High level of engagement for the kids. The live performance was great. It gave my daughter something real to be proud of and work toward. Also, exposure to various other instruments was good. Everything was done at the proper age and ability level.
This place is awesome. My 6 year old daughter love school of rock. She want to be a rock singer and with this school her dream will come true.
Everyone is super friendly and helpful. My daughter always come out of class excited and can’t wait to go back.

Best decision we’ve made for our sons musical interests. I am amazed every time my son gets on his drum kit! He has grown leaps and bounds with his ability and confidence! Love SOR!!!
My son has been going to School of R Ockham Columbia, (SOR) for several years and plays the bass. He’s in one of the Performance groups and loooooves it. He really gets a kick out of being on stage with his friends. I’ve seen him grow from his experiences at SOR and it has transferred into his everyday life.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend School of Rock Columbia to any parent who has a child interested in playing an instrument and/or wanting to have their child involved in something that can bring joy to them and possibly others for the rest of their lives. Enrolling him in School of Rock Columbia is one of the best decisions we have ever made.
Amazing staff, amazing music programs and on-on-one lessons! So far I’ve worked with Mike, Frankie, and David – every single lesson and rehearsal has been fantastic. The instructors have been very patient with me as I am brand new at guitar, yet they have worked at keeping my lessons fun and challenging. Annie is also a superb manager, and always makes me feel welcome and is prompt to answer any questions I have. For anyone looking to learn or expand their musical horizons, look no further. If I could give this place more stars, I would.
My experience is with Siohban Beckett. She inserted herself into a situation at work, based on a rumor from her friend and her own personal prejudice, that started an investigation. When nothing was found, she escalated the rumors, sending messages to her friends on social media, with the full intent of having someone fired. Based on the screenshots of her messages, Siohban Beckett’s own credibility was damaged. She left after one performance night.
Hi guys ! Please save your money and time and do
NOT go to this place . My daughter had an appointment and my mother in law took my daughter showed them the confirmation email with the time and date that they sent . The staff stated that the appointment time was wrong , even though it came from them . I reluctantly reschedule my appointment and they sent an email and again this happens . Just please don’t go here staff is very unprofessional . I would give no stars if I could .
First let me start off by saying, the teachers at Columbia SOR are amazing and my daughter had such an amazing time in vocal classes with Gideon & Zack and Keys classes with Alex and Colin. And we really, really wanted it to work out but the administration at this branch of SOR was absolutely abysmal. The pervasive disorganization, cancelled lessons (sometimes on the same day), constantly shifting schedules, inconsistencies in which teacher we would have from week to week overshadowed whatever benefit my daughter was getting from the highly professional teachers at Columbia SOR. It made us very sad to leave the school because my daughter really made a connection with and loved working with her teachers and we really tried to put up with the mismanagement at the Columbia SOR. But ultimately the mismanagement was too much to bear. If Columbia SOR gets their act together, it could be a great place to learn music. However, at this time, I would not recommend spending your money there, which is a shame because the teachers really are great.

We appreciate the focus on music our kid actually WANTS to play and the individualized support he receives. The group performances are well thought-out and very inclusionary, allowing kids to stretch their wings by also doing backup instrumentation and vocals. Our son has grown tremendously in a very short time with School of Rock, both as a musician and with his personal confidence. We will continue as long as we can!
The instructors teach with passion and clarity! I love the fact that the students have an opportunity to perform. Keep up the good work.
This is the third year my boys have come to School of Rock Annapolis Advanced Camp. We come from West Virginia just to go to School of Rock (this is the closest one to us). Even though we are only part of School of Rock for one week out of the year the boys love their School of Rock family. The instructors are always awesome and are great at encouraging them. Year after year they get to play with the same kids and they have that summer camp camaraderie that is just so special. School of Rock Summer Camp really challenges the boys musically and with logistics of putting a band together and working together to get a concert out in 5 days. We love School of Rock.
Hayley the Keys instructor was great. We did our free trial with her and my 9 year old daughter had a great experience. So we signed up for the program.
At 9 she was placed in Rock 101. The kids were mostly younger than her, and it usually felt like glorified babysitting vs becoming a better musician.
Huge communication disconnect re:homework/expectations between the private lesson, Rock 101 and the School of Rock app causing tears that could be avoided and much frustration for parents!
We also tried one of the summer camps, signed up both kids. The fees included “Recording: campers will record their songs with camp directors so that they can share with family and friends!”.
This was not so! I emailed to follow up to receive this keepsake of their song writing, and the school did not have a file to share.

My daughter and I both LOVE Soundcheck Rock Academy. She had Sophie for her voice teacher and I had Mike teach me ukulele.
Mike is so very patient and kind. With no previous music background whatsoever, I received a ukulele as a Christmas gift three years ago and began to teach myself using online videos. My husband thought I would benefit from in person lessons and I had the privilege of having Mike as my teacher. He had to really start from the very basics with me. He is an incredibly gifted musician and I am amazed at his ability to hear a piece of music and recreate it instantly. He thought me things I could have never mastered on my own. I so much enjoyed our lessons. He is easy to converse with, very humble, kind, and talented. The staff is warm and professional and very accommodating to our crazy family schedule. It was easy to make up classes and Dave is a great communicator! The owner is super easy to talk to as well! Overall this has been an amazing experience!!! Music is such a gift and we were enriched beyond measure by our experience at Soundcheck Academy!!! The place is a gem!!!
This place is the best! The kids love being in a real rock band with real gigs at real venues. Tim and Dave are awesome and so are all the instructors. Can’t say enough good things!
Our son started out with a few of their summer camp weekly programs, and then started with a band/lessons a couple of years back. The instructors are first-rate, and they are truly committed to each student’s musical growth. I’m constantly amazed by how good these ‘kid bands’ sound with just a few weeks of rehearsal—and a lot of behind the scenes efforts by the school staff to get venues lined up, sound equipment working, etc. The ability to perform real shows at fun venues (M3, Ellicott City Main Street, etc.)—and the friendships forged among bandmates and parents alike—truly makes Soundcheck a wonderful experience.
My son has taken lessons, attended summer camps and played in the rock band programs at SoundCheck. A great school and a great environment to learn music. Besides Playing guitar, singing and Drumming , my son has learned self confidence, how to perform in front of a crowd and the kinship one achieves when making music with others.

My son is a drummer and joined to apply his years of lessons into a real band situation that the other music lesson place did not offer. He LOVES it. Staff are fantastic and he has made some great friends here too! Highly recommend.
My five year old loved the school! She feels like a rock star 🙂
Our child is thrilled going to DC School of Rock. Now he wants to go every day. The attention that he gets is unbelievable. Thank you so much to Chris and his team for delivering marvelous experience for our kids. Keep up the great work!
Beware! While the program might be interesting, the Cleveland Park location is poorly run and it will bring you more headaches than benefits.
Owner contacted me about working there, was rude and inconsiderate on the phone. Very disappointing.
