly, and it really feels like a family. I would recommend School of Rock to any musician, aspiring or even professional, purely for the fact that this place makes my day and makes me a better musician.
The instructors seem competent and my son enjoys the lessons. I just wish it was easier communicating with the staff. Due to the late-ish hours the business runs, getting an actual person on the phone is potluck. Email sometimes gets an answer within a couple of hours, other times it seems that days go by before someone responds. Their overall attitude is laid-back, which is fine, I suppose, and in keeping with the SOR “way”. I just think they could be a bit more professional and efficient insofar as the customer service is concerned.
If you are thinking about taking lessons or signing your child up for lessons, you should seriously reconsider this location. Find a corporate location that has the proper resources. This place is overall NOT functional and failing.

We love this place! My children are in Little Wing and Rookies. They cannot wait to go back for their classes. At home they practice what they learned without prompting. They are enjoying music on a deeper level and training their ears. I also take lessons there. My teacher is great; the approach is very organic yet the formal training is evident. I am so much happier now that music is in my life in this way. The entire staff is wonderful and enthusiastic and I think it is they who make School of Rock Naperville special.
My daughter LOOOOVES School of Rock! Her teacher Mrs Jasmine is VERY skilled, kind, patient and always so encouraging. My daughter feels at home as soon as she walks in the door! Rachel at the front desk is wonderful! She is always informative with anything that we need to know. I am kept up to date on all lessons with reminders for each class. I appreciate that SOR is on top of all communication with anything going on at the studio. So far we have really enjoyed our experience!
My son takes lessons from Lucas and absolutely loves it! He has learned so much and going to SoR is one of his favorite activities. He’s continues to accel and has gotten so much from the program. The camps are great too!
This is a fun-filled and energy-filled place. It’s a great afters-long-school-day activity for the kids to follow. When they need to run off some of their bottled-up energy into something productive yet fun: Not too structured, not too sitting down without moving.
My 10-year old son had been a student at SOR Naperville for over two years. At 8 1/2, after begging him to practice and play piano for 3 years, I finally asked, “What instrument would you be willing to practice? The answer, “drums”. This prompted us to enroll him in private lessons which eventually led to Rock 101. Since then, he has performed in 3 live shows and he considers SOR his home away from home. We have seen him gain so much self-confidence and a sense of who he is from this experience. Their approach to learning is unique and builds a community of artists and creates an outlet for kids who otherwise would not have one.
Living in a community like Naperville, kids are fortunate to be exposed to so many different activities at a very young age. Like many families, we started out in soccer and Tball with our son. It became clear early on that team sports was not his “groove” and that he would have to find someplace else to excel. We would never have guessed at that time that it would be School of Rock. Their approach to learning music motivates kids to practice and improve so that they do not let down their “team” of musicians and so that they are ready to perform on their performance date. Taking both a group and private lesson each week really increases their retention and confidence.
He has not only learned the drums and bass guitar, but he is now begging us for vocal lessons! We knew SOR was the right place for him when on a 3rd grade writing assignment he wrote, ” I feel most at home at School of Rock.” “I love to stay late after my lesson and read my book while I wait for my Mom”. To know that our son feels like he fits in and that he feels so comfortable there is very reassuring to us. Each of his coaches has encouraged and motivated him differently and he respects that they all are live performers and can speak from their experience on stage.
We feel like part of the School of Rock Naperville family and are proud to say so! The owner and manager have always been grateful for our business, accommodated all of our scheduling requests and taken great care of our son!

Have had rather negative experiences here with the instructors and overall learning environment. Will need to look elsewhere.
Chicago Summer Music Camp

My girl was super excited about the camp. Every day she would come home and show off what she learned or new composition she had composed. She was so sad that it ended and wished it was longer than just a week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
American Music Institute summer camp suppose to be fun for all ages.
My kids loved the camp. They learned a ton in a week. Definitely a great find in Downers.

Both my sons did a camp, they had a blast and ended up performing a rock song on stage! There staff is also amazing. Totally love the place
My 4 year old and 8 year old have been taking the group lessons for almost a year now and they love it. They have both learned more music theory than I expected (especially my 4 year old!) and they get to try various instruments to see what they like. My 8 year old daughter started taking keyboard lessons with Ashley during the summer in addition to her group lesson and she loves it! I wanted an environment where she could really learn the piano but not feel pressure to practice nonstop and have to play classical pieces that didn’t interest her, and School of Rock is really perfect for what we were looking for. My daughter has progressed so much and gets to play songs that she enjoys coming home to practice! The staff here is so nice and welcoming.
I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with the Barrington School of Rock adult program. I knew that I just wanted to break out of my comfort zone, actually learn some songs that I could play from start to finish, and perform in public. I have been a self-taught musician with a pretty good grasp of fundamental music theory and only beginner-intermediate acoustic guitar skills. Your program in Barrington has exceeded my wildest imagination and it has been 100% the result of your staff. I could not be happier with their enthusiasm, their continual words of encouragement, their knowledge of music, their talent, their teaching abilities, their sense of humor, their playfulness, and their efforts to fill in gaps in the band when we had shortages of adult students. I could not be more impressed with Stephanie, Danny, and Andrew, in particular. Their personalized interest has been outstanding. I have take the most private lessons from Danny. I have learned a remarkable amount from him over the last year. His listening skills are extremely good. He doesn’t just provide a boring lesson. He listens to what I want to learn and where I struggle, then he tailors the lessons to my needs. The follow-up notes he provides are ridiculously good and very helpful. It is not easy to teach music, but both Danny and Andrew can communicate it in a way that makes sense and wants me to keep going. I have learned more songs in the last year than I thought possible and I look forward to what we will do in the next year. It’s also a great opportunity to make new friendships with fellow musicians. I am honored to be part of the SOR Barrington program.
Not really impressed with this school. We went for a trial lesson with every intention of signing up for regular classes. The instructor really had nothing to say to me after my son’s class. I had to approach him myself as he was walking away and still he barely said a thing after I inquired about how everything went. Say something man. Anything. The front desk attendant educated me more than the actual teacher. Just left w a bleh feeling. Not signing up.
This school is only for approved white rich people. Horrible experience with the instructors playing favorites. If I could give zero stars I would. All of these five star ratings are from the parents that have been given preferential treatment. Don’t waste your time, and YOUR MONEY if you’re a hardworking middle class family in this school.

I thoroughly enjoy collaborating and performing with teaching staff and fellow musicians in adult band. Highly recommend if you’re looking to join a band!
Awesome music school, especially the performance program. Great community of kids.
The support provided to my daughter over the past few years has been exceptional. I am thrilled that she has had some opportunities to perform at some “major” Chicago venues, as well. SOR is amazing in many, many ways!

My boys had the BEST week at camp at school of rock. They had so much fun with the teachers and loved rocking out!
Joining School of Rock is easily the best decision I’ve ever made. I started playing guitar only a little over one year ago and I’ve learned so much valuable information in that short time. It’s crazy looking back thinking that this time last year I could barely play the guitar and now it is all I do with my free time. The teachers are all professional and amazing musicians who I highly look up to and value my time with. In my time at School of Rock I’ve met other kids from my area who are equally as dedicated and passionate about music as I am. Through SoR I’ve had the incredible opportunity to play in awesome venues like Lincoln Hall, Cobra Lounge, and Schuba’s. There is absolutely no other music experience that comes close to preparing you for the music world like School of Rock does.
I can’t explain how incredibly grateful I am to be a part of the School of Rock community. I found School of Rock when I was stuck, struggling to be a better musician. I hit a roadblock so to speak. I had my first few lessons and my first rehearsal in Performance Group and felt alive again. I was learning, like truly learning, from peers who are more talented and experienced than I am, from instructors who are extremely educated in music, and from people who just genuinely care. I have come so far from having shaky vocals and playing only open chords on a guitar, to having a powerhouse voice and playing lead licks in my performance group as well as making it into House Band, in just over 6 months. Thanks for everything School of Rock!

School of Rock Glen Ellyn has been a wonderful place for my kids. They have grown – musically and as people. To provide a kid with a music education, as well as a chance to grown in self confidence and belong is priceless.
Eric is an outstanding Director!
Tina is superb Office Manager!
The instructors are amazing and highly knowledgeable!!!!
The staff are friendly and professional. The keyboard teacher for private lessons is patient and has experience with working with younger children.
Disappointing. I have two kids there. They decided to switch my kids lesson whither I liked it or not, because her teacher was needed elsewhere. They were having her teacher teach a group class. So they inconvenienced us to make more money whither we liked it or not.
My other child is in group kids class, it doesn’t seem like he’s learning anything. He spent one day drawing a picture of drums and played no music. It’s more like music themed daycare than music lessons. Classes start late every week.
I was using SoR in Elmhurst. They rarely had the same teacher from week to week, at least there each kid got to play their own instruments for the class. My scheduled changed and they don’t have Sat classes. Usually with the franchisee model things are held together a lot better.
It’s too bad because I like the model where kids play together.
