My son took guitar lessons for six years at UM Community School of Music and he gained a vast amount of knowledge in technique and theory. He had the opportunity to work with a renowned classical guitarist and professor. We are so fortunate to have a school of this caliber right here in Shelby County! I highly recommend it.
Both my children took lessons at UM’s Community School of music–piano, clarinet, ukulele, and trumpet. All their instructors were talented, patient, and wonderful teachers. The recitals were very positive experiences. How amazing to have the opportunity to play a Steinway in Lebaron Hall! I am so glad to have this amazing resource in our community. Highly recommend!
Non-credit individual lessons are provided in: piano, voice, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Each semester the Community School of Music also provides recitals for our students. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable performance skills in a professional environment.

My son has taken guitar for 2 years and absolutely loves it! It has helped him gain confidence and build character. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I would highly recommend!
Been taking guitar lessons at the Greystone location since January. My 11 year old son has been taking drum lessons since March. Whether you are young and wanting to learn an instrument or a 43 year old like me wanting to finally check off a bucket list, I cant think of a better experience than the staff and instructors at Mason Music. Both Eytan(my guitar instructor) and Kevin( my sons drum instructor) are great teachers, are very encouraging, and make learning to play music fun. Everyone on the staff, Jay, Savannah, and Sam are very accommodating to schedules and do a great job running the school. If you were thinking of whether Mason Music is for your kids or not, check out their Rock Band League. I just wish there would have been something like Mason Music for my generation coming up.
The Shaver family loves Mason music! The instructors are knowledgeable, talented and very encouraging. If you are considering music lessons for your child, this is the place for you.

My son started virtual piano during COVID and is now in live lessons and loves it. We’ve also done the winter camp and he loved that too!
Knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming teachers and studio managers. Great facilities. Lots of opportunity for students. It’s obvious that those in leadership with this company care about their staff and the services they’re providing. You’re getting the bang for your buck when you go with Mason Music!

Mason Music is the absolute best! The staff goes above and beyond in helping my kids succeed in their musical journeys. This place is super fun and has endless opportunities outside your weekly lessons. I highly recommend Mason Music!!
Carlos is the best human I’ve ever met, what more do you need to know?
My two boys have had the best experience at Mason Music. When my oldest was in first grade, we tried him at another place, and he refused to participate. We then tried at Mason Music, and he felt right at home with the ROCK atmosphere. Five years later and he is still with the same instructor!

My son has taken guitar lessons at Mason for about 7 years, & my daughter piano for about 3. I can’t say enough good things!
Wonderful place for kids to learn music. Diverse knowledge base. Great instructors.
I’ve recently started taking piano lessons at Mason Music with Gabe and thoroughly enjoy it. It’s been a wonderful experience and would highly recommend. The lessons are 45 minutes and go by so quickly!

It was a lovely time in there. The music sounded magical, flowing as if it was alive. It was beautiful and I would love to go there again.
Calm and peaceful place. As we waited outside for our kid to get lessons, we explored the building, vending machine and walked around. Hopefully will get to visit for a concert in near future.
Visited with Cass Middle school Band.
I have been to the Moody Music Hall twice in the past few years to watch my children at MPA. The inside and outside of Moody Music Hall is beautiful but the courtyard outside is in need of some upkeep! It looks like when it rains it washes a lot of the mulch from around the building down into the low spot in the middle of the courtyard.
False advertising.
Beautiful location, very nice, was here for MS honor band.

Great store, great staff, great service. Auburn is lucky to have such a fine music store.
Spicer’s Music is an amazing family oriented shop. Very patient and talented teachers for all types of instruments, and vocals.
Eggs: 1 in front of John Denver Album cover, #2 on top of stack of red drums on stage, #3 on top of amp under acoustic bass.
Leaf: on the shelf next at the checkout with the coffee boxes with picks in them on it (unless it’s a shadow from the baskets that looks remarkably like an oak leaf…LOL).
Great selections of everything you need and quick service when instruments need to be worked on.
Pretty small store with the essentials needed to get by without having to drive all the way to guitar center.
friendly staff, great selection, need to turn house music off, so I can hear the instrument I am potentially going to purchase.
Needed something for last minute on a Saturday for my sound system. That rented to me without any hassle about me being from out of state.
Stoped in today to pick up some stuff.guy behind counter would not put his phone down to see if I needed any thing.
Came in with my daughter, looking to purchase a 12 string guitar. 5 employees ignore us for over 15 minutes. They were busy looking at their phones, and speaking to one another. We waited patiently but not one person even acknowledged we were there. Sad.
Less than fair.

UM has maintained a friendly, nurturing atmosphere among faculty with students. UM can brag about having the best Theatre department in the state!! The Speech pathology department has grown into a world class level of training. The English department has boasted of talented, prize winning writers and educators for more than half a century. The Music department stands superior, far above much larger universities on the state. And athletics is thriving with winning seasons in baseball, basketball, & volleyball. Montevallo is in a class by itself, retaining Southern gentility and an innate appreciation for culture, manners, and acceptance.
Absolutely beautiful campus and the atmosphere is just positive
Beautiful campus and excellent hosts/tour guides.
Wonderful campus and great staff
Beautiful quiet campus. Enjoyed my visit.
Visit my friend here time to time nice quiet Campus.
Faculty and administrators need to work harder to ensure students can complete their degree program within four years. “Just take an extra semester” should not be the standard answer from faculty advisors every time there is a scheduling conflict (which is often!). The price you pay (literally!) for attending a small, cash-strapped school reliant almost entirely on tuition for funding, with limited course options.
Very disappointing
Unable to audit a French class because I had the wrong gender, color and age.
I did pay for the class but the instructor made it impossible to stay in the class.
I really wanted to like Montevallo, really I did, but it’s safe to say that I pretty horrible experience. In early 2020, me and mother shadowed the school and we both really liked it! At the time the school seemed lively, fun and everyone looked happy, but when the time came for me to go, it was an entirely different experience. I came in as an out-of-town transfer student that lived on campus and when I went, it was totally different experience. Everyone in the school seemed cold and unfriendly and with socially distancing and the mask mandate, it was nearly impossible to socialize. The campus seemed barren and desolate. My experience was a very lonely one and it effected me mentally. I had to end up dropping out because to it. I know there’s a pandemic going on, but you can’t just isolate kids and expect them to be okay with that.

Awesome school, would highly recommend. Hosts many events at the Mitchell Center and Laidlaw Performing arts.
Beautiful campus!
Hi h no. H. k. Jkb k
Spent 5 years here. Overall a good experience.
I really love my school. It’s a great campus with wonderful police officers and faculty and staff and I couldn’t have made a better decision by coming here.

Nice venue, very clean, only problem was that the room was too cold and several people coughing all day through out the training and un masked at least 90%.
Roll tide
Terrible school where a white girl can get away with a racist rant, saying the “N” word repeatedly and get away with it.
Not gonna go into too much detail but the service representatives and services in general are poor quality.
