I am a school music teacher and was looking for a music studio for my middle school daughter after her piano & voice teacher both moved out of state. At this age, she wants to ‘have fun’ and is motivated by public performance experience. I want her to have a quality music teacher that connects with my daughter and challenges her to continue advancing, but understands the challenge of middle schoolers. I walked in B2R to ask about audio recording lessons (which she did and now she knows more about Garage Band than me!) But we were instantly engaged with Ms. Lucy and Ms. Haley.
They were super friendly and authentically interested in my daughter. I could tell that they were both instructors that really had a passion for music and for teaching & connecting with children. Being a music teacher myself, I asked all about their background training, etc. and found all their instructors had solid education and training. So we first started voice lessons and then after our piano teacher moved, we started piano. Super solid lessons: scales, warmup, music theory & classical prepared pieces, review pieces. The teacher was happy to jump in and pick up where we left off. I really appreciated this!
Then she was asked to be in a Rock Band– sure! She loves being in an ensemble. She’s my kid that loves improvisation and creating. Rock Band gives her a space to learn how to be in a band, learn a piece, clean it up, presentation and delivery– and they’ve gotten to play at several local venues outside (a change in Covid-times!).
The studio is super conscious about a safe and clean environment and masks and teachers and we feel really good about her safety and the safety with the staff. Mr. Carmen, the owner, is very fun and engaging! He’s obviously a lover of Classic Rock and Eighties genre — but the rock focus (academically called “Commercial Music”) is selected from classical pieces from the mostly the 60s, 70s, etc to now. Which I like. I think they do a great job balancing the fundamentals that classical music provides with the fun & modern techniques and engagement that Rock/ RnB etc. provides.
Thus, B2R is creating a well rounded student musician! You’re going to get your money’s worth at this studio. But it’s your job parents to get your kid to practice at home. Additionally, all the instructors are great about giving parents via email or in-person authentic feedback and I value you that. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a local music studio in Alpharetta!!! -Katherine T.
Ps The photo is my daughter’s all Middle School band. They’re really good!! Even me, the music teacher, was super impressed by these kids!
